My son is looking at a college called Baker College in Flint. We've made arrangments for a visit at the end of this month.
So my questions to any of you in the Flint area are:
1) What have you heard about this school?
2) Do you know which hotels in the area are decent and which ones are dives? We don't want to stay where "business" is conducted on a regular basis, if you get my drift. :)
Please feel free to PM me with this info if you'd like. I appreciate any help any of you can give me.

I lived in MI for 3 years.. ask Barb... she lives there. I didn't live too far from Baker College and knew several people who attended there.... seemed like a decent college.
Maybe stay in Grand Blanc... that is where we lived and is a nice part of the area. They had a hotel by 75... I lived right off I75...
When we first moved to the area, until we found the home, we stayed at the Super 8 on Miller Road... it wasn't bad.. at least it wasn't in 98. lol That strip near the mall on Miller Road, had a few chains of hotels that are known to be decent.

Thanks, FB! I will check into all of the ones you talked about.
Anyone else? Barb???
I lived in Owosso for 3 years back in the late 70's early 80's, but only went to Flint about twice during that time.
Sorry I haven't had a chance to respond sooner...
The Comfort Inn on Holly Rd, Grand Blance, right off of 75...it is an easy transition from there to Baker... :friend

Thanks, Barb. I should have waited for your response. I booked with the Comfort Inn on Dixie Hwy in Birch Run. That will make us back-track about 20 minutes to get to Baker, but that's ok. After we finish at Baker we are going to Frankenmuth to meet Justin's former foster sister for lunch or supper at Zehnder's. I thought about booking us into the hotel at Zehnder's but it has a waterpark and we are not bringing Keith for this trip. Try to imagine if we come home and Justin tells Keith about staying where there's a waterpark (which at 18 he's not especially interested in, but at 14 Keith definately IS interested in) LOL!! Talk about major disappointment for one son. I just couldn't make myself do it.
