I know there are going to be lots of neg jokes about the conservatives, but I can take it! Who all is going to the AMC conference the end of this month? I am hoping we will get to! I could use a "get away"! To get away, be in a fine hotel and hear some wonderful preaching.....and be with my husband while my children are with their Nonna! Yep, I am all for it!

My black suit is in for alterations....so I can't go.
I doubt if I'll go.
P.S. I wasn't asked to preach this conference this year
(or any other year)
I went one night last year and was so under conviction about accessing the internet and having allowed my teenagers to have cell phone after going that I just don't think I can go this year!

I personally enjoyed Brother Meade´s message the best last year. However some of the messages I did not get to hear as I was not real well. My husband said Brother Pixler´s message was very good.
I am not a conference person so it is nothing personal I just don´t enjoy most conferences...I had rather be in the backlands of some mission field...lol...

All that fancy dressing and matching outfits make me unconfortable...
Don´t believe in any type jewelry but all those flashy expensive clothes ... kinda feel out of place... One is just as bad as the other in my opinion...yeah I know I should have been Amish...ha...

Actually I would love to go again and it would be an honor to hear either of those men preach.
I respect that it is a closed conference for ministers (although I consider myself and all people to be ministers of a sort!)
I went last year at the specific invitation of an ultra con Elder as his guest. I enjoyed the singing and the first 45 minutes of the sermon the night I was there and all of it was interesting.
If it were open to the public I would definitely go again. I love experiencing all the branches of Oneness Pentecost first hand.
I am still trying to convince Elder Epley to take me to a snake handling church here in TN or Kentucky. I know he knows where some are!

Oh my, I am sorry! Apostolic Ministers Conference and it will be held at the Gaylord Hotel in Nashville! It is a mixed group of UPC, AMF, Ind. and any other oneness ministers that tend to lean on the more conservative side of life........... okay okay, maybe Ultraconservative! :)

Well, and not to be critical, but, I don't think I'll be attending...
* The Conference is for Ministers only.
* Their magazine is for ministers only.
* Their audio sermons are for ministers only.
So much for....
Thus, the Apostolic Ministerial Conference is not about personalities, politics or personal agendas but rather propagation, preservation and the power of the Apostolic Message.

I am not exactly sure why, but I do know that the preaching is definately directly for the ministry. I was there several years ago and the preacher really hit home and began to preach about a minister's role....and all that goes with it.... It really isn't for anyone other than the ministers... And I don't think they are trying to be rude about it.... It is kinda like when the PK's (Preacher Kids) have their own conference.... It's not to leave other youth out, but it's just designed for them..
I don't care where one may stand on the conservative or liberal scales, every minister, imo, needs to some to be preached too. I have seen many men preach week after week, and then very seldom get fed themselves... It is a time of refreshing!

Sometimes the nicer clothes last longer, I have several dresses that I did spend more money on, but they have lasted for years and classics never go out of style.

I got to thinking in the night some may take my words wrong...but I mean no harm at all...I just don´t care for dozens of dresses and matching shoes and purses...I am always saying something about waste to my kids and church folks...that is just me and my personality...
Last week was Raul Jr´s daughter´s birthday I thought it to be to much and told him so...but they are used to me and just laugh...however they know I would not and did not waste money on endless shopping sprees to keep up with whoever...
I like the folks at all the campmeetings...nothing against the people at all...I owe my whole life to God´s people that have supported me for 40 years but I don´t plan on using their money for matching clothes...I feel unconfortable in those surroundings...my family feels fine...
I would have liked going to Tulsa not because of the UPC split or whatever but because most of them believe in women in ministry...I would have felt more confortable...

I gotta ask though... why are audio sermons "Intended for Ministers Only"? Thats.... odd.
The reason is, that it is a ministers conference designed to speak directly to ministers. My understanding is there are two primary reasons for the restrictions.
1. So that the speakers can speak transparently without worrying about ramifications in the church they pastor.
2. In our day many believe that certain things should not be addressed in conferences and similar venues for fear of causing confusion in a local church when members hear something different than what they are normally taught. In a ministers only venue the preachers can preach what they feel without pastors in the audience worrying about what Bro/Sis ----- are thinking right now. One can speak and the others can judge.
It has been a blessing to our family over the years.

Actually that night the preacher held the pulpit for over 2 hours!!!! That is not counting the preliminaries or praise and worship. He did sing two or three songs before he preached that was part of that 2+ hours but the 2+ hours did not count the altar service after the preaching.

ya know what? I actually sat and listened to Bro. Alvear and he preached around 2 hours and when he ended, I was thinking it had only been a short time! you are so right! I have been around pentecost all my life and I have heard lots of men preach..... I have heard many scream and with out the anointing, they only lose their voice....
I have no problem with preachers getting excited while preaching....I love it! As far as this conference goes, I have only heard 2 of the men preach... Bro. Morton and Bro. Groce..... I heard Bro. Morton preach once but I have heard Bro. Groce preach on several occasions.... I pray I will be blessed if I am able to go this year!

What I really enjoy is 30 minutes of annointed preaching/teaching.
Do we all think that ya gotta be that long, two hours, to be annointed?
Do we think God can't speak to and move his people in less than 45 minutes?
We put to many limitations on God with our preconcieved ideas of what "good church" is.
Sister Alvear

Sometimes we do not understand anointing and we set spellbound by "speakers"...(not talkin about anyone or anything said here) however I sat spellbound listening to Obama...In fact I was almost weeping before he was finished...
In Pentecostal churches I have been amazed of how little passion for God I have witnessed...People are so focused on themselves that they lack passion for the lost. So caught up in cliques we tend to focus on clothes instead of the heart...and yes, I do keep old time standards...so this is NOT coming from someone you would consider liberal.
Churches and groups may run awhile on their reputation, but will soon die as dead as any formal, ecclesiastical church in the world. May God give us fresh visions, fresh manna, everyday baptisms of His spirit and fill our hearts with His love...
I have seen too many men wanting names for themselves, positions of power and on and on...maybe because I am just an old mother in Israel and not interested in organizations but a burning passion to make Jesus burns in my heart.
Is there enough passion in the soul of the church? Do we have our conferences trying to outdo and out number the other one across town?
"Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you." -- 2 Timothy 1:6....
Work while it is day...night cometh...
Right now I have preachers that are in need...no not for a nicer home or a car to drive...most have neither but they call me asking to help them on their building projects, bus money to get into back land places...
NO, I really don´t feel confortable at Gayland hotel...or anywhere like that...not because of a conference but because my money can be spent on something in my eyes more noble...(no offence intended...you would just have to know me)

I don't care how long a preacher is up there as long as he has heard from God.... All I was saying is that if a preacher has heard from God, I don't care how long it is! A former pastor of mine was known for being long winded.... But, there were times we he got up and spoke for 10 minutes and the altar was full.... It doesn't matter how long they are up there IMO....but they better have heard from God.....

Yes but you do have to remember that when preachers preach that long they are risking cutting into some saints valuable tv watching time! And that just isn't fair! I mean to expect one to listen to the Word of God for as long as they would for a made for tv movie is just unthinkable! I say, just drop the preaching all together, sing a few songs do a little dance and let the folks get home in time for their programs of choice,. You know you can only Tivo so much.
