View Full Version : Integrity
I would like to ask three questions.
1. What is integrity to you?
2. How do you know when you lose it?
3. How do you get it back?
I had someone send me something that sparked these questions, so I await your responses?

IMO integrity comes is a couple ways, but I think that there is only really 1 type. There is the integrity that people say you have. i.e. such and such 'is a true person' or they are 'real'. Those are peoples opinion of ones integrity. My true definition of "REAL" integrity is who you are and what you are when the door is shut and you are all alone. Are you honest with God, others and yourself? That is what integrity is to me. There are many way I think one can lose it. Like I say how they act when they are alone goes a long way to making or breaking it. There are a tons of ways you can lose it publicly.
I think the biggest question is how do you regain it. If you are talking on a public scale then there needs to be people that see there is a serious change in character. No one can change in one day, IMO. I think someone can make the choice to change, but change takes time to develop. With any change in a persons life (spiritual or physical) there is a place that balance needs to be obtained. My philosophy is if your words no good you names no good and if your name is no good no one will believe what you say wether it is truth or not.

Very good. I agree 100% with this.

One of my favorite sayings is "Character is what you are in the dark."

1. Holding to moral and ethical principals even when it may fly in the face of ones you love.
2. You will know.
3. Ask forgivness from those your failure has effected, most of all forgive yourself and refer back to # 1.
Integrity is not something you put on from day to day.
It, like salvation, must be a way of life..

Integrity is telling the truth and being intellectually honest and doing the right thing no matter the cost.

The Bible speaks to revealing one character. Luke 12:3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
I thinks this speaks to ones character on two sides. If you speak good in the darkness you will be rewarded in goodness. If you speak evil or vile in the darkness when the light shines it will shine on your vileness and you will reap vile things. This is how many people and ministers get into trouble. They tend to think that God's mercy will hide sin. Sometime God hides it if it is dealt with properly, but at other times God exposes the nasty in open daylight so it can not be ignored anymore.

I think that is why we're seeing so many things exposed now.

True and sin can only be hidden for so long and then after we won't confess and make things right, God exposes the sin.

Integrity: A trait going the way of dinosaurs, unfortuneately from what i've seen heard and experienced, but it is something worth more than all the gold ever made.
It is good moral fiber. Someone that keeps their word, and sees to it that any promises made are not broken., somewho whom takes pride in their work ethic as well.
#2? I dont know, except that, a person of integrity naturally has the continuing integrity to not fluctuate, thereby losing it., #3 is moot to this #2.
