I'm at Renda's for a few days to try to help out a little, and just to hang out and have a little fun! She's doing fabulous, in fact is out letting the dog out right now. She's very independent!! Continue to pray for a miraculous and quick recovery.

Oh no, I've been forgotten!
It's such a blessing to have a friend like Sherri! She brought tons of groceries and is planning on cooking low-fat meals for us! She gave me a choice of three menus to cook today - - - I'm going to be spoiled!!!!
Who would have ever thought 30 years ago that my JCM friend would be in my home taking care of me (and she's my pastor's wife too)!!!!!

30 years ago would any of us have thought any of us would ever need knee replacement surgery?
Would I, the guy who drank milkshakes to try and gain weight, have thought I would be fat????!!!!

Are you coming to Jackson?
Yes m'am. Taking a road trip w/ the kids and mom to visit Darcie. We'll be there for spring break. We'll arrive this Saturday ... Jaeli is celebrating her 4th birthday on that day.
It would be great to meet you, also, Tamor.

Hello Renda the Rock ... Hoping and praying for your recovery.
It's good to have friends, ain't it????!!!
How fun! How long are y'all planning to stay? I'll try to hook up with you guys while you're here.
For a week ... We'll be leaving on Saturday March 22cd in the evening.
Maybe one of you Tennessee folks can tell me which you think is the best route to Jackson from Houston, TX ...
Option A -Mapquest is giving me this route (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/77478/38305).... a straight shot and shorter time ... but sometimes I just don't trust Mapquest ....
Option B - While Google Maps ... is a little longer ... but I find them to be more reliable ...
Here are their directions. (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=77478&daddr=38305&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=37.052328,70.488281&ie=UTF8&z=6)
Any thoughts? Which might be more scenic?

I hope it works out that I'll get to see ya while you are in the area!

Renda is reading all her mail right now. Lots of cards and get well wishes! Thanks to everyone who has been so sweet and supportive! We laid around this morning and watched an old movie that we hadn't either one seen for years ("I Love Trouble"). I brought a whole bag of old movies, so we won't get bored.
Tonight, I'm cooking whole wheat pasta with meat sauce, but the meat is that really low fat ground beef. It's better than it sounds! It will seem strange to NOT be in church on Wednesday night.

Renda's beautiful DIL came by tonight and I got to meet her. She brought some fruit salad and visited for a while. Tonight, we watched TV for a while and we watched "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" this afternoon. Renda has gone to bed early tonight; I think we stayed up too late last night!!!
Eddie called me just now and said they were just leaving church; that it was a great service. I hate that I missed that, but I'm glad I'm here!

Having Sherri give up this time to come stay with me has been such a humbling blessing to me!
I treasure my friendship with Sherri!
One of the things that I dreaded the most about going through this surgery was the "being alone" and I have not been alone one bit. God has shown me how blessed I am and I have NO FEAR of being alone.
I had nine flower arrangements in the hospital and was the envy of everyone. The nurses would comment on how I must really be loved.
Then I've received a lot of cards and I get so excited to have MAIL! Then, calls of friends checking on me - - -it really has let me know that God cares for me and I'm so fortunate to have so many in my life to care and love me.
Why was I worried about being alone? In our own selves sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees - so this has been a wonderful experience for me to be reassured that I am so fortunate!
Having Sherri here has been awesome!

It was so good to get out and feel a little bit normal.

I would have sent a card, but I'm so behind, I still have my rent check (that pays me up from December to May) in my drawer, even though I called my landlord weeks ago to tell him I was mailing it to him in Florida!!!
I have a TODO list that is only growing. I'm on spring break but working about 70 hours this week. Add to this LR's family here with her grandma being in the hospital and passing away (and I just got back from her funeral), and I've been busy!!
If I were closer, I'd come see ya....if I had time!! LOL!
As for being alone, I know what that feeling is like, but like you, I was lucky to have friends that took care of me as well. I'm forever grateful to them.
I was going to send a card but finding those ones with the big print is no easy task!

I've got my laptop by my recliner so hopefully I will be able to be on a little bit more now.
I'm doing pretty good I believe - just going to take time to get back up to full speed again and I have to learn to be patient!
In a couple of weeks I will graduate up to a cane. I came up with the idea of covering the cane in color fabric to be different and not just some ole lady using a cane.
I have a friend that has made a few covers for the cane and she will be bringing them over this afternoon. I requested a leopard cover and she so got into it that she's made a few more than I can change out to match my outfits - LOL!

I had chicken and rice for lunch that Sherri made while she was here - it's good. The chicken soup sounds good too.
Yes, it's a lesson that I'm learning - to let others do for me. I'm always the one doing for others and it's very hard for me to sit back and let other take care of me. I've been very blessed!
Hope you are recouping good too!
I had chicken and rice for lunch that Sherri made while she was here - it's good. The chicken soup sounds good too.

That's awesome, Renda!!! I know you will just look cute as can be with that leopard cane!!
By the way, those crock pot meals are on sale at Kroger this week for $4.99 if you want someone to pick up a couple for you. I have the Dumpling one cooking now, and it smells wonderful. We'll see what Mr. Ed thinks when he gets home.

Ok, the Chicken and Dumpling crock pot meal is not nearly as good as the Chicken and Rice one. The Banquet Chicken & Rice with Herbs is the very best! The chicken and dumpling one is just fair; the dumplings are kind of blah and more like flat noodles. It kind of reminds me of the Chicken Harvest soup at O'Charley's, which is good, but it's just soup. It's not like Chicken and Dumplings should be, texture-wise.
However, it's cheap and very easy, which are two definite pluses! I'm still going to try the beef stew one though. So far, chicken and rice is winning!

Maybe by next week - just a couple times is all. The ladies at work are bringing me dinner a couple times a week starting Sat.
I still have a lot of "your" food - - - haven't had anyone pick up anything for me yet.
I talked to Carolyn yesterday and told her I loved her lasagna......lol! My leg lifts aren't enough exercise to counter the extra calories though.
Alex, will be bringing more pictures for me to look at tomorrow during my therapy. He takes the pictures at Bellevue of their Passion Play and he brought those yesterday to distract me. One of my worse pains hit during therapy yesterday - just as I looked at his picture of Jesus hanging on the cross and my pain seemed so small in comparison to thinking of what Jesus did for me.

Wow Renda,
That looks awful. I didn't think they had to do such a big incision for that any more. You've been through a lot, haven't you? Can you tell if your knee is working better, feeling better than before the surgery? I have a torn maniscus[sp] and have procrastinated about getting it fixed.
We're just far to young to have knee problems like this. :)

Yes, it has to be that long because they saw the tibia and femur and take the knee out.
I can't really judge yet because I won't have full range of motion or be back to normal for a couple more months. However, I feel assured that it will be MUCH better once I get through all the therapy!
