"(TULSA, Okla.) March 14 - A midtown Tulsa couple came home Thursday afternoon to find a missile had hit their apartment.

The missile, containing a dummy warhead, was dropped by an Air National Guard aircraft around 3pm, hitting the Canyon Creek apartments near 51st and Lewis. The pilot intended to drop the missile over a field in Kansas.

The missile was partly buried in the foundation of the apartment complex and knocked out electricity. Power was restored by PSO around 11pm.

The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and Tulsa police all examined the scene. No injuries were reported.

Tulsa police say the missile was a 25 pound practice bomb. They say the missile did not cause a fire, but is designed to send up a puff of smoke when dropped."

Did you know that somewhere back in the 1950's a US bomber accidentally dropped a nuclear bomb?

It landed (I believe) in the Savanah River very near the mouth of the river.

It has never been found.
