My daughter in law Marcela likes to kid me because I love liquid soap...so she says liquid soap is my downfall! When she buys me a present is is usually liquid soap...
I love your Dollar Trees in the states...I always ge me several bottles of it to take back to Brazil as it is very expensive here.
So I guess we could make this our confession thread...ha...

I colored my hair the other day. And I wear really cheap sunglasses that look expensive. And I wear age inappropriate clothing because I don't want to be old. I have braces and plan to get my teeth whitened when they come off in a couple of months. I wear black so that I look thin (now that's definitely a relative use of the word 'thin'!)

I had to look up metrosexual as it's a new term for me. Wikipedia says it's men with 'high disposable incomes' and who shop at the 'best shops'.

I guess that would make me a Target-Metrosexual since that's where I get most of my stuff. And Wal-Mart. I'm definitely a cheap date. I usually get my celebrity glasses at gas stations for like $4.99. :)

I also have a couple of those satchel looking shoulder bags to carry my MacBook in, which I bought to be cool and post-modern looking. Dumb move. I hate it. Prob gonna sell it and buy a Dell. All my Bible software stuff gums up the processor and it's a real pain in the donkey when I'm trying to do homework. Vanity has it's price I guess. I do look cool in school though and I'm the only one who can get Wi-Fi in class. So I usually work on my MySpace or Facebook profiles so all the youngun's think I'm cool. Mark Simpson introduced the word into our everyday vocabulary. In a Salon.com article on David Beckham from 2002 titled "Meet the Metrosexual (http://www.salon.com/ent/feature/2002/07/22/metrosexual/)," Simpson provides the true meaning of his coinage:
"The typical metrosexual is a young man with money to spend, living in or within easy reach of a metropolis -- because that's where all the best shops, clubs, gyms and hairdressers are. ... he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference." Boiled down to its essence, the term refers to a single man who loves to indulge and pamper himself -- going against the stereotype of men as boorish slobs with questionable grooming habits.

Well, not exactly. I shave my mono-brow and trim my eyebrows when I'm out in the yard doing the hedges. Sometimes I use my razor to shave the outsides of my ears. Fingers, no, I just pick 'em.

I'm tellin' ya, I'm not a real Metrosexual. I'm a cheap, facsimile. A wannabe. A shadow, an archetype. I'm like that guy that comes to the preaching conferences that looks and dresses like a preacher and sits on the front row and acts all preacherly with is big KJV but nobody knows who he is and he doesn't ever get to preach anywhere and actually works the graveyard at 7-11. That's me when it comes to coolness. :)

OK, so vanity? I am obsessed with grooming my eyebrows, can't stand for there to be stray hairs.

I HAVE to have my nails and feet done, usually the nails every two weeks, and the pedi's once a month.

I would love to get a facial at least once a month, but I generally put Starbucks in front of that with my finances.

I have to buy a new pair of Ray-Bans every few years, but I try to get them on E-bay, so I don't feel too bad about it.

I'm not a real high maintenance girl, the only thing I HAVE to have name brand is perfume. No cheap perfumes, blech!

Other than that is Walmart, Target, Ross, Burlington, and Goodwill all the way!!

How'd the Chucks work out for ya last night?

I'd recommend Crocs but they tend to fly off when you're rounding the corners and you can turn an ankle real bad. Which isn't the worst part though. The worst part is when you start cussin' real loud and everybody looks at you and you have to start acting like your speaking in tongues. Then when you start shaking your leg at the same time because your ankle hurts real bad everybody thinks you're doing the shockamoo. :shockamoo

Actually, I think that's how the shockamoo first started! That's what they taught us in Bible college anyway. It's one of those urban legends, like cutting off the ends of your Thanksgiving ham. Turns it out was started by a lady whose pan was too small. But everybody copied her and a tradition was born.

And now you know, the REST of the story. Isn't history cool?

{AP goes back to his homework to write some stuff about incompatibilist free will, meticulous providence, and the kenosis, among others. He'll be back for a mental break when his brains starts sweating.}

I really like "name brands", designer fashions etc....since my budget and or being cheap limits that, I shop Marshalls, Kohls, Gordmans, Ross etc and of course nothing beats a good clearance rack at Dillards.

I agree with the real deal in fragrance. Better quality for sure.

hehe. Don't get your hopes up. The only place I skip daintly through is the auto parts section at Wal-Mart. I'm usually whistling, "I'm a little teapot, short and stout...." under my breath. :)

To be very honest, my picture of Bro. A_PoMo is much different than

would surprise us all if we really knew him.

And I doubt that he needs Falla's schooling!

Sis. Dizzyde,

I can relate to the bolded. About once or twice a year, my husband of
almost 49 yrs. (July) buys me a large bottle of Cashmere Mist by Donna
Karin, which is something I really enjoy. It makes me feel nice and is a
nice soft fragrance. Even my pastor tells me regularly, "You smell nice",
when he bends down to greet me. He's well over 6 ft., I am 5"5.

Lest I forget to mention it, "He's my son in law". LOL!!!:winkgrin

I love your Dollar Trees in the states...I always ge me several bottles of it to take back to Brazil as it is very expensive here.
So I guess we could make this our confession thread...ha...

Sis. Falla,

I am the same way, I stick to one fragrance, I usually wind up changing it every few years. I don't like a real heavy fragrance, and whatever my current favorite is, I continually get compliments. For the last few years I have been wearing "Miracle" by Lancome. I really like it a lot!!

You relieved me when you said your pastor was your son-in-law, I was worried he was flirting with you!! :heeheehee

ah... the only liquid soap I will use now is warm vanilla sugar foaming soap from bath & body works. I blame that on my sister in law, who gave me some in a gift bag for Christmas a couple of years ago. Before that, I'd settle for the dollar store brands of liquid hand soap.

My favorite perfume- Sand & Sable. My husband might strangle me if he knew that I paid approx $24 for a bottle of perfume. He'd really freak out though if I was still using what I used BEFORE I married him. It was $45 a bottle....... 20 years ago. :D I don't even know what it costs now. I'm scared to even check the price.

I rarely splurge on ANYTHING for myself... I'm a major clearance rack, yard sale and thrift store shopper, I clip coupons and send off rebate forms for refunds on stuff..... So I save him tons of money. He can't complain. ;)

I am a coffee snob. I cant hardly stand the stuff you get at the grocery store. I grind my own beans. It has to be very good or I will NOT drink it.

Sis. Dizzyde,

"Miracle" By Lancomb is our eldest daughter's favorite also. It is very
nice on her.

Incidentally, my pastor son in law calls me "Momma", another "Mom"
and the third calls me "Nancy". I answer to all three. I also have 3 sons
who call me "Mom". I love being a mother and grandmother. I also love
being a sister, aunt, friend, neighbor. I just love being...God's daughter!:happydance I don't believe that's being vain though!:heart:heart

Yep... and you probably hear it from people like me. I'd love to have curly hair. My hair is waist length... straight as a board... and even putting in a perm doesn't do much for it. It's STILL gonna be straight! I'd be happy if I could just use hotsticks, or rollers and have curl last through a two hour church service! I don't even bother trying to curl it anymore. It just occured to me - if we are talking vain habits in that we are referring to habits that make us appear vain, then that's one thing.

On the other hand, if we are talking vain habits in that we are referring to habits that we do in vain - well then! That's a whole other story.

In that case, one of my big vain habits is that everytime I walk past the computer, I check to see who has said what on AFF. LOL!!! :ursofunny

I inherited a love for mirrors like my dad.. trait was passed to my oldest daughter.... neither of us can pass one without stopping to check things out and rearrange anything if needed. Only car accident I've had was checking myself in the rearview mirror and crashed into someone. Store windows or anything that gives reflection will work too.. :D

Vanity...vanity... eyebrows have to be waxed... if I am running short on money or time and don't get them done, they drive me crazy.

Shoes...love shoes and when I have a new pair, walk with my head down admiring them... don't need anyone to like the new shoes.. I can check them out all by myself... thanks to mirrors..windows... and just plain lookin' down at them. :gaga

now if I could just be vain enough to lose weight...
