Dottie Rambo was with us tonight in concert. I must say, I was very suprised. Last time I heard her sing, she was very weak. She was GREAT tonight. She sounded real strong. I was able to spend time with her after the concert. I must say, she is VERY KIND! I have TONS of pictures. I will post this one, but will post more later.
THAD: She wore a dress! :winkgrin

Thanks LaGirl! That woman has written many a fine tune! It's hard to imagine her being able to pick out just a few for a concert...she's written so many wonderful songs...
Did she comment on her UPC roots or what it was like to be there for her??

she said she had written over 2500 songs and is working on enough songs for THREE more projects!

she kept saying how kind we all were. not sure if you know her story, but some UPC folk were VERY ugly to her back in the day. it has been years since she has been in a UPC church. she kept saying over and over how kind we were. i guess she wasnt expecting us to be nice! lol
there was one time she was singing, she stopped and closed her eyes. tears were running down her face. she said, "not sure about yall, but I feel the Holy Presence sweep over me." the lady may not dress like we do, but she is VERY annointed!
Can I tell you know who about this ? please i really want to
I will say, she toned it down for you all
I hate it that I didn't get to meet her. that has always been a dream of mine.
I wonder what TWB was thinking from the balcony of heaven

she still wore those clip ons. BTW, I heard she never pierced her ears. all her earrings are snap ons

I was there the first night Dottie sang "There is Nothing My God Can't Do" as a child. It was her first song someone sent it to Govenor Jimmie Davis and the rest is history. The place was saturated with the Holy Ghost that night. Elder Jimmie Russell had just preached that message and Dottie wrote the song. It is one of those high moments you revisit as a child. What could and should have been. I am sadden this story does not have a happy ending. I only hope she can't get some restoration before she leaves here.

The Rose song was probably her song about the Rose...(profound huh?)
it's a very beautiful song comparing the process of a rose being crushed to the life and crucifixion of Jesus...
"scarlet red its petals, opened in full bloom. Taking nothing but the sunshine, leaving fragrance in the room..."
and
"hands reached without a reason
crushed and brused the perfect rose
Causing yet a sweeter fragrance, as the healing water flowed....
Ugly thorns had never marred it, till a crown of thorns he wore....
Tasting death the rose of sharon, rose to bloom forever more"
This is from memory, so I could be a tad off...in fact, I'm sure I am....
I used to listen to this song on record, over and over and over
