I viewed the site and listened to some of the songs, which reminded me of the songs I sang years ago while growing up in the boonies. I loved those country gospel songs!
Anyway, I hope that you have a blessed time during the conference.

Although I must say the boonies my mama grew up in in Mississippi were wayyyyyyyyyyy out in the boonies, and still is. Some of the "roads" if you are not family you just don't drive down them seriously.

Well, I'm not gonna argue that point, but where I grew up was about as country as you can get in CA. You ever read Grapes of Wrath? Those migrant worker camps are about 15 miles from where I was raised. (except for a 2 year period in SoCA.)

:depressedCheese stixs sounded like she knew something about Texas boonies! Some of the homes I grew up in was so far out in the boonies that the only friends I had were trees!
I went to a school that the first floor was junior high and the second floor was high school. The number of graduates in a given year was anywhere from 20-30 students. When the bell rang, the students would stay seated, while the teachers rotated from classroom to classroom.

OK, OK, you win. Of course my graduating class only had 3 people, but it was a Christian school!!! :happydance
Dude, seriously, where did you grow up? I will concede, it sounds like it qualifies more for the boonies than where I am from... (I hate conceding) :toofunny

My husband always says, some people get to big for their britches...but only in their eyes...
My husband is so down to earth...bless his heart. He sure loved the Dawson's too. A lot of American preachers don't seem to impress him but the Dawson's sure did.

Here's a funny joke for you:
Two nuns were driving alone out in the boonies. They ran out of gas. Fortunately they could walk to a gas station not far away, where they asked to purchase a can of gasoline. "I'm sorry, sister," said the attendant, "but all I have for you to carry it in is an old chamberpot. The nuns agreed that this would be fine. They returned to the car.As they were pouring the gasoline into the tank, a man drove by, stopped his car, and said, "Oh sister, if only I had your faith."
I think the official name of that organization is The Churches of Jesus Christ International. Bishop Mark Lawson chartered an organization named The Church of Jesus Christ in 1927. I was licensed in that group in 1959 for a while. Over the years there have been splits and fragmenting and today there are several different groups who have used the name of Church of Jesus Christ in some form or another. One group that I belonged to in the early nineteen sixties was called "The Church of Jesus Christ, Pentecostal Faith." Headquarters were in Niles, MI and our Presiding Bishop (Bishop Brock) pastored a church in Indianapolis, IN. The organization headquartered in Cleveland, TN who is having the conference at the end of this month is presided over by Boyd Lawson who is the son of the late Mark Lawson.
The organization has two web sites right now.
One is
http://www.angelfire.com/tn3/cojci/
If you go there it may take a while to load.
This is an older site that has not been updated in a couple of years.
A newer site which is still under construction is:

You are right, I was able to get out of there before I got close minded, and judgemental against everything. Dont worry I thank the Lord quit often for allowing me to be raised a good portion of my life going to the church I attend now. Geesh, I would say less than 5% of the Young people my age from Weedpatch is living for God now. I think it had something to do with preach it so hard they couldnt live it. Oh well, one of the old weedpatchers just left my office with their judgmental attitude, so I am a little bit put off right now, I need a Christmas tree in my office to worship right now.:boxing

Yes,
Stupid people always get me in a good mood. Especially ones that tell me how our Young People are going to hell. I want to bust them up. If they talked about our elders I am cool, but dont mess with the YP.

YES!! :toofunny You don't understand, I really am a hick! My family all came from TX/OK/AK. My dad was born and raised in CA, and when he is traveling around the state, people are always asking him where he is from, thinking he is a southerner! My mom grew up in TX (Wichita Falls).
