View Full Version : I Am Getting Old!
Ahhhhh! When I turned 40 a little over 4 years ago I have had to use Reading Glasses of about 175 strength. Up until that time I had never previously needed
glasses, but the other day I was at my computer trying to read some small print and it was all fuzzy.
I thought, "great, maybe God healed me!"
I took them off & no, things were still fuzzy.:crazywalls
I went into the store and got 200 strength reading glasses.
It worked!
That means my eye sight is slowly getting worse!!!
Will I need a cane soon, or just end up with Coke bottle bottom glasses!!!:reaction

getting?
:D
So, you turned 40 a little over 4 years ago.
You're still a kid to me.
And I don't mean that disrespectfully.
I have 5 children who range in age from 41 to 48 so you are in the age range of my kids.
175 or 200 strength reading glasses? I think mine are 250.
About the time we reach 40 we get presbyopia. Our eye loses elasticity and we can't see close up items as well. Similar to gray hair and wrinkles, presbyopia is a symptom caused by the natural course of aging. We hold stuff farther out and pretty soon our arms aren't long enough so we have to get reading glasses or bifocals. That's the natural progression in this world that has been thrown out of whack because our parents (Adam and Eve) sinned way back there.
Just tell yourself that the presby part is the same base word as presbyter which means elder and the other part comes from where our word optics or optical comes from. Instead of saying you have "old eyes" say that you have the eyes of an elder. And, Ron, you are an elder in the body of Christ.
P.S. How's that church plant going? I don't think you've mentioned anything since the first weekend of service.

Thanks for asking Sam, it is going really well.
Yesterday we had 22 in service with a few out, so all in all we are progressing.
I have done some Adult SS Teaching & since last Sunday I am doing the Worship leading from now on.
We purchased a drum set & we will soon have someone playing the drums along with a bass, acoustic guitar, and piano to help our worship.
We appreciate the prayers & feel that all of you here in helping us in your prayers, are having a part in it as well.
God Bless!
Ron

See, Ron, if the folks in the AFF family pray for you and that new work, when you get your reward in Heaven, we'll get a share of it too.

I turned 49 years old yesterday and I have news for you. It only gets worse!!!
I have had to wear glasses since I was about 10 but starting about 4 years ago at age 45 I got to wear I was having trouble reading menu's, the computer screen, etc. Sure enough in addition to my longstanding nearsightedness all of a sudden I needed reading glasses also. Now I have to wear bifocals.

Aw, quit complaining you bunch of young whippersnappers!!
I'm 70 and wearing trifocals, plus my arthritis limits me from doing some stuff I want to
But
this body is the temple of the Holy Ghost
and
one of these days Jesus is gonna change it so it's like His glorified body.
