Am I your brother?
yes,
and so is a man I know (he belongs to a Missouri Synod Lutheran church) who believes aborted babies cannot go to heaven because they have not been baptized.
In my opinion, if a person has a personal relationship with Jesus, that person is my brother or sister whether we agree doctrinally on everything or not.
Again, to quote the Scriptures:
"If you believe that Jesus is the Christ --that he is God's Son and your Savior --then you are a child of God. And all who love the Father love his children too." (TLB)
"Every person who believes that Jesus is, in fact, the Messiah, is God-begotten. If we love the One who conceives the child, we'll surely love the child who was conceived." (The Message)
"Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him." (KJV)

Certainly you're my brother! Was there ever any doubt? I consider you my brother but it doesn't have to be reciprocal. :) One of these days our mutual Heavenly Father is going to show me what that pain is you are experiencing. When He does you are going to be a different man.

Well, it is, isn't it?
We just don't agree on when we are saved or when we are filled with the Spirit, or what the purpose of baptism is. But we all agree that Acts 2:38 is the only proper response to the gospel. Ask Dan. He will agree with you! :)
How many of us have been in the same situation Joseph was in?
In Genesis it says that he recognized his brothers but they didn't recognize him.

I will accept (with some exceptions) most folks that have obeyed Acts 2:38 as brothers and sisters, if they are continuing to attempt to live a life pleasing to God. I do believe there are some here that have made themselves enemies of the apostolic faith, and who leaves me with a question mark in my mind as to their eternal destination.

I certainly hope you don't expect to be our brother. I mean I may be pretty liberal in my thinking but that one would be hard to swallow.
I will consent to allowing you be our sister but don't even dare ask to be part of the brotherhood.

Could you clarify this statement some more. It seems very cloudy.

Or do you "really" mean a life pleasing to me and my convictions?

Of course. One of the ironies of the conservative vs. lib, 3 stepper vs. 1 stepper positoins is that by the very nature of each ones belief they are neccessarily very different when it comes to inclusion.
1 steppers view of salvation is a broader one encompassing a much larger group of people in cluding 3 steppers such as yourself.
3 steppers doctrine excludes those who have not completed the 3 step salvation process for being saved and therefore a "brother".
Many progressive 3 steppers do adopt the attitude of being a witness and not a judge so they sometimes interact with other Chrisitans who have not completed the 3 steps and may even call them "brother" (even though they don't believe they are saved).

Reading some of Pastor Poster's posts, the question might read better:

Paul called even those who are carnal, babies, and caused strife and division brethren.
1 Corinthians, chapter 3
1: And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2: I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3: For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

No, I "really" believe just what I said. I have friends that are one steppers that do not hold all the holiness standards that I call my Brother. To me, when someone is "born again", and attempts to live for God I accept them as in the family of God.
Please don't read into it more than is there.

The bible says to be of one mind. When Jesus said go and teach he did not send them out to teach something false.
How can a one stepper and a 3 stepper be of one mind???

While I can look at one steppers that have obeyed Acts 2:38 as born again, I do not agree with where they place the New Birth at in the equation. But it does not negate their Spiritual birth. I think you are cutting this a little closer than it should be. Being a Brother, and being right in doctrine, is 2 different things. Otherwise most all of you are lost because you believe in a pre-trib rapture. :D

The belief that one is saved at repentance is false doctrine. I didn't say it God did!!!

I'm really tempted to ask exactly where in the Bible God says this, but... that would resurrect the old One Step/ Three Step debate. So. I won't ask. No. I will not ask where God said the belief that one is saved at repentance is false doctrine.
