View Full Version : HOW LONG R YOUR SUNDAY SERVICES at CHURCH?
We attend church 1 mile from our home. There are three services 8:30, 9:30 or 11 am. One does have the option of going on Saturday evening at 5:00 pm.
My husband likes to visit a church about 20 minutes away which had a 2 hour 45 minute service today.

I think it's all according to what we are used to Joie, things have changed at our church and it is hard for me to go to morning services. I loved it when we had afternoon services but Mike didn't like it. Now we have Sun. morning services, from 9:45 to about 12:00 or a little later, and Wed. night services.
We are the only apostolic church here that I know of.

Joie- Our services start at 10:00 am and go until 11:30 sometimes 11:45 on Sunday am. Sunday night they start at 6:30pm and last until 8:00 or 8:30 pm. Our Wednesday night services start at 7:00pm and are usually over by 8:15.

Well our 9 AM service HAS to be out in time to let in the 11 AM people. The second service is a little less restrained, time wise, but usually an hour and a half is the limit. Wednesday nights can go as long as needed; some people leave if they have to, but sometimes the services have gone really long.

I accidently went to church twice today... In the Philippines, they seem to have service smack dab in the middle of the shopping malls... ran into two different services in two different malls! OF course I was only there long enough to work my way through the crowd because I was looking for a place to eat.
Under two hours in the morning ...
Spanish services are approximately 1 hr. and a half.

Both of our services, 9am & 11am are about the same length, 1 1/2 hrs. First service is a little more time restrained due to having to get people out for the arriving 2nd service folks. We normally use all the time plus a little bit extra depending on how the service ends. We don't have altar service every Sunday, but when we do, we don't worry about the time.
I don't know why we didn't go to two services earlier. Our attendance has tripled over the past 3 yrs. God is good!! :D

Sorry, fixed it! :D
My church, Christ Church Nashville has two Sunday morning services. The first one is
8:30 am - 10 am 9 (1 1/2 hours) and the second one is 11:00 am - Approx. 12:30 pm ( 1 1/2 hours). A new Sunday night service is at 6:30 pm but I don't know how long it lasts. I would guess 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
For those adults wanting to attend Sunday School classes they have a choice from around a dozen classes at 10 am on Sunday's and can go after 1st service or before the second one. Those are usually about 45 minutes long.
My wifes church has one service 10 am -11:30- Noon (1 1/2 - 2 hours)

Sunday Morning
Sunday school 10AM
Morning worship 11AM ( usually leave 'bout 1pm)
Sunday Night
Prayer meeting 6pm
Worship 6:30pm - 8pm
Wednesday
CHoir Practice 7-8pm
Evening Service 7:30pm -9pm
We drive 9.5 miles to church
Sunday morning service goes from 10:30 to a little after noon.
For the latter half of the service kids up to 5th or 6th grade go to Children's Church upstairs.
Wednesday evening service goes from 7 till a little after 8
On Wednesday we have about 80 children in the auditorium for Super Kids' Church. The number of children has grown so much lately that the pastor is in charge of that service and they have to use the auditorium to have enough room. Prior to the service they are served pizza and drinks upstairs. We have 35-50 teenagers in the basement for Youth Service. Then, those adults who are not involved in those other activities are in the Adult Bible Class which is held upstairs in a Sunday School room. There are only 6-15 adults who are able to attend the adult class. I have been teaching that group since the first of May when the children moved into the auditorium and the pastor took over that meeting.

I was watching a service on DVD the other day with a relative and we were fast forwarding through parts of it. I commented to him that didn't he wish we could that in church sometimes!

Nope, I assume one was a Catholic mass (based on the outfit the preacher was wearing...)
The Philippines is a weird mix of the very innocent/religious and the not so innocent/religious... could explain more but that's for a different thread... :)

Sunday morning 10-11:30 and Wednesday night 6:30-8:00... Do any of your churches have services for only an hour? I noticed the first poster did, I was sort of surprised. We don'r rush things in my assembly, but with singing, praying and preaching (and we don't take up an offering or point out first-time guests or anything like that), we rarely go past 2 hrs.
GOD BLESS!

I think, as in many things, service length equals quality when it comes to spirituality, meaning the longer the service the more the spirit moved and the more spiritual the spirited saints are.
