I've never had the chance of meeting Bro.Hooper but I've heard great things about his preaching ministry.

From those who have visited his church, he leans towards the liberal side on standards.

I hit the link and downloaded the service and was letting it play minimized for a bit while the music was going on and I needed to do something else. Somehow when I went back to maximize it the clip was gone and I didn't have time to download it again. Kind of weird the video is a download and not just streaming.

It was nice to see First Church full on the main floor. Looked packed out.
Was this a special service at Becton's or just a regular Sunday morning or night?

LOL!!! My wife has already rebelled over the 45 minute drive to Christ Church from where we now live. I don't think going to a church over an hour away would be the answer.

I did go to their church dedication with Pianoman a couple of years ago and it is a very nice building. I also went to Mark & Sherri Grisham's daughters wedding there.

Everybody was very nice but I must say that Ron Becton has a permanent frown on his face. I don't think he is actually angry or sad but it just is the way his face is. I can sympathize because my mouth is naturally shaped into a frown so when I am smiling I am actually just getting the corners of my mouth about straight. LOL!!!

Bro becton describes this service as the "Mid-Tenn Holy Ghost Crusade" sponsored by three churches...his, bro zunega's (SP?), and Turning point (?) bro. Burton's (again ?)...the choir is a mass choir of all three churches...so is the crowd....

Seems to me it was the global meeting...a good friend of mine that pastors in Chicago area had family coming one night of the Global meeting (the year Mark Chirronna preached...2006) and DH was coming with them I think...maybe DH is a part of that family....can't remember....may have the whole thing messed up...LOL.

But he may have popped into the Destiny meeting as well...he probably has friends in both groups.

I am sure that he probably wouldn't remember me...it was a quick introduction only....so I would guess there would be no reason to tell him hi for me...:)

I do remember meeting you. Probably confused with the Chicago connection. I don't remember any of that. I went with a friend that was in town. And, yes have many friends there.

Forgive me...I was just trying to sort out my own memories..LOL...was it global or destiny?????

I sincerely hope this thread has caused you no grief...from what I can tell, you did a great job that night--even though you had some 'big shoes" to fill with the cancellation of JC!

I love the fact that some are able to keep their friendships "across the aisle"...I commend you for that!

God bless for sure!

Pastor D, Did you preach Ontario Youth Convention in Bellville last year? If so, the folks leading the music were from my church in New Brunswick, led by our associate pastor and his wife, the Leamans.

By the way I know the inside story on how he got asked to preach this meeting when Jack Cunningham couldn't make it.

Someone on the pulpit committee spoke up and said "What names do we have in the hopper" and in the confusion someone thought he said "we ought to get Bro. Hopper".

The rest is history as they say!!!!!

LOL!!
