View Full Version : Which Bible Character Do You Feel Is Most Like You?
Aside from the obvious-Jesus. Which other Bible Character can you identify with?
For me it would be Peter, as I have some of his temperment which hopefully by the Grace of God is under a bit more control.
While not going through what Job went through, I do identify with Job in that he was an ordinary guy trying to serve the Lord, and yet troubles befell him.
Even though he didn't deny nor curse the Lord, he had this question.
Why Lord?
Is there a Bible Character you can't identify with?
Who is it?

Depends on what day it is....
Some days I feel brave as Joshua, some as old as Moses. Some days I feel as full of faith as Abraham and other days like a Doubting Thomas. Some days I feel as if I have the wisdom of Solomon and other days feel like an impetuous Simon Peter. There are days I feel as David did in battle, other days I am the Disciple who feld from the Lord. Then there are the days I speak like Paul with clarity and boldness, then there are days I am Balaam's donkey. :tiphat

The bible character I identify mostly with is Peter. Some days I feel so bold and ready to preach to the masses and other days I feel like a failure who has denied the faith.

Does the bible say anything about the fleas washed out from between the toes of the disciples? If so, I can identify with those little buggers...

I feel like I am most like Jonathan, Davids friend and Saul's son. If you and I build a friendship it will withstand any trial.
I even named my son but spelled it Johnathan.
I took my Dad's name John and My name Nathan and put them together.

Job
Job
Job 1:1
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
Job 42:10-17
10 ¶ And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. Job. 1.1-3 (http://www.bartleby.com/108/18/1.html#1)
11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.
12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.
13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.
14 And he called the name of the first, Jemi'ma; and the name of the second, Kezi'a; and the name of the third, Keren–hap'puch.
15 And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.
16 After this lived Job a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
17 So Job died, being old and full of days.

I considered that when I posted. I may post a thread about my experiences in the last few days. God has been at work.

An Extraordinary action that didn't occur with the first set of daughters. Something to ponder. :grampa

A study of his daughters' names is also fascinating ... notice they are the only ones named ... not the sons ... the meanings of each name is also special.

So Job died, being old and full of days.
I like the way the book ends in the LXX
"And Job came to an end, an old man and full of days and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up."

I guess I've felt like all of those you've mentioned.
Also, I've felt like Elijah when he prayed that he might die and said, "It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life..." 1 Kings 19:4.
I've also felt like Joseph in Genesis 42:8 where it says, "Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him."

David: He had faith to overcome any obstacle, knew how to touch the heart and throne of God...but had too much blood on his hands to be qualified to build the temple.
Jochabed: She had faith that God would work things out for her children, and she raised her son, and gave him back to God for kingdom use.
Paul: Thought he was doing the right things for the right reasons, but was wrong, repented, and God again utilized him and his gifts/education...despite the thorn in his flesh.
Mary & Martha: I love to sit at the feet of Jesus, worship, and listen, but like Martha I have a servant's heart.

Peter for the fact of all his mistakes,He preached on the day of Pentecost.
Even though failed miserably at times, grace was extended to him.
In times where I feel like an utter failure,I take courage in thinking about Peter and God's grace.

Like others, it varies.
Mary...because I love to sit at His feet.
Job...because I have been through the fire.
Joshua...because there have been times I have tried to lead others into battle.
David...because I love to worship the Lord.
Hannah...because I have no child.
Lydia...because I have/am been a business woman.
Esther...because I live in a time such as this for a reason.
