Put more simply... Is it possible, for a saved person's brain to become so sick from brain cancer, chemical imbalance, stroke, etc. that they wind up going over the edge and committing suicide... Is it possible for that to take place and that person STILL go to heaven or does suicide under any circumstances AUTOMATICALLY send a soul to hell? Please explain your answers...

Hey Rico... Good to see you. I noticed that you were away for a while, so was I. Good to see you back here. I doubt people feel the same about me. lol...

Anyway, I'm not looking for any loopholes, just the input of others. What's yours? :snapout

My input? My input is the same I would give for pretty much most of these what if kind of questions. I stand by what the Word of God says, but leave the possibility open for exceptions based on circumstances and God's judgement.

I think that God is the only one that can answer this question. Thankfully He is merciful

Well, lets use a Samson as an example, since I've always been curious about this one:

a) Did Samson commit suicide?
b) Does it appear that Samson died "saved", or "unsaved"?
(Judges 16:28-30)
28 Then Samson prayed to the LORD, "O Sovereign LORD, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes."
29 Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other,
30 Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.

I've been taught suicide is impossible to repent of.. so therfore your lost. God is the judge. I choose to believe that if someone is truly mentally ill, the Lord of course will judge with righteous judgement.

He is in the "hall of fame of faith" (Heb. 11). To me he could not be an example of faith--if he lost it.

Was he killing himself just to die, or was he killing Philistines & in the process ended up getting killed.

Kinda like the guys on the airplane that was hijacked, in Penn State, they ended up getting killed in the process of fighting the enemy!

Just a thought.

I posted the below on another similar type thread. There is humor here but there is a point contained in it.

Here is the point--Just so you don't have to try to figure it out.

I don't care to know if I will go to hell for blowing my nose into a black handkerchief, double dipping in the salsa, having 3 day old beard when the pastor makes a surprise visit, wearing open toed sandials, listening to country music in my bedroom, watching TV shows on the internet, using generic soap, scratching in unmentionable places...and such like.
I don't try to live on the edge of hell, I try to live as best I can, keep prayed up and have a lot of faith in God's Grace to deal with me day by day; ever leading me closer to Himself.

Only Three easy steps necessary for salvation.

1. No nose, ear, hair.- eyebrows no longer that 1/4 centimeter. --Must be verified by at least a pastor or Sunday School Superintendent using the international metric measurements system.
2. No yellow teeth allowed. Coffee and Tea drinkers, it is suggested you have immediate teeth whitening. Your shade of white is measured by standard dental charts and must be at least two shades whiter than the standard median tone.
3. Every event you plan to attend and every habit you have (including consumption of your favorite snacks--especially those high in sugar--) must be pre approved by the deacon board. Applications must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event and must be signed by all parties and notarized by a legal authority. Any deviations to this policy will immediately suspend your rights as a Christian and doom your soul to hell. If you decide to repent--crawling in the front door of church while wearing burlap and ashes will not be accepted (unless accompanied by $1000 donation). Those seeking restoration must submit the standard repentance form approved by the deacon board, applications are considered on the first Sunday of each five Sunday month.

Any questions regarding our salvation policy please direct to the pastor the week following his annual vacation. (His vacation application is still pending with the board. There will be a meeting soon to address the possibility of a meeting to approve this action).

All other salvation requests should be directed to the General Secretary who will forward to the quarterly board meeting of the general council. Their decision is final and cannot be questioned.

If someone kills themselves over loss (of love for example) I believe they will suffer loss in eternity, perhaps even their soul. If one kills themselves to hurt others (for example a teen killing themselves to get back at their parents) they will be lost. If one kills themselves because the agony has just become too much to bear (for example with cancer) I think God will judge justly. If someone is mentally ill and kills themselves God will judge justly.

Those are my initial thoughts.

There is no "automatically" send to hell. Many sepculate that is the case.

We serve a just God He will decide. :)

You are the first person I have ever heard state what I think in this. It is so clear to me. A person could get a cancer and get sick and die and we would all preach them into heaven. But let someone get mentally ill --brain sick--and in that sick state of mind kill themselves--most everyone would put them in hell.

That's exactly right and that's exactly how I believe. The brain is a vital organ, as is the heart, kidneys, liver, etc. We don't hesitate to preach and believe that someone is in heaven who died of a heart attack, even if it was due in large part to a lifetime of overeating, yet when someone's brain becomes ill and afflicted and they are no longer thinking with a well brain and take their life, so many quickly condemn that individual's soul to hell. Such hypocrisy and ignorance. Thank God for His mercy and grace.

I too, don't hear too many people who believe near the same lines on this topic as I do.

I think that God's grace and mercies are not limited to what man believes.

For those who believe that suicide automatically damns someone this brings up an interesting dilemma.

This is a sin for which there is no forgiveness possible. Did Christ die for suicide victims? God's grace cannot extend that far?
