Without holiness no man shall see the Lord.
How do you define holiness?
Does holiness = church standards?
Are church standards a heaven or hell issue?

holiness is in the heart given to us by god in spite of our flaws, cant be bought or earned only recieved from god, since we are human and have no holiness of our own, dt

Holiness=God's standards.
Clean heart, and a right spirit.

Holiness includes flesh and spirit thus every aspect of our lives so yes standards are part and parcel of holiness.

The two greatest commandments are to love the Lord with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.
EVERYTHING else fits into those two.
There are not enough TV's in the world to NOT watch or wedding rings to NOT wear or sleeve/dress lengths long enough to fill in the gap if you say or think a mere bad thought about your neighbor!
Which is why I am always asking myself..... Why are there no (or very very few -never heard one myself) fire and brimstone sermons about the subject of love, compassion, and long suffering?
what one does, how one acts, what one looks like, flows from, is a reflection of the Holiness of God in the life of the righteous.

I have standards, but in my Church it isn't preached, but taught, and even then not often.
You will have a greater chance on hearing preached about Christian living and attitude than anything else.

Hearing that makes me feel very good this morning! (seriously)
Sometimes I begin to almost despair when it seems that the golden rule is all but ignored in some churches.

Will it also shock you to say that I struggle with my attitude some days?
I have a long way to go to be like Jesus!

I struggle with this daily. I am constantly getting "irked" by strangers or feel "let down" by friends only to have the Lord (constantly) telling me how much WORSE I am then the person I am angry at or reminding me about how I "let down" others.
Unfortunately "love" seems to be an issue that "charismatics" preach far more than apostolics. Again, when was the last time a fiery preacher rode into town and belted out a sermon about "love" which had people running the isles? It is far more likely to happen when preaching hair, dress length, or make up...... Because those are things which have a tangible quality to them, meaning you can DO something and feel more saved as a result -and still get irked by your jerk of a neighbor.

This is how my church is as well. When my pastor was preaching a couple of Sunday nights ago he referenced some of the standards our church goes by, but he was talking about why we draw some of the lines that we do.
It was a very rare instance for those things to be discussed outside of ministry guidelines or special classes. Christian attitudes and living are definitely the meat and potatoes of what gets preached and taught at our church.
In our Wed. night Bible study we just finished up a 4 week series on forgiveness that was very powerful.

Have y'all gone Charismatic? He should be preaching the standards at least once a week.

You have a point, but isn't that always the case, the nuts and bolts of things (attitudes, love, compassion) rarely gets a shout when it is talked about?
Case in point Bro Hughes at LA Camp meeting had some good teaching, but it was quiet.
