In his message at Tennessee Campmeeting, Lee Stoneking mentioned some of the miracles that CP Thomas has seen happen in India among the Muslims. Bro. Stoneking called him an "Apostle". He supposedly has won more souls to the Apostolic message than all our other UPCI missionaries combined!

1. He wins Muslims by showing them in the Quran that Jesus is God! They recieve the Holy Ghost and he baptizes them in Jesus name! Bro. Stoneking never mentions if they switch over to the bible.

2. CP Thomas was kidnapped by Al Qaeda militants and taken blindfolded to one of the main leaders who was holding a rifle and surrounded by many others holding rifles. Supposedly, the leader asked him about what he was teaching Muslims. He went to the Quran and showed him where Jesus is God. The leader and several of the other militants supposedly received the Holy Ghost and were baptized in Jesus name!

3. The last story is hard to believe! He was beaten and left for dead in a prison cell. He prayed and told God that he really missed his family. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them he had been immediately transported to his home! There were no bruises, no blood, or any sign of haven been beaten.

Can anyone verify if these stories are true?

Here is a video about him:

I think I have actually met him. I don't believe one iota of this story. If Elder Thomas is winning souls wonderful but to say he is outdoing all the other missionaries combined is absurd. But this kind of sensationalism preached by LS and others seems to be the meat of the hour.

The stories did sound sensational to me, so I'm trying to see if anyone can verify. I know that God can do miracles, but on the other hand I know that stories can be s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d! :D

I know nothing of the miracle so I was not impugning that nor validating it.

Did Paul have a witness when he had his out of body experience?
Did Peter when the angel led him out? No one else seems to have seen the angel.

I don't know this man LS mentioned, I don't know his character. I would never say yay or nay to this on the basis of witnesses though.

In CP Thomas' case, his wife walked into the room and was surprised to see him there, so he supposedly has a witness!

Come on, Mark! You know how evangelists can s-t-r-e-t-c-h a story! I would question Dan Scott and Bro. Hardwick both if they told a story like this. I will say that since they don't normally go around telling stories like this, that I would come closer to believing it because it's not their normal style.

If an evangelist s-t-r-e-t-c-h-es a story such as this, they are lying.

I don't believe LS would purpose to lie.

Again, I don't know This Bro. Thomas, so I certainly can't vouch for what he has told.

I do believe it's entirely possible as it doesn't contradict the Word and it sounds like something my God would do.

Stories like this are told to increase our faith. I know I serve a God that is able!

I do think though, that some stories can be embellished for dramatic effect.

Should preachers be held accountable for the stories they tell, or should we always accept them at face value and never question a man of God?

GOD, of course, is able to work any miracle....However, I think there is sometimes embellishment of stories to tender the impact. Yes, preachers should definitely be accountable for stories they tell. Before I would get up and tell any story as some I have heard (NOTE: I am NOT referring to the one mentioned here-please do not take offense), I would have had to have been an eye witness. This "I heard that she heard that he said that he saw" is not KNOWING.

This shows your ignorance of both of those men's teaching and preaching. They, more than any other preachers I have ever heard, stay away from sensationalism.

In nine years I have heard ZERO sensationalistic stories from them. Only first hand personal accounts or well documented other events.

They will say for people to question what they teach or preach. To hold it up against the word of God, and to challenge them after the sermon if a person feels they are wrong about something.

They are as far from the LS National Enquirer school of preaching as you can get.

I have never heard the story before but missionaries from that region probably could tell you about this man and his work.

I do know lots of miracles happen on the field but lots of things are made up to impress others also. I read a letter from one missionary in Brazil that told of things that I have never heard of...and no I did not believe one word of it but I did not mentioned it to the people that showed me the letter.

I have told of happenings on the field and felt some did not believe what I was telling...I try to use names and dates that makes it easier for people to track...
and I do know stories get retold and retold and get bigger and bigger....

Mrs. LPW

I don't have any problem with reserving judgement, not believing everything we hear... that is only common sense.

But I would think long and hard before I called someone a liar.
If someone embellishes a story, or makes something up, they are liars and will not be saved unless they repent of it.

So it's a strong accusation. One I don't think we should make lightly.

Is it possible to embellish a story and not know it? For instance, repeating a story that was told to you! We all played the repeating game and laughed when the last person repeated the story and how much different it turned out than the original!

There could be elements of evangelistical hyperbole in this story but I still believe in the power of the Gospel to

save and the supernatural ....

If elements of story can be corroborated it needs to be documented ... even shared w/ the news services ...

especially if Al Quaeda militant leaders and kidnappers were converted to Christ. This would edify the Body of

Christ.

Do I believe God can transport someone to safety w/o bruises ... ABSOLUTELY.

There is more about CP and the church who put out this video here http://www.spiritoflifebiblechurch.org/INDIA_d4048520736d5eb1d187c49733.html

It is like the game, telephone. It takes a surprisingly FEW amount of telling's and retelling's to completely change a story in any direction -usually to the more dramatic.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

LS preaches false doctrine. i've heard his stories for years. Remember one about him sitting in a plane during a storm and he looked out the window and saw himself sitting on the wing. Said it was his angel cause his angel looked like him. Said all our guardian angels look like us. Used the case of Peter and Rhoda...they thought it was his ghost, etc.

As far as I'm concerned, this sounds like the pastor who was baptizing all those Jews in Nebraska...somebody's gonna bust hell wide open.

Both AD Urshan and BRo Barnes have talked about being
transported to other places supernaturally.

well, seems like that happened with Philip the evangelist in Acts chapter 8.
I've heard of it happening with a missionary named Garlock (can't remember the first name) when he was miraculously moved over a rain-swollen river and suddenly found himself on the other side. When he had to return back after he had ministered he didn't have another miracle of transportation but was almost swept away by the current.
