I need help finding a song for a slide-show for a baby dedication next week. Anybody have any ideas? this is for the baby girl of a family member. Secular music is ok. ( I used Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" (minus the last verse) for my daughter's dedication). All I can think of at this moment is "Beautiful" by Jim Brickman/Wayne Brady, but I would like to come up with a few more for her to pick from.

We had a thread about this a while ago. Do a search for "songs for baby dedications- any suggestions?" I'd link to it, but I'm not that talented.

anything but Butterfly Kisses. I passionately hate that song. every wedding and dedication at church uses that one.

:D That's the only one I can think of. There's another I know by Kenny Chesney, but I don't think it would be good for a dedication. It's called There Goes My Life.

This is a good one we had in our wedding. Seems like it could work for a baby dedication too.

To Make You Feel My Love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Make_You_Feel_My_Love)
by Bob Dylan and covered by many. We had the Garth Brooks arrangement sung accapella.

Lyrics:
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I would offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong

I'd go hungry, I'd go blind for you
I'd go crawling down the aisle for you
There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on a rolling sea
Down the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
But you ain't seen nothing like me yet

There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy, make your dreams come true
To make you feel my love

Does it have to have lyrics? I have a ton of great ideas for instrumentals.

Don't Blink....
Kenny Chesney

I turned on the evening news
Saw a old man being interviewed
Turning a hundred and two today
Asked him what's the secret to life
He looked up from his old pipe
Laughed and said "All I can say is."

Don't blink
Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you
Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don't blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half"
Of fifty years is there in bed
And you're praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don't blink

I was glued to my tv when it looked like he looked at me and said
"Best start putting first things first."
Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand
You can't flip it over and start again
Take every breathe God gives you for what it's worth

So I've been tryin' ta slow it down
I've been tryin' ta take it in
In this here today, gone tomorrow world we're livin' in

Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster then you think
So Don't blink

Naw, don't blink
Life Goes Faster Than You Think

Here's a good one...

Mark Harris - Find Your Wings
From the album The Line Between The Two

It's only for a moment you are mine to hold
The plans that heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold
So many different prayers I'll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I'll want to know
You're walking in the truth
And If I never told you
I want you to know
As I watch you grow

Chorus:
I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings

May passion be the wind
That leads you through your days
And may conviction keep you strong
Guide you on your way
May there be many moments
That make your life so sweet
Oh, but more than memories

Chorus:

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky
I'll have tears as you take off
But I'll cheer as you fly

Chorus:

At my son's dedication (15 years old) they sang "Jesus, Here's Another Child to Hold"

Let me see if I can find the words for you. They're especially perfect for my boys since they're adopted. Hang on..........

Here you go. It's by Ray Boltz

Another Child To Hold

Words and music by Ray Boltz and Steve Millikan

She looks down at her angel
Sleeping in his bed
She gently kneels beside him
And then she bows her head
And just like other mothers
Who lived so long ago
She brings her child to Jesus
And give him to the Lord

CHORUS:
Jesus, here's another child to hold
Keep this child safe and warm
This world can be so cold
Take this child in Your arms
And never let him go
Jesus, here's another child to hold

He watched his only daughter
Leaving on a date
He doesn't want to worry
But now it's getting late
Waiting in the darkness
He kneels down on the floor
And offers up a silent prayer
As he listens for the door

Wherever there are children, Lord
In danger or in need
May you find someone there
Praying on their knees
Oh, please

CHORUS

Let Them Be Little

I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand.
You felt so good in it; no bigger than a minute.
How it amazes me you're changin' with every blink.
Faster than a flower blooms, they grow up all too soon.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give 'em hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

I never felt so much in one little tender touch.
I live for those kisses, your prayers an' your wishes.
An' now you're teachin' me how only a child can see.
Tonight, while we're on our knees, all I ask is:

Please, let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

The so innocent, precious soul:
You turn around, an' it's time to let them go.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give 'em praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let them sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

Let them be little

The best song for a baby dedication is the one Mickey Mangun sang years ago "You've been chosen for the service of the King". I will try and type out the words below, I may get a few wrong.

Verse 1
You've been born into a family
Who proudly serves the king
From Generation to generation, we've served with loyalty
Now we offer you this heritage, so special and so rare
Handle it through all your days, and cherish it with care

Chores:
May your foot steps be certain
And your eyes always be clear
May your hands be ever willing, to do the Father's will
And always remember, more than anything
You've been chosen for the service of the King

Verse 2
They'll be times the enemy, will try and overcome
But you've been dedicated to serve the Holy One,
And no matter what may come your way, remember this one thing
No force can stand against you, when you represent the King

You could do Steven Curtis Chapman's Cinderella song. I love it.
