Hey Girls,

I have been asked to speak at a Women's Tea next month. I have never spoken to this group of ladies as a "group" before, and while I am pretty sure what message I will be bringing, I just wanted a little feedback.
Which things do you feel are important that don't get enough teaching? If you were in a "Ladies Only" setting, what would you want to learn more about, of what topics do you think the ladies tend to be lacking information in?
Keep in mind that I am a closet Liberal (well I guess I am out the closet, but not THAT way! I am happily married to a wonderful Man!), so I will not be teaching on dress standards....

Any ideas would be great!

Rest assured, any Ladies teas I've ever been to, have not included teaching on dress standards.

Personally, I think the topics of sister love, bearing one anothers burdens, and refraining from gossipping and backbiting against our sisters are always good topics. If you want something serious.

You could always go lighthearted, and fun.

These are good topics, and they have crossed my mind... Thanks!

BTW if any Men are peeking on this thread, what do you think are topics that should be broached?

I had a ladies meeting once on the "Bride of Christ" - - the hall was decorated like a wedding reception even with wedding cake! We all wore wedding veils - it was like playing dress up. I asked the speaker to talk about being prepared to be the Bride of Christ and relate it to our daily living.

Everyone brought a wedding photo of themselves and the single ladies brought a picture of their "dream wedding dress". Sharing those were fun.

The ladies all seemed to really have a good time.

What a great idea! I am actually toying with the idea of the "Kinsmen Redeemer" and this would go over fabulously!
What about divorced women, do you think people would be offended if I asked the pastor's wife to tell the ladies to bring wedding pictures?

Maybe the divorced women could bring a picture of their "dream hubby"????

Submission to thier husband is always a keeper, at least in the men's ranks!
Oh make that "Joyfully Submit!":whistle

In all seriousness, talking from a man's perspective, if my wife gets in my face and be argumentative, it is no big deal, but get her on her knees seeking God & I walk a lot more carefully.

The power of a submitted woman!:thumbsup

Just for the sake of argumentation, Ron :dance
What are the perameters of submission in your opinion? Always an interesting discussion :evilglee

Oh Renda, Oh Renda, Oh Renda........

You are the bomb. I have been looking for some way to bring about being the bride of Christ at a ladies meeting. You my dear friend, are a life saver. I am going home and start working on this idea. Oh man, my brain has just kicked into gear.

Cool! Glad you could use the idea.

I made all the veils really inexpensively!

It was really fun - as ladies we always love dressing up as a bride!

Did you just make the veils from stuff at AC moore or Micheal's?

Yes or even Walmart.

The netting stuff is cheap and I sewed it on plastic combs and covered with some lace.

How did this go from a thread about what to teach to an excuse to shop?

It is title "Hey Ladies!"

The official name of that netting is tulle - - I couldn't think of it.

I have decorated for more than my fair share of weddings in my day, but I have only made one veil, but I paid alot of money for the tiara it was attched to... ooooops, I guess I shouldn't mention the "jewelled" part... :ursofunny
But the comb is a good idea

Hey Sis Prov. If you go to Walmart now I dont know about where you live but here ALL of the walmarts for some reason (guessing because the wedding season is ending) has their tulle and all the accessories you would need to make the veils on sale.. its on a clearance ender by where they keep all that type of stuff. Tulle was 1.oo a roll...

But as all know here I am definitely a conservative and I would have to say whatever you do please stay away from the standards issue at something like this. It is a place where women go to have fun and a lot of times that just makes discussion a bit stressful unless your a church that discusses this on a regular basis. Not being rude just trying to give some pointers

Oh not taken as rude at all..... I wouldn't touch on that, it isn't my place, and that is not an issue at this church at all.
I really wanted to dig into the "meat" a little, but not overwhelm them with my vast ecclisiatical knowledge... :tease
