He is a wonderful, respected, man of God! He's never been in it for the money, fame or anything else. Would to God we had more men just like him! :D

I don't know if he is a prophet or not, but I do respect what he did for heroin addicts, and Teen Challenge.
I don't know a lot about him or his doctrine but I have read some of his books & respect what he said & did.
One book called "set the trumpet to thy mouth" was very surprising coming from him.
It was good.

He is truly a man of God. In an age where so many are using the pulpit as a means of fame and gain, that has never been his goal and if you know anything at all about him, you know that. He preaches the Word straight and he is a highly respected minister of the gospel. He has been extremely effective in helping to change the lives of addicts, not only in New York City, but literally the world over. I believe we could certainly use more like David Wilkerson in 2008 America.

You will know them by their fruits. Dave Wilkerson has FAR more then most of us here. Not that some of US don't, but just our missionary members, he is/was on the front line -away from the cushy couch and fine dining.

I heard him preach once in Brazil and thousands of young people were at the make shift alters crying.
I have several of his books...blow the trumphet in Zion...Sipping saints and reasons why I don´t have a television...I also have the cross and the switchblade...maybe a few more that´s all I can think of at the moment.
I would say he has lots of insight on many things.
Up to this moment I respect him and his ministry...I have never heard anything proved true negative about him or his ministry. He is well liked among many Assembly of God preachers here.
Is he Assembly of God?

I think he is still AG. However, they have lost many of thier preachers who have gone independant. So I do not know if he is still AG.
The current mess in the American Economy is caused by two things: housing, and price of oil.
I found this quote in a book of his I bought years ago. It was Americas Last Call written in 1996. I believe DW is writing about the current housing fiasco.
Here is what Wilkerson wrote:
“All the multiplied thousands who’ve had not time for God---who’ve laughed at moral standards and made wealth their idol, who’ve leveraged their homes to raise more money to gamble with stocks—are going to lose their savings, their homes, their fine cars and furniture. Many will try to declare bankruptcy. Indeed, this is happening already, even in these so-called good times, before the real panic comes. Last year alone, 1.3 million individual Americans declared bankruptcy. And soon there will be such a glut of people filing for bankruptcy, the federal government will have to pass legislation to stop the financial hemorrhaging.
I believe that in the not-too-distant future, almost every block on America’s streets will be lined with “For Sale” signs in front of homes. There will be sellers only, and very few buyers. The housing market will collapse --- and we could witness in our nation what happened to Japan, Indonesia and other nations of the Pacific Rim. There may be a 70 to 80 percent devaluation in real estate --- and a rush to liquidate everything to raise cash. Just as happened in Indonesia, we’ll see used $100,000 Mercedes Benz cars selling for less than $20,000. Banks and mortgage companies will be stuck with billions of dollars’ worth of property they can’t unload. As Jeremiah prophesies, “Their houses shall be turned unto others….” (6:12).”
No one--in 96--was predicting HPA to devalue. Never since the great depression have home prices declined. The first week of July mortgage applications were at a 7 year low. In the last 6-9 months we barely escaped a full collasp of the banking system, the FDIC predicts 200-250 banks will fail in the next year, JP Morgan CEO said, "prime (mortgages) are terrible...and we are at the beginning of our loss curve...", credit had never been so tight.
Wilkerson was right on.....

My opinion exactly, love his humble approach, and confidence that if God wants what they are doing to succeed, He will provide the resources. And God has not failed in many many years. David has suffered greatly, but He has continued to trust the Lord and do a great work in the kingdom.
I read "The Cross and the Switchblade" many years ago.
I've also read a couple more of his older books but nothing new for the past few years.
I've seen the movie "Cross and the Switchblade" with Pat Boone playing Wilkerson, not too good.
David Wilkerson has my deepest respect as a man of God. Several years ago I went to a local Assembly of God church to hear him speak. I was disappointed and dismayed. I expected him to be an orator or a preaching machine. I thought surely someone that is used of God the way he has been would be a polished, smooth preacher. He wasn't. It wasn't until later that I realized that his power and anointing is not in a smooth speaking approach but in results with many, many lives transformed by God's power.
I remember reading about him and others preaching on the streets. Some times the altar call would take 45 minutes as folks would slowly come down fire escapes from roof tops. They would kneel on the street, submit to Jesus, and be completely changed. (I know this doesn't fit OP theology but what else could you call them but new creatures and born again?)
I receive his sermon letters and he does indeed seem to be a prophet to me.

The Cross And Switchblade had a great influence on my teenage years. Reading of his street ministry among the gangs in New York was really exciting to a young 13 year old who was attending a dead Church of Christ. Nothing happened there except religous works it seemed.
So his story helped me hope there might be more to "Church" than what I knew. Even tho I never commited to Christ for 7 years after reading it I never forgot it. Then the first few years as a believer I read whatever he put out and went to see him twice.
I still respect his faith and holiness message but am sad he has never moved much from the Assembly of God doctrine.

Dave Wilkerson is a very humble minister who seems to be a man of great integrity. I highly respect him and what he's done for the Kingdom.
