I had a 1976 Trans Am with a 455 engine and four on the floor. I loved that car but sold it when I went to college. It had the bird on the hood and everything. It had tons of low end torque.

My buddy had a Trans Am too and we would burn so much rubber at intersections that we could barely see the red lights at times. HA HA. That was the good old days. :evilglee

Thats a pretty common conversion. a buddy used to have one of those Chevy/Jags

A few years ago I had a 52 Ford Short box. With Polished sloted wheels, a 350 Chevy under the hood linked to Chevy drive train. Painted a light shade of Maroon with black vinyl buckets out of a Pontiac.

To light in the back, it would smoke the tires up for eternity if you stepped into it.

To many toys and to little storage, I had to sell it.

I use to have the coolest job....right of high school I got the job of track announcer at our local drag strip, Cordova,Il Home of the world series of drag racing.

Always liked hot cars....still do ;-)

My first car was a 1962 VW Bug. Guess that doesn't count as a hot rod, huh? :heeheehee

My dad is restoring a 1960 Hawk, and has two 1979 Dodge Magnums, one in show condition, the other is being restored. My sister has a 1970 Road Runner (383) in immaculate condition, and her husband has a 1969 Road Runner (440) that's neon green and black. It's seen many 1/4 mile races, but is in mint condition as well. :winkgrin

I bet it skips when you go over a bump!

That is really cool. I hope your dad doesn't sell the car because it sounds like it is an integral part of a lot of family memories.

I don't remember it skipping much, but it took a large bump to bounce that car. It was a tank.

Your family will always regret it if your dad sells that car.
