I disagree.

I am inclined to agree with you. If they want to kill each other, have at it. Thats less future enemies the United States will have to deal with.....It will keep Russia to busy to cause any grief globally. lol..........

Well, I believe that they are, however that's not my argument here. Regardless of whether they are or not, this could get very ugly and involve the United States big time. This is a very dangerous situation.

P.S. I wasn't standing! :crazy

Who cares whether Russia is the bear or not? This situation could get serious and involve more than just Russia and Georgia.

TBILISI, Georgia - Russia sent hundreds of tanks and troops into the separatist province of South Ossetia and bombed Georgian towns Saturday in a major escalation of the conflict that has left scores of civilians dead and wounded.

It gets worse

Georgia called a cease-fire and said its troops were retreating Sunday from the disputed province of South Ossetia in the face of Russia's far superior firepower, but Russia said the soldiers were "not withdrawing but regrouping" and refused to recognize a truce.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said one of the Russian raids on the airport came a half hour before the arrival of the foreign ministers of France (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,401043,00.html#) and Finland — in the country to try to mediate.

I think you don't understand what's going down. Bush and Putin were in China together when the invasion shifted into full swing and spoke but the details of the conversation are unknown. This is VERY symbolic and I assure you that it doesn't look good for the Georgians. Here's what will happen. The Russians will invade and massacre the Georgians. They will either annex the republic into the Russian Federation or institute a puppet government under Moscow's control. In the mean time President Bush will issue verbal denunciations of Russia's actions and send diplomatic envoys. It will be argued that the UN isn't the forum to address this because Russia is a member of the Security Council and will just veto any UN resolution. Ossetia will fall under Russian control. There will be a manufactured "cease fire" and it will be made to look like Georgia and Russia find a tentative peace while Russia waves flags celebrating how they "liberated" the Ossetian people from the Georgians. BUT....only AFTER the Russians have assured that they are in full control of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. Russia's concern over their "peace keepers" in Ossetia and the Ossetian people has nothing to do with this.

Now...does this have anything to do with prophecy? Not sure here. But I know this...after all is said and done, if their plan goes the way they want it to, Russia will have significant control over Europe's energy resources.

I could be wrong....but I don't think it will involve the United States in any big way.

Remember when the Bush Administration began arguing that there were WMD's in Iraq and that we had to invade them preemptively? Russia strongly denounced the idea and sided with the UN weapons inspectors who stated that the information wasn't entirely true. Putin saber rattled for a little bit.... and then became eerily quiet after the Bush Administration spoke with him.

I predict that we're not going to significantly interfere with this.
