HOUSTON — The wife of megachurch pastor Joel Osteen did not assault a flight attendant in an angry tirade over a stain on her first-class seat, a civil jury unanimously ruled Thursday.
The jurors rejected the claims in a lawsuit filed by Continental Airlines flight attendant Sharon Brown, who had been seeking at least $405,000 for actual damages — physical and mental pain as a result of an attack she alleged took place before the start of a December 2005 flight from Houston to Vail, Colo.

Brown claimed Victoria Osteen got so upset when a spill on her first-class seat's armrest was not quickly cleaned up that she threw the flight attendant against a bathroom door and elbowed her in the left breast while attempting to rush the cockpit.
Victoria Osteen, the co-pastor of Houston's popular Lakewood Church, testified no such incident took place, as did her husband and other first-class passengers. Victoria Osteen's lawyer dismissed Brown's lawsuit as a made-up story concocted to land a courtroom payday.
Lakewood Church draws about 42,000 people each week for services. Joel Osteen's weekly television address is broadcast in the U.S. and internationally and his books are sold around the globe.
In his closing argument, Rusty Hardin, Victoria Osteen's attorney, described the incident as a verbal dispute, and labeled Brown's claims that she suffered injuries such as post-traumatic stress disorder a "sacrilege" and a "blasphemy."
Hardin questioned Brown's motives for filing the lawsuit, telling jurors if an assault had taken place and the flight attendant had truly wanted Victoria Osteen to be held accountable, she would have sought criminal charges.
"If your motives are pure, that's where you go first," he said. "If you want to hold her responsible and not look to line your pockets and hit the lottery then you go to law enforcement. She didn't do that."
In his closing argument, Reginald McKamie, Brown's attorney, told jurors that because of her status as a religious leader, Victoria Osteen felt she had "favor from God." That led her to believe she was above reproach for humiliating and assaulting his client, he said.
"Sharon Brown, when Victoria assaulted her, was humiliated and she lost her trust in her faith providers," said McKamie.

It's usually best to go fishing in the rivers, streams and other waters. Going to court trying to "fish" for half a million dollars is often a waste of taxpayers' money. I'm glad the jury was NOT bowled over by the hype.

I would not want this Sharon Brown serving me anything if I was on the same flight with her. I would kindly ask her to get away from me. She is too risky to be around. My guess is that either the airlines will deal with this lady, or she'll hang herself on another incident. I'm not going to make any calls.
Did anyone get Victoria's reaction after the trial? Or what she had to say about this lady?
My guess is that she would push to forgive the lady.

What a blessing to believe one is in God's favor! Today, I had something overwhelming happen to me fraudulently.... Praise the Lord I got it resolved with one phone call... I was not upset... I knew I had done nothing wrong...I told the Lord I was believing for his favor.... Someone purchased $400 in merchandise from me.... I shipped it and the customer reversed payment... I have proof and it was insured and Paypal has a free $2000.00 protection plan for my biz. Yes, I will have this returned to my account within one week.

I really hate it that this has been turned into a black/white issue versus a stupid/stupider issue. Victoria Osteen obviously didn't use a lot of of wisdom in how she handled the situation, and Sharon Brown was obviously trying to get an un-earned payday out of an ordinary real-life negative interaction.
The only reason Osteen got thrown off/chose to leave the airplane was because of the VERY stringent rules that have come into play since 9/11. I was on a flight a year or so ago where the flight attendant was asking the people behind me to put their toddler in their lap because they didn't have a ticket for her, and the seat she was sitting in was sold. They started arguing with the flight attendant about it, nothing physical, and within 2 minutes the captain of the plane was standing there telling the people that they either shut up and complied or they would be removed from the plane. They shut up.
If this interaction between Osteen and Brown had happened in a restaurant, we would have never heard about it. She handled the situation without wisdom or a great show of Christianity but the only reason it made the news is because they left the aircraft, and the only reason Brown filed suit is because it made the news.

Little miss Prima-donna should just have cleaned up the mess herself and not even bothered the Flight Attendant...all without any fanfare. If one claims to be a christian, she should act like a christian and let her light shine instead of letting the devil get into it.
