The Art of the Heart

Encouragement is one of God's most joyous art forms. He supplies us with the raw materials and invites us to create, build and shape his hope in the lives of those around us.
Some people combine a helping hand with a word of praise and produce a grateful heart.
Others, by mixing laughter and love are able to paint new sparkle in dulling eyes.
Belief and support build self-esteem.
Persistent prayer composes a song of hope.
Tenderness and a warm embrace fashion a friend.
However we combine the elements of encouragement, one thing we're sure to create is JOY - for others, for oursleves, and for the Lord.

As I have watched my daughter go through a very hard trial , I have realized more than ever the need for encouragement.

Just to say to someone...I am praying for you, I love and appreciate you, means so much.

We never know what someone is facing in their life, Some people , keep it all to theirselves. I try to never show when I am hurt, discouraged, or disillusioned. So I know there are others that do the same. I am making it a habit to encourage my brothers and sisters.

Jillian,

Thank-you for your input, and you are so right. We have been conditioned to say we are "Fine" and being sensitive to those around you hurting is what we are called to do.

For all those hurting today...just know that God sees you - right where you are and gently tells you to: Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you!

My prayer for you is to be blessed.

Amen, Sis. Rhoni,

I was taught all my life growing up, to look to Jesus and that He could

and would be there for me in any situation. Many years ago I went through

a trial. In the confusion that tried to cloud my mind, the scriptures that the

Holy Ghost led me to became like an anchor. "Yea, all that will live godly in

Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax

worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived."

This part really spoke to my heart as if the Holy Ghost was saying in

essence. "This is my instruction to you, my child, This is what I want you

to do. "But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned AND hast

been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from

a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee

wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is

given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for

correction, for instruction in righteousness: (why) That the man of God may

be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works". I held on to those

verses and can quote them word by word to this day!! The Word of God is

profitable for whatever it is we need!! Trust in His Word. It is sure!

Good morning saints. Have you ever asked God to do something for you, but was uncertain if and when He would do it? You went to Him with a sincere and humble heart. You presented your request to Him with confidence but the enemy began to attack you with fear and doubt. How did you feel when the Lord answered your prayer? Were you overtaken with joy or did you feel He owed it to you? Have you ever prayed for something and it seemed as though God would never respond? You approached the throne of God with boldness, gave your request and walked away giving Him thanks. As time has gone on it appears as if God has forgotten about you. For some reason you believe the Lord has forgotten or not heard you completely. Have you ever experienced a time when it felt as if God was silent?
When you pray, do you request things that will ultimately give God glory? Do you pray for selfish things or opportunities to bless the body of Christ? Are your prayers self-centered or God-centered? I come not to question your prayer life but your motives. Remember, whatever you ask for, God knows what lies in your heart. While man can only see the outward appearance, God can see within (1 Samuel 16:7). My friend, It Is In God's Timing! The answer to your prayer
request is in God's timing. The Lord knows if and when you are ready to receive the manifestation. The Bible declares in Ecclesiastes 3:1 - To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: There is an exact time for every blessing in our lives. Along with the exact time, there is an exact purpose associated with the blessing. It Is In God's Timing! Believe not the enemy. He's a liar!
My brother, my sister, what have you asked from the Lord? Are you in a holding pattern? Are you questioning the Lord? Has the enemy thrown negative and doubtful thoughts at you? It Is In God's Timing! The Bible declares in Genesis 18:14 - Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, ... Beloved, the Lord knows when, where and how to bless you. He knows what you can handle, when you can handle it. Just because the answer has not come [yet] does not mean the Lord has forgotten about you. Do you not know the Lord still deserves the praise? It Is In God's Timing! God's time and man's time are different (Isaiah 55:8). Man expects things to happen their way, right away. Not with the Lord. He responds in His time and His way. The Bible declares in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Prayer for Today: Father, thank you for knowing what's best for mus. Our requests have been heard by you. It is in your timing and we trust in you. In Jesus' name ... Amen!

The armor of God
by Jon Walker
“Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared. In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:14-17 NLT)
Ministry/Service — As you engage in ministry for God, you will be attacked by God’s enemy, Satan. God knows this, and so he has provided you with the tools you need to stand your ground in ministry.
Father, today, in Jesus’ name, I put on the girdle of truth. I thank you, for I know who I am and that I have the power of the Holy Spirit within me. God is in control of my life.
Thank you that I can put on the breastplate of righteousness. In all situations, help me to respond from the truth and not from my emotions. I can refuse to receive lies from the enemy.
Today I strap on the sandals of the gospel of peace. Wherever I go, I can be a peacemaker, helping others make peace with you. Help me to remember that there’s a difference between a peacekeeper and a peacemaker – and that mercy triumphs over judgment.
You, my shield of faith, are sufficient to protect me from any arrows and slings the enemy throws my way, and I recognize that my faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
Thank you that you are giving me the mind of Christ. Because I wear the helmet of salvation, I can receive the truth, and I don’t have to think in old, fleshly patterns. My mind is being renewed by the power of God. I can take thoughts captive for Christ.
The sword of the Spirit is your Word, the Bible. With guidance from the Holy Spirit, I can use your Word to deflect any slings and arrows from the enemy, knowing I do not battle flesh and blood but that the fight is against the father of all lies. Help me also use your Word to spread your Gospel across the world.
Lord, I set my mind and heart on you today. I dedicate this whole day to you. I only want your will for my life. Through the name and blood of Jesus, I ask you to bind the enemy in my home, at my children’s school, and at my job.
So what?
· God already has provided all the armor you need to face today’s battles.
· When you feel a battle brewing, whether it be a temptation or a conflict, remind yourself again of the armor God has given you.
· When you sense conflict, discouragement, or anxiety this week, thank God that he is your shield and deliverer.

In our lives, there are times when we desire to be left alone. No disrespect to anyone else, but sometimes you want to have some "alone" time. Time where you can rest and be restored. Time that you desire to spend uninterrupted with the Lord. Have you ever found yourself overwhelmed with the responsibilities of life? From the time you awake, until the time you sleep, you are on your feet attempting to keep things under control. It seems as though everything and everyone depends on you for guidance. Pressure on every side. You feel stressed and strained. Have you ever tried to vacate the premises but someone found you? You tried to take a vacation but the cellular phone continued to ring. You turn off the phone but the blackberry begins to vibrate. Where do you go for refuge? Have you been there? Are you there now?
This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you. Somewhere along the way we have lost control of our lives. Our circumstances have begun to dictate our behavior and moods. You have become consumed by the opinions of your peers. Your priorities have begun to fall apart. Throughout the week, you look forward to Friday but during the weekend you dread Sunday evenings. Your job has become your god. Your business deals have become more important than your family. Where have you gone wrong? My friend, Keep Things In Perspective! The Bible declares in Exodus 34:14 - For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: While God has blessed you with abundance, He does not want you to glorify the blessings but the Blesser (which is Him.) When your eyes open to a brand new day, what are you usually thinking about first? Throughout your day, what keeps you excited? Who do you live your life to please? During your day, when do you focus on the Lord?
My brother, my sister, Keep Things In Perspective! Do not allow life to control what you do and how you do it. God should always remain your primary contact. The Bible declares in Revelation 2:4 - Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Beloved, resting is not a sin, laziness is. Spending time with your family is needed. The church will go on without you. A mental rest day is necessary from time to time. The job can survive one day without you. Stop thinking the show cannot go on without you. God has called you to live for Him. The same joy and love you have for co-workers, should be the same joy and love you have at home. Keep Things In Perspective! God did not create you to be Him. He is God not you. Re-focus yourself today. Spend time with the ones you love. Do not wait until tragedy hits.
Prayer for Today: Father, show me where I have lost focus. You are God not me. Allow me to do the best I can and leave the rest to you. Help me keep things in perspective. In Jesus' name ... Amen!

Good Morning,
How are you doing this morning? It's a wonderful day to be a child of God. Have you ever watched a family member die in your presence and the family argued the entire time? You watched their body go through changes that you could not change. Have you ever experienced hell on earth? It seemed as though everything was on a downward spiral. Have you ever been falsely accused by another Believer. They took your service and placed it on trial through lies and deceit. Do you ever wonder why people enjoy causing chaos and confusion? No matter what goes on that person always finds something to complain about. Can you relate to any of these questions? Does this sound like anyone you know? Does this sound like you?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you. My friend, Whatever Happened To Unity? Whatever happened to One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism? We are surrounded [today] by a family of Believers who desire to compete and compare with others. No longer willing to share with the less fortunate. No longer willing to fellowship with other races. Close-minded! The Bible declares in Psalms 133:1 - Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! How can we sing about heaven, which is full of God's glory and love, but not get along with each other ... God's creation. The Bible declares in 1 John 4:20 - If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? Whatever Happened To Unity?

My brother, my sister, we are one body serving One Lord. Many
debate whether Christ was black or white. We attempt to use
scripture to defend our answers. That matters not. What matters is that His blood was red. It was His blood, not His skin, that covered my sins. Whatever Happened To Unity? The Bible declares in 1 John 2:11 - But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. It's a new day. We must begin to change our mindset. We must evaluate ourselves. What can you do to make things better for others? Who can you assist? Does your job lack unity? Does your home and marriage lack unity. Does your church lack unity? The Bible declares in Matthew 18:19 - Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Thought to Remember: Where there is no
unity, there is division.

Good Morning,
On this day, April 11, this email comes to minister to you. Happy Wednesday! How are you doing this morning? It's a wonderful day to be a child of God. Do you realize how blessed you are?
In spite of the troubles, heartaches and pains, the Lord has always
been there to watch over us. Do you know that the Lord is so good? I mean so good. Even when you were deep in sin, His goodness allowed Him to surround us with unconditional love. When the enemy tried to prove our guilt, it was the Lord who pleaded our case. Have you noticed how far the Lord has brought you? Just think about the things you were doing before you committed yourself to His will. Think about the places you visited regularly, or the people you hung around. God is so good to us. Knowing how ungrateful we can be at times, He still continuously blesses us. Do you appreciate the Lord this morning? Are you glad that there is life still in your body? Are you allowing anger and bitterness to suck the life out of your days?
This morning, I am commissioned to come and minister to you. My
friend, You Don't Know My Story, What You See Is God's Glory! So
often in our lives, we meet people who applaud us for where we are in our lives. Every time you see them, (s)he always wants you to sing a song, tell a joke, pray a prayer, preach a sermon, or share your testimony. While that is fine, many people were not around when you were going through your breakdowns and let-downs. What they see today is the glory of God upon you. Many people do not know the price you have paid for the anointing you display. They do not understand how/why you shout and praise God all the time. The
Bible declares in Psalms 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. You Don't Know My Story, What You See Is God's Glory! You must beware of people who try to come in your life after you have endured testing and trying. You must be careful with who you allow to speak into your ear. It was the Lord who brought you through the 'hell' in your life.

My brother, my sister, its not that you are arrogant or acting
holier than someone else. Its not that you think others are beneath
you. But you have been through enough in your life to declare that
you are not going back there anymore. The Bible declares in Psalms
40:2 - He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry
clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. The
passion people see in your eyes is the glory of God. The love you
display to everyone is the glory of God. The favor you enjoy in your life is the glory of God. You Don't Know My Story, What You See Is God's Glory! Stop apologizing because God is using you. There was a refining process God took you through. Stop allowing people to discourage what the Lord has spoken in your life.
What man does not understand, man questions and judges. Beloved, God brought you so that He could use you for this time. Do not go back in what the Lord took you out of. Live free in the Lord. There's a story to compliment God's glory.
Prayer for Today: Father, I want to thank you for everything you
brought me out of. I have a story behind the glory. I honor you
today. In Jesus' name ... Amen!

It's a wonderful day to be a child of God. Life is so amazing. You work so hard to achieve so many wonderful things, only to get them and realize its not what you thought it was. You work night and day to obtain the applauds of man, but along the way you compromised your relationship with the Lord.
Have you ever found yourself doing what you said you would never do? Have you ever found yourself saying what you thought you would never say? Have you ever found yourself acting in a way that is outside of your character? So often we do what we normally would not, we say what we usually would not, and we act in ways that are uncommon because we desire to please everyone we meet. We often say, "If they accept me, I will feel better." This is an untruthful statement. No matter how hard you work, there will always be someone who disapproves. Think about it ...

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you. When was the last time you attempted to adapt to the ways of your friends? When was the last time you did what you knew was unpleasing to the Lord? Why did you do it? After you did what you did, how did you feel? There comes a time, in each of our lives, when we must choose who we will serve. A person who confesses Christ, but lives for friends is a hypocrite (Matthew 6:24).
My friend, It Does Not Work That Way! God will never allow you to
abuse His blessings because you want to impress others. The Bible
declares in Exodus 32:26 - ... Who is on the Lord's side? let him come unto me ... How often do you say, "if you get me out of this, I will never do it again?" How often do you do it again? Do you realize how much the Lord really loves you? He knows before you say it, that you will do it again. In spite of it, He still loves you. How many people do you know like this?

My brother, my sister, the world we live in is fickle. People love you because of what they believe you can do for them. If you have nothing to offer, people do not want you near them. But God!
When the Lord chose you, He knew you had limitations. Why is it that we call on the Lord only in trouble, when He wants to be there always? It Does Not Work That Way! God desires daily fellowship with you. The Bible declares in Proverbs 8:17 - I love them that love me; and those that seek Me early shall find Me. Beloved, are you trying to live without God's guidance and protection? Do you think you can handle it alone? Are you deceiving yourself? It Does Not Work That Way! Child of God, the answer you need is found in the Lord. The guidance you seek comes through the Lord. The void
in your life can be filled by the Lord.
Prayer for Today: Father, I realize confessing you but living for others does not work. You have been faithful from day one. I belong to you.
Thank you for all you do. In Jesus' name ... Amen!

It's a wonderful day to be a child of God. Have you ever had someone offend you? Either their words or their actions really hurt your feelings. With no regret or guilt, this individual hurt your feelings and walked off as if nothing wrong occurred. Have you ever offended someone?
Without thinking twice, you said the first thing that came into your
mind. After saying it, you knew it was wrong but you refused to
apologize. When was the last time you accepted someone's plea for
forgiveness? The individual who hurt you has not asked for your
forgiveness and hand of mercy. Have you forgiven them? Are you still harboring animosity toward someone or about something? Do you not know that uncontrolled anger will lead you to sin? The Word of God says, "Father forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors." (Matthew 6:12)

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you. Are you aware that the forgiveness you seek from the Father comes> after you have forgiven the one who asked your forgiveness? Many times we think by smiling and acting as though everything is okay it pleases the Lord. Forgiveness is an action not a hidden secret. It requires you to step out of your flesh and self. My friend, Who Needs A Second Chance? Who are you angry with? Has your behavior changed because you have housed this bitterness? The enemy desires to shackle you down through your pride. The Bible declares in Matthew 6:14 - For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: Each person, at one point in their life, stands in need of God's merciful forgiveness. Each day we come up short in one way or another (Romans 3:23). The thing we said we would never do, we find ourselves doing it again (Romans 7). But each time, God is willing to forgive us our sins. Who Needs A Second Chance?

My brother, my sister, you will never experience true peace until
you release the anger you have on the inside. Put yourself in the
position of a person needing someone else's forgiveness. Would you
expect them to forgive you? Would you understand if they did not?
The Bible declares in Mark 11:26 - But if ye do not forgive, neither
will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Beloved, Who Needs A Second Chance?
What if the Lord treated us the way we treat others when they seek
forgiveness? What if God turned His back on us the way we turn our
backs on others? The Bible declares in Matthew 5:23-24 - Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy
brother hath ought against thee; 24 Leave there thy gift before the
altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then
come and offer thy gift. Child of God, Who Needs A Second Chance?
Since the Lord has given you a second chance, do you owe someone else a second chance?
Prayer for Today: Father, forgive me for not forgiving my brother or sister. When I was in need of forgiveness, you forgave. Today, I will forgive those who asked for my forgiveness. In Jesus' name ... Amen!

Sis. Falla,

This article was timely for me...I have much anger in my heart toward many things/people. YOu can say that you have let it go but when it affects your family, your job, and your friends...then it is obvious that the problem is still there.

The thing that has come to my mind lately is the story of Jonah. God gave Jonah an assignment...and Jonah rebelled in his mind and heart saying the people of Nineveh were not worthy of Grace, mercy, and forgiveness...he wanted them to be destroyed. I know how he felt.

While Jonah was running from God's call on his life...there was chaos that broke out all around him. Even the people around him knew that God was not pleased with something...they just couldn't put their finger on it...but Jonah knew. As I know.

When Jonah confessed that he was the problem...he instructed the men in the boat to throw him over and calm would return. They did, and peace was restored to them, but Jonah was swallowed by the whale...who'd have thunk it?:grampa He cried, prayed, repented, and gave that whale/large fish a tummy ache. In God's time, the fish threw Jonah up on the shore of where he was meant to be all along.

God saved the people who Jonah preached to, and He saved Jonah from himself. Jonah had a change of heart and knew that you can't run from God...he'll find you and place you right back where you were meant to be all along.

The moral of the story: :friend We know don't we?

THE AUTHOR’S WAY OF SENDING FORTH HIS SECOND PART OF THE PILGRIM.
Go, now, my little Book, to every place
Where my first Pilgrim has but shown his face:
Call at their door: if any say, Who’s there?
Then answer thou, Christiana is here.
If they bid thee come in, then enter thou,
With all thy boys; and then, as thou know’st how,
Tell who they are, also from whence they came;
Perhaps they’ll know them by their looks, or name:
But if they should not, ask them yet again,
If formerly they did not entertain
One Christian, a Pilgrim? If they say
They did, and were delighted in his way;
Then let them know that these related were
Unto him; yea, his wife and children are.
Tell them, that they have left their house and home;
Are turned Pilgrims; seek a world to come;
That they have met with hardships in the way;
That they do meet with troubles night and day;
That they have trod on serpents; fought with devils;
Have also overcome a many evils;
Yea, tell them also of the next who have,
Of love to pilgrimage, been stout and brave
Defenders of that way; and how they still
Refuse this world to do their Father’s will.
Go tell them also of those dainty things
That pilgrimage unto the Pilgrim brings.
Let them acquainted be, too, how they are
Beloved of their King, under his care;
What goodly mansions he for them provides;
Though they meet with rough winds and swelling tides,
How brave a calm they will enjoy at last,
Who to their Lord, and by his ways hold fast.
Perhaps with heart and hand they will embrace
Thee, as they did my firstling; and will grace
Thee and thy fellows with such cheer and fare,
As show well, they of Pilgrims lovers are.
OBJECTION I.

But how if they will not believe of me
That I am truly thine? ‘cause some there be
That counterfeit the Pilgrim and his name,
Seek, by disguise, to seem the very same;
And by that means have wrought themselves into
The hands and houses of I know not who.
ANSWER.

‘Tis true, some have, of late, to counterfeit
My Pilgrim, to their own my title set;
Yea, others half my name, and title too,
Have stitched to their books, to make them do.
But yet they, by their features, do declare
Themselves not mine to be, whose’er they are.
If such thou meet’st with, then thine only way
Before them all, is, to say out thy say
In thine own native language, which no man
Now useth, nor with ease dissemble can.
If, after all, they still of you shall doubt,
Thinking that you, like gypsies, go about,
In naughty wise the country to defile;
Or that you seek good people to beguile
With things unwarrantable; send for me,
And I will testify you pilgrims be;
Yea, I will testify that only you
My Pilgrims are, and that alone will do.
OBJECTION II.

But yet, perhaps, I may enquire for him
Of those who wish him damned life and limb.
What shall I do, when I at such a door
For Pilgrims ask, and they shall rage the more?
ANSWER.

Fright not thyself, my Book, for such bugbears
Are nothing else but groundless fears.
My Pilgrim’s book has traveled sea and land,
Yet could I never come to understand
That it was slighted or turned out of door
By any Kingdom, were they rich or poor.
In France and Flanders, where men kill each other,
My Pilgrim is esteemed a friend, a brother.
In Holland, too, ‘tis said, as I am told,
My Pilgrim is with some, worth more than gold.
Highlanders and wild Irish can agree
My Pilgrim should familiar with them be.
‘Tis in New England under such advance,
Receives there so much loving countenance,
As to be trimm’d, newcloth’d, and deck’d with gems,
That it might show its features, and its limbs.
Yet more: so comely doth my Pilgrim walk,
That of him thousands daily sing and talk.
If you draw nearer home, it will appear
My Pilgrim knows no ground of shame or fear:
City and country will him entertain,
With Welcome, Pilgrim; yea, they can’t refrain
From smiling, if my Pilgrim be but by,
Or shows his head in any company.
Brave gallants do my Pilgrim hug and love,
Esteem it much, yea, value it above
Things of greater bulk; yea, with delight
Say, my lark’s leg is better than a kite.
Young ladies, and young gentlewomen too,
Do not small kindness to my Pilgrim show;
Their cabinets, their bosoms, and their hearts,
My Pilgrim has; ‘cause he to them imparts
His pretty riddles in such wholsome strains,
As yield them profit double to thetr pains
Of reading; yea, I think I may be bold
To say some prize him far above their gold.
The very children that do walk the street,
If they do but my holy Pilgrim meet,
Salute him will; will wish him well, and say,
He is the only stripling of the day.
They that have never seen him, yet admire
What they have heard of him, and much desire
To have his company, and hear him tell
Those Pilgrim stories which he knows so well.
Yea, some that did not love him at first,
But call’d him fool and noddy, say they must,
Now they have seen and heard him, him commend
And to those whom they love they do him send.
Wherefore, my Second Part, thou need’st not be
Afraid to show thy head: none can hurt thee,
That wish but well to him that went before;
‘Cause thou com’st after with a second store
Of things as good, as rich, as profitable,
For young, for old, for stagg’ring, and for stable.
OBJECTION III.

But some there be that say, He laughs too loud
And some do say, His Head is in a cloud.
Some say, His words and stories are so dark,
They know not how, by them, to find his mark.
ANSWER.

One may, I think, say, Both his laughs and cries
May well be guess’d at by his wat’ry eyes.
Some things are of that nature, as to make
One’s fancy chuckle, while his heart doth ache:
When Jacob saw his Rachel with the sheep,
He did at the same time both kiss and weep.
Whereas some say, A cloud is in his head;
That doth but show his wisdom’s covered
With its own mantles-and to stir the mind
To search well after what it fain would find,
Things that seem to be hid in words obscure
Do but the godly mind the more allure
To study what those sayings should contain,
That speak to us in such a cloudy strain.
I also know a dark similitude
Will on the curious fancy more intrude,
And will stick faster in the heart and head,
Than things from similes not borrowed.
Wherefore, my Book, let no discouragement
Hinder thy travels. Behold, thou art sent
To friends, not foes; to friends that will give place
To thee, thy pilgrims, and thy words embrace.
Besides, what my first Pilgrim left conceal’d,
Thou, my brave second Pilgrim, hast reveal’d;
What Christian left lock’d up, and went his way,
Sweet Christiana opens with her key.

OBJECTION IV.

But some love not the method of your first:
Romance they count it; throw’t away as dust.
If I should meet with such, what should I say?
Must I slight them as they slight me, or nay?
ANSWER.

My Christiana, if with such thou meet,
By all means, in all loving wise them greet;
Render them not reviling for revile,
But, if they frown, I prithee on them smile:
Perhaps ‘tis nature, or some ill report,
Has made them thus despise, or thus retort.
Some love no fish, some love no cheese, and some
Love not their friends, nor their own house or home;
Some start at pig, slight chicken, love not fowl
More than they love a cuckoo or an owl.
Leave such, my Christiana, to their choice,
And seek those who to find thee will rejoice;
By no means strive, but, in most humble wise,
Present thee to them in thy Pilgrim’s guise.
Go then, my little Book, and show to all
That entertain and bid thee welcome shall,
What thou shalt keep close shut up from the rest;
And wish what thou shalt show them may be bless’d
To them for good, and make them choose to be
Pilgrims, by better far than thee or me.
Go, then, I say, tell all men who thou art:
Say, I am Christiana; and my part
Is now, with my four sons, to tell you what
It is for men to take a Pilgrim’s lot.
Go, also, tell them who and what they be
That now do go on pilgrimage with thee;
Say, Here’s my neighbor Mercy: she is one
That has long time with me a pilgrim gone:
Come, see her in her virgin face, and learn
‘Twixt idle ones and pilgrims to discern.
Yea, let young damsels learn of her to prize
The world which is to come, in any wise.
When little tripping maidens follow God,
And leave old doting sinners to his rod,
‘Tis like those days wherein the young ones cried
Hosanna! when the old ones did deride.
Next tell them of old Honest, whom you found
With his white hairs treading the Pilgrim’s ground;
Yea, tell them how plain-hearted this man was;
How after his good Lord he bare the cross.
Perhaps with some gray head, this may prevail
With Christ to fall in love, and sin bewail.
Tell them also, how Master Fearing went
On pilgrimage, and how the time he spent
In solitariness, with fears and cries;
And how, at last, he won the joyful prize.
He was a good man, though much down in spirit;
He is a good man, and doth life inherit.
Tell them of Master Feeble-mind also,
Who not before, but still behind would go.
Show them also, how he had like been slain,
And how one Great-Heart did his life regain.
This man was true of heart; though weak in grace,
One might true godliness read in his face.
Then tell them of Master Ready-to-Halt,
A man with crutches, but much without fault.
Tell them how Master Feeble-mind and he
Did love, and in opinion much agree.
And let all know, though weakness was their chance,
Yet sometimes one could sing, the other dance.
Forget not Master Valiant-for-the-Truth,
That man of courage, though a very youth:
Tell every one his spirit was so stout,
No man could ever make him face about;
And how Great-Heart and he could not forbear,
But pull down Doubting-Castle, slay Despair!
Overlook not Master Despondency,
Nor Much-afraid, his daughter, though they lie
Under such mantles, as may make them look
(With some) as if their God had them forsook.
They softly went, but sure; and, at the end,
Found that the Lord of Pilgrims was their friend.
When thou hast told the world of all these things,
Then turn about, my Book, and touch these strings;
Which, if but touched, will such music make,
They’ll make a cripple dance, a giant quake.
Those riddles that lie couched within thy breast,
Freely propound, expound; and for the rest
Of thy mysterious lines, let them remain
For those whose nimble fancies shall them gain.
Now may this little Book a blessing be
To those who love this little Book and me;
And may its buyer have no cause to say,
His money is but lost or thrown away.
Yea, may this second Pilgrim yield that fruit
As may with each good Pilgrim’s fancy suit;
And may it some persuade, that go astray,
To turn their feet and heart to the right way,
Is the hearty prayer of
The Author,
JOHN BUNYAN.

Rhoni,

Did I ever comment on this? If not, I should have.

This is really a great post that you have made here.

I pray that God will give me the heart of Jonathan. I want to do my part to encourage everyone along their way. If I can do at least that much, I feel that life is worth the living.

There are those that will kill you with discouragement. There are those that will give life and animation to others with encouragement. We have a choice. I choose to give life.

You are a friend. I want to encourage you too. There might not have been a Paul had there not been a Barnabus.

Bro. Strange,

Thank-you for your comments. There is so much discouragement, depression, repression, and judgement in our world today that is the reason why Joel Olsteen's ministry thrives so. I think that we Apostolics should be happy, encouraging, and spreading the good news/the gospel and not the things that condemn and drag people further down than they already are. There is a more positive way to teach/preach that to label, condemn, and judge...and we need to find it before it is too late.

I, like you, thank God for a Barnabus when the rest of Chrisendom wanted Paul to pay for his mistakes in persecuting the Christians, Barnabus was the one who said...Let's think about what we KNOW God can do to change a life...and trust Him/Christ!

The Lord defends those who suffer; He defends them in times of trouble.
Psalm 9:9
It is so good to know that, when it seems like no one is on your side,
God is. When it seems like trouble is hitting you in every area of your
life, God is there working for you. Quit worrying about the how and
know that what ever it is, God is defending and working for you today.

Watch your thoughts;they become your words. Watch your words; they
become your actions. Watch your actions; they become your habits. Watch
your habits; they become your character. Watch your character; it
becomes your destiny.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come andminister to you. While everything appears wonderful in your life, did you accomplish this task by yourself? While you are abundantly blessed, did you achieve this goal by yourself? My friend, Don'tForget Who Brought You This Far! The Bible declares in Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Just because familymembers, friends and co-workers applaud you each day, should not cause you to forget how you got where you are now. If the truth were told, you have made many mistakes that only God could free you from. You have gone places you should not, been with people you should not and did things you should not. In spite of it, the Lord rescued you from the snare of the enemy. Do not think you are above rebuke. If it had not been for the Lord on your side, you would have been swallowed up (Psalms 124:1-3). Be careful to never allow the cheers of man to lead you away from the presence of God. The Bible declares in Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

My brother, my sister, Don't Forget Who Brought You This Far! It was not your nice salary, your wonderful spouse, your beautiful children, your awesome church, your big house or your never-ending wardrobe. It was the Lord who brought you to this point in your life. It was the Lord who put you in the position to receive the blessings you currently enjoy. It was the Lord who poured His favor upon your life. It was the Lord who looked beyond your faults and saw each of your needs. The Bible declares in Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Beloved, everything you have is because of God. Please do not deceive yourself. Please do not think you deserved all of the great things God has given you. To the contrary. We are recipients of God's blessings, only because Jesus gave His life in our place.

Today, refocus yourself on the truth. The truth is, everything that happened to you that was good ... God did it. Don't Forget Who Brought You This Far!
Prayer for Today: Father, help me to always be> mindful of Your provision and protection. What I have is because of You. What I enjoy is because of You. Thank You for blessing me to bless others. In Jesus' name ... Amen!

How do you expect people to respond?

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21

Few muscles in the body weild more power than the little one inside the mouth. Leaders who understand this can greatly increase their influence. Many have said the American culture has witnessed four styles of leadership since 1950, each having different expectations concerning how followers should respond to words:

Military Commmander: Leaders come out of the army and expected unquestioning obedience from subordinates.
Chief Executive Officer: Most leaders migrated to a different styledriven by vision and shared by everyone. Yet it was still top down and possibly very narrow in scope.
Coach: Leaders moved toward a coach model where they saw employees as players on a team. This produced even better results, but still limited the possibilities to the vision of the coach.
POET: Today, leaders have the need to express the heart of the team, as a poet gives words to the heart of the readers. They develop players using encouragement and direction. They recognize the power of words and use them wisely.

TOP THINGS THAT CAN AGGRAVATE YOU AT CHURCH

1. People who over-use the tambourine. Everybody isn't meant to beat it. When you don't do it right it is truly aggravating and a nuisance. Keep still and sing like everybody else during the slow songs.

2. People who fake the Spirit. Just because your friend caught it doesn't mean you did, too. If you’re running around the church and you stop out of breath after going only half-way
around, we know you haven't been "touched." SIT DOWN.

3. People who constantly holler something to the pastor all during the message. We don't need a comment from you after every sentence he makes. We know he's "preaching" and we know he's talking to you. SHUT UP so I can hear
him talk to me, too.

4. People who constantly go to the bathroom. Nobody has to use the bathroom four times a service. SIT DOWN.

5. People who can't control their kids. If little Jay-Jay is running all up and down the aisle and going back and forth to the bathroom, then you need to learn not to SPARE THE ROD.

6. People who take "Come As You Are" to a whole new level. I can understand if you’re going through something. But...Since when is it OK for men to wear hats in the church and wear their pants with the fly to their ankles?

7. People who bring food to church. If you brought your little one a
snack and you're eating it and dropping crumbs everywhere, that's a problem. Take that Oreo and the little darling outside.

8. People who come to special church functions and criticize. If you're standing in a corner gossiping about how you could've done a better job at something and you haven't volunteered to help with anything and haven't showed up to any invitations to join
a ministry, I must ask you to SHUT UP.

9. People who obviously show they don't like you. If you don't care for a person too much for whatever reason, at least put up a decent front to look past it and act right in church. Don't act a fool with your evil faces and smart comments.

10. Finally, parents who dress better than their kids. If you come in looking like a model for a fashion show and little Ashley is dragging behind you looking like she belongs on a "Feed the Children" commercial, you're DEAD WRONG. Give your child a "Just For Me” perm, wipe your kid's nose, comb your kid's hair, and buy them something decent to wear. Don't come out of the house looking like a MILLION BUCKS while your kid is looking like a FOOD
STAMP.

And the Church said, "AMEN."

How to Get to Heaven

Nothing shows a man's character more than what he laughs at.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Rev. Billy Graham tells of a time early in his ministry when he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon. Wanting to mail a letter, he asked a young boy where the post office was. When the boy had told him, Dr. Graham thanked him and said, "If you'll come to the Baptist Church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to heaven."
"I don't think I'll be there, " the boy said. "You don't even know how to get to the post office."

I have a very thankful heart today! My son was hurt on the job and had his finger almost severed but it is stitched and he is doing well. AndI am moving into my own place again on Lake Ray Hubbard, & God has blessed me with a job making more money than I have ever made before. I am enjoying my church and God is answering my prayers of long-standing.

Thank-you Jesus...
Hear these praises from a grateful heart,
Everytime I think of you
the praises start.
I love you so much Jesus, love you so much!
