I believe in one God, but I don't use the terms "oneness" or "trinity". I think they are neither one Biblical and they confuse people.

I've been thinking about TB's post for days, and finally, after finding something I was searching for, decided to post my thoughts here...for what they may be worth.
There was a time that I suffered from a particular mindset that was given a name by Sis. Felicity..."trinitarianoia -- a peculiar disorder suffered by many Oneness people." (I thought it was an 'itis' and that's why I couldn't find the word in my search).
'Trinitarianoia' is a good word, I think, to describe how almost fearful I used to be of anything that even had the appearance that it might be remotely leading or leaning or looking to be trinitarian.
When I used to sing solos, and there was a phrase speaking of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I'd change the lyrics.
I remember once singing He Wouldn't Let It Be, and the verse starts, What can I give for all you've done? You gave for my life your only Son...
I asked folks in our church what I could put in it's place...I mean, I know what I meant when I sing it, but others might not know and be confused. We couldn't think of anything that fit, so I left it...no one noticed.
My brother, Rob, just flat out won't sing anything with Father, Son and Holy Ghost mentioned...trintarianoia.
I never used to sing, Praise God from whom all blessings flow because it ends with praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost...trintarianoia.
I'll tell you why I feel this way...I am Oneness in belief and will always be!! As Felicity posted, there is One God and His Name is Jesus!! But when I was so careful that I didn't appear to be Trinitarian that I wouldn't even mention the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, my thinking was skewed.
The Bible very clearly makes a distinction...not in separate persons...I don't believe that for a second, but in separate operations and modes of the One true God.
Coming to this realization, a few weeks ago we were in a service/concert in Indiana and they sang the Doxology at the close of the evening, I sang it, too.
Those 'noias and itises' can really be something...:)

Sis. Barb,
Thanks for giving me a name for my condition! I am like your Bro. Rob. :tiphat
I am sorry that you were cured of your trinitarianoia.
I know Jesus is the Father
I know Jesus is the Son
I know Jesus is the Holy Ghost
I know HE's the ONLY ONE (as opposed to God all three in one)
I do not deny that Jesus has manifested himself to man in many diverse ways throughout all of time, but I never identify with 3 or 7 or 9 or 1500 in one... I simply and forthrightly identify with Jesus the only one! It was Jesus in the fire and Jesus in the cloud. It was Jesus in the burning bush and Jesus who fed the crowd!
I simply worship the one true and living God, Jesus Christ and see no reason to expressly separate him into a variety of manifestations or modes or persons. He is author & finisher. He is first and Last. He is He who was and is and is to come. Do not separate Him, Worship Him!
O BTW... in answer to the original question... I am oneness!:slaphappy :slaphappy

Those 'noias and itises' can really be something...:)Those who do what you have described here rob themselves of a dynamic in our relationship with God that I was missing for many years. When my understanding was opened to the truth that we come to the Father, through Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Ghost, it transformed my whole relationship with God.
Paul didn't have any problem articulating this and neither should we. We must never forget that the reason we are saved is that the Father wanted to reconcile us unto Himself. That was accomplished through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This becomes a reality in our lives by the transforming power of the Holy Ghost.

As much as I don't like to use the terms, I still get the heebie jeebies when the Doxology is sung. LOL!! They sang it at ORU at my daughter's graduation and I didn't know if my Mother In Law would pass out, but she did ok. I guess I still have enough UPC background that I don't want to sing the Doxology in our church.

Oneness; I've always cringed when at a church that sings the doxology. I may lean lib, but the oneness was totally poured into my very fiber since birth.

Same here, to the bone, but I know who the Father, Son and Holy Ghost is...I am not afraid to sing it at all...
The fact the First commandment says thou shalt not have any other gods before Me pretty much settles the issue for me..... There is more than one god...
I don't believe in the general concept of the trinity...

What is WRONG with you people?! I don't either!!
The Doxology does not say, "Praise God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost..."
But I do praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost and His NAME is Jesus...!!
