This from a link on the Drudge report today.

Adam LaDuca, 21, the former executive director of the Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans, wrote on his Facebook page in late July that Obama has "a pair of lips so large he could float half of Cuba to the shores of Miami (and probably would.)"

After being forced to resign his postion he commented.....

"And man, if sayin' someone has large lips is a racial slur, then we're ALL in trouble" (Adam LaDuca).

Was it racist or was it an attempt to highlight what may be Osama's cuba policy?

It was the stupidest thing an executive of any Republican Federation could have said given the perception of the party. What his observation has to do with such an important election escapes me. Why is he even discussing the size of his lips? It is just another example of the juvenile approach that many people take to elections.

She said she couldn't decide if she wanted to go to the game this weekend because she'd heard it was mainly a "crump fest".

What I Saw at the Two Conventions
by Dennis Prager
September 9, 2008

5. At the Democratic Convention, I spoke to a number of blacks, on the radio and privately, who predicted that if Barack Obama loses, most blacks will attribute the loss to racism, especially if McCain wins by a narrow margin. They did not even rule out the possibility of some rioting.

I just do not see people rioting as a result.
If he does lose by a narrow margin, you could attribute it in part to those who would vote against him because he's black. If he wins by a narrow margin you could attribute it in part to those who would vote for him because he's black.

Basically, the Black people who care enough about politics in our country to get really involved are not the same ones rioting.

I think the mindset will always be on Rodney King and when they make comments like that, "we won't rule that (rioting) out", it doesn't bode well for the memory.

But, I agree with you. Intelligent people do not riot.

I think there are certain elements that thrive on chaos and racial angst...Jessie Jackson and Al Sharton both do. It's in their best interests.

Even the News thrives on stuff like this and riots are in THEIR best interests too, just like war.

I haven't actually heard that term used but in the context that she said it, I would say that it is in reference to the "krump" dance style and culture which is a more hard hitting urban dance form that started in Los Angeles among African American dancers. It is more raw than hip hop and usually involves dressing like thugs and gang members.

I think that she was basically making what sounds like a somewhat racist comment about the type of people that would be at the game.

Hmm...who knows then? Maybe she just really hates the whole street wannabe gang look that she might find on a lot of young men at the game. We can always say more about our own culture than others can get away with.

Or I could be totally wrong. It certainly wouldn't be the first time:tease

Grey Goo, if we lived in a vacuum then a comment about lips would not have any relevance to race. Since we live in America and there has been much said specifically deregatory about Black people and lips, making a "big lip" comment about the first Black major nominee is going to evoke this reaction. Some have undoubtedly spoken of Jolie's lips in a derogatory way and have made connections between her and Black people due to her lips. It was a stupid, immature comment, and I still for the life of me cannot figure out why the President of such a Federation would be moved to talk about Obama's lips anyway.

Well I thought I was pretty good at African American slang/ebonics. But this has got me puzzled.

You could'nt say..."Hey Shirley, I was walking by your desk yesterday and I saw you on your cell phone, just as I was passing by I accidentally overheard you say Krunk fest....or something like that....I did not mean to overhear....girl you know I am not nosey....but (LOL) it has bugged me all night....what is Krunk Fest....good Lord.....?" "I feel so out of touch....not keeping up with the lingo....."

She will tell you...not be offended and get the message that you knew she was on a personal call while at work.

Just what I would do.....

If she said "Krunk Fest" she was just saying that it would be too rowdy and youth oriented. That is not an inference of violence or thuggery, just not the environment that she apparently wanted to be in. Krunk is a term that is basically started within music as a description of particularly rowdy music designed to get people really excited in clubs and at parties with flashing lights and smoke and stuff :)
