Did yoiu check your mailbox before you posted this thread to make sure there is not an injunction by someone blocking it?

Perhaps a disgruntled ABI alumni or ultra con JCM alumni who doesn't want the possibility of his face being seen on an evil screen?

Pianoman can answer this better but I can tell you that there were plans for a Volume two. I believe there is still a poissibility of that happening.

It would contain the Chapel service in which Rex Johnson preached a great sermon. The audio from that portion is not as good as we would like bcause for some reason the video folks did not plug into the sound board and just used the mics on the cameras. Arghhhh!!!! However it is listenable and very much worth it.

Obviously there is also a lot of footage from the three hour singspiration that did not make it on the edited DVD that just came out. More of that would be on volume two.

Smyrna is a bedroom community to Nashville. Leaving Nashville on IH24 towards Chatanooga Nashville blends into Antioch, then LaVergne, then Smyrna then where I live, Murfreesboro! (I may have LaVergne misiplaced in there it is so small I forget where it is exactly. It is mostly industrial)

What church is this singing at next weekend in Smyrna?

The one in Smyrna isn't next weekend...I misspoke. It is this coming Tues. the 17th, which is unusual...their services are always on a weekend.

The Collingsworth Family will be at the River of Life Assembly of God at 7pm. The contact person and number are on their website...thecollingsworthfamily.com

She was horrified at her performance. Once she got going she sounded good I thought but the beginning was not up to her usual standard. She did look pretty didn't she!!!

They actually meant for her to sing the whole song but she misunderstood and quit halfway through it (LOL). Probably a good thing since it was over 3 hours long without her singing the whole thing.

I think WG and LW thought they had to sing EVERY song they had ever sung (LOL).

It was a great time. I could close my eyes and I was transported back in time.

Well, PM, it just struck me as so...real, ya know?! People seemed to genuinely be happy to see each other and be there.

I especially liked what Bro. Craft said, that at a family reunion, everyone shows up...a couple of drunk uncles or the crazy aunt, but they are all welcome and are there because they are family (something like that).

My godbrother won't want to see it for the same reason he didn't go. I understand his heartbeat because I once shared it, but it is just silly too me.

Anyway, I will tell him I now have it...thankx again, PM...:thumbsup

JCM friends...Reg was here this evening and watched the DVD with me.

I am glad he watched it with me because we were able to talk about things and he was a bit less critical than he might have been.

Pianoman, he thought it was very well done. Of course you know he has not seen many of y'all in a long time and some 'things' didn't set well.

But over all, he was moved, especially at the end...he stood in our den with tears in his eyes telling me he enjoyed it.

And PM, my SIL came in the den when we were watching it and saw you. She was raised in the Anderson church when you were minister of music...her parents are Bro. and Sis. Gill.

It's been a hundered years and you may not remember them, but thought I'd tell you Joyce remembers you.:thumbsup

Barb,

Reg ought to talk to Darrell Johns. DJ is one of the most well thought of UPC men in ministry today. He and Carol had a great time.

At the time o the reunion Carol had some medical issues and it looked like she might not get to come. About two hours into the first night's meet & greet she told me "CC1, if I went home right now it would have been worth the trip!".

It is so sad that some people cannot seperate their faith from friends. I know that so many of the UPC folks who listened to the whisper campaign against the reunion would have really enjoyed it had they shown up AND if they had shown up the reunion would have probably been about 50/50 X vs. current UPC instead of the 65/35 or 70/30 split that was there.

Reg was an important part of my time at JCM and I would have loved to have seen him.

Barb, thanks for the update! :thumbsup

If we have another reunion, maybe some alumni will be more comfortable if someone like Darrel Johns heads it up. Since JCM was a religious college, it's very hard to seperate religion and beliefs from friendships. What made the reunion so magical was that all sides put down their weapons and a truce was called to focus on old friendships and memories.

If there is another reunion, we will do some things differently to maybe attract more from the UPC camp. I hope Reggie can make the next one if it happens!

I'm trying real hard to remember the Gills from Anderson! I wish I had a picture! Does Joyce have blond hair?

Barb, thanks for the update! :thumbsup

If we have another reunion, maybe some alumni will be more comfortable if someone like Darrel Johns heads it up. Since JCM was a religious college, it's very hard to seperate religion and beliefs from friendships. What made the reunion so magical was that all sides put down their weapons and a truce was called to focus on old friendships and memories.

No, brown...she was a preteen at that time, so you wouldn't remember her.

Her dad is Robert Gill and has been a member there since Adam was a pup, however, it was 1980 and a longtime ago.

I need something to jog my memory! Can you get a photo of her parents?

Yes, but not today...though she is here at the moment, if she had one, I don't know how to post it. So, I will have her put it on a disk and I'll send it to Felicity and she can post it for me.:nod

LOL!! I just noticed that my post that was made from my notebook computer in my lap with a dog in my lap also had a funny error. I meant to type 65/35 and 70/30 split and typed instead numbers that didn't add up!

Reg was an important part of my time at JCM and I would have loved to have seen him.Hope y'all don't mind a westerner joining the discussion...and way late too...but I'd like to comment on the idea of your reunion.

I think it is amazing that people would come together to remember the past, celebrate friendships, and re-connect lives. I think if this type of things were done more often, we might see more reconciliation.

Case in point...my parents left catholicism back in the day and were basically cut off for a while..but the family bond was greater. So as a family we stayed together, fellowshipped, and eventually, experienced revival in our own family. I believe God blessed my parents for their longsufffering and even thought they weren't around to see the fruits of their labor, I have witnessed God do amazing things in my cousins' lives and one day, we will all celebrate in heaven.

Kudos to the organizers, may God bless your efforts.

I agree...my understanding is that Pianoman and the organizers were careful to not make it a UPCI bashing party or an 'us' against 'them' type of affair.

From all accounts, and the interviews on the DVD bear this out, they succeeded and it was JUST a time of seeing old friends and remembering good times.

Thanks Monketman and Barb! When reading your posts, I thought about the special insert that we included with the reunion program. It goes as follows:

JCM alumni and friends represent a diverse group. Since our JCM days, there have been many changes in all of our lives.

Realizing this, we ask that you refrain from negative comments aimed toward others that have chosen a different path than yourself. Such talk would not be in the spirit that this reunion was organized. We are celebrating our JCM history, and each of us plays a part in that history. Our past we reflect on and our future we relinguish into God's hands.

We believe we can all be friendly and cordial to one another without it meaning we are giving our stamp of approval. Negative comments of any type will be frowned upon. Let's focus on sharing our many fond memories.

The extra precautions we took must have worked, because the reunion was very successful! :)
