It is the lowest it has been in a long time but still too high seeing as it is 100% Alberta crude refined that we are using!!!!
Enjoy the low prices while you can, there is an election coming up in the US in November,

Well over $3.00/gallon in the DC area.
Funny thing, price per barrel is about half it was when we were paying a little over $4.00/gallon.
Why aren't we are $2.00/gallon yet?

Am I the only one who doesn't know what E-85 is?????
E-85 ethanol is used in engines modified to accept higher concentrations of ethanol. Depending on composition and source, E85 has an octane rating of 100 - 105 compared to regular gasoline's typical rating of 87 - 93. It's big in the Midwest. Texas is beginning to sell this at more of stations. Postal Service uses it in some of their postal vehicles. I believe there are about 1500 service stations in USA. It's common in Sweden and Ireland. When made from corn, it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and carbon monoxide emissions.

Why is it gas more expensive in Canada than in the US, when Canada drills for its own oil, and doesnt have to import it like we do here?

Ron is the one who originally posted, but he wasn't referring to liters, I don't believe. They don't pay THAT much for a liter, although I agree that they pay more than we do.
So, you aren't really American then? :tease

Taxes
In the USA: "The nationwide average tax on gasoline is 48.4 cents per gallon as of October 2008, down 1 cent from July 2008."
For comparison sake, that's 12.8 cents per litre.
In Canada, on average, taxes represent 32% of the pump price. (@ $1/litre pump price, the tax/litre is 32 cents versus the American average of 12.8 cents/litre)
Our current price per litre is about $1, which translates to $3.78 per US Gallon (We use the Imperial gallon which is substantially larger @ $4.56). The current exchange rate is .80 which means that our current pump price for gasoline is $3.02 USD per US gallon.

When I first started driving, gas was $1.08 a gallon. To a kid with a car with a tank as large as a UPS truck, it was a lot of money to fill up for $26, especially when that car (1973 Buick Electra) was only getting about 8 miles to the gallon, and I drove 10 miles one way to school every day!
In the late 80's, gas dropped to $0.63 a gallon where I lived. At that time, I had a 1982 Ford Escort, and it cost $6 to fill it up and I got over 30 MPG!
I never thought I'd see gas under $2 a gallon again, but here we are!
Revelationist

I think it's cool to, except when I analize why it's cheap. We have 6.5 percent unemployment. Keep in mind that's only people that are drawing unemployment. Unemployment only last 12 weeks I believe and then your no longer a unemployment number. People have been loosing jobs all year long. So what is the true unemployment number?
25% Higher? The unemployed that can't draw unemployment any longer can neither afford to by gasoline... thus, the price of gasoline is based on supply and demand no mater how some may think the oil companys were in control of the price. Our joy is not someone else's....
