I just came back from the doctors office & he gave me the flu shot.
I have HBP so for me it was a freebie, most others have to pay.

Are you going to get a flu shot?

I never have gotten one before, but this year I have to. Since I'm working in a nursing home, it seems like the wise thing to do.

All elderly folks should.

Cause, I don't believe in all these vaccines and I've seen many get the flu anyway. My mother for one.

Fair enough.

I just hate being sick & the flu can go from 2-6 weeks in duration before you feel better.

I guess it is better to stay away from runny noses!

LOL!

Our company offers them free to all employees and their spouses - has nothing to do with age and EVERYTHING to do with not giving us any excuse to miss work!

If you eat right -stay away from caffeine and sugar, take extra Vitamin C, you will do well, without the vaccines. :thumbsup

Not today on the coffee. I'm cold!!! But I do stay away from sugar - always. It's evil. Always take my Vitamin C.

#1 - I hate needles

My next reason may stir controversy but I shall not be moved. :D

#2 - I used to work in the medical field. The flu shot can't possibly cover all the strains of flu that are out there. Based on my past experiences, people that took the flu shot for one strain simply came down with another strain and the hospital I worked for was STILL full of people and employees with the flu.

No thanks, its a waste of nerves to tolerate such ineffective needles! :D

True, the reason I got mine was it was free!

Yep, I am cheap!

I would get one if I was in a high risk catagory... senior or already sick.

I have absolutely no scientific evidence to back this up, but I am of the mind that I need to let my own body fight off illnesses as much as possible. If I continue to get the flu shot each year, my own immune system may get lazy.

I also think that the more immunizations we have, the more the "bugs" just mutate and new strains of things emerge. I'll get it when I feel I need it. Hopefully not for many years.

Hmmm.... maybe I should just continue to wear my latex gloves when I go into the rooms and invest in the little masks to filter the air I breathe. :D I hate needles!

At our house, the flu shot is mandatory because of Walt. NO ONE is allowed in this house or anywhere near it if we even suspect that they might have the flu. I know that there are lots and lots of strains and the flu shot only covers certain ones. But in our case, every one we can eliminate is one step ahead. We do NOT want Walt to get the flu if it can be helped!

Plus I have a kid with asthma who also doesn't need the flu.

So yep, it's vaccine city in our home.

Are you going to get a flu shot?

My son had a Bone Marrow Transplant in 2004.

He is 18 and lives with us.

So all those who live with him have to get the flue shot.

I have got the flu shot for the past 5 years.

I have not had the flu since 2002 Nov.

I got the shot 2 weeks ago.

I have never had a flu shot cause I trust God to keep me well!!!!!!!!!!!!!(God and my self righteousness) Just kidding! But I really havent had one and I am not a big believer in them. I guess I would rather rely on my imune system to just work right. Of course I need to eat right to keep that working good. Maybe I shoiuld get a flu shot.

Immune systems don't generally keep you from getting the flu....they instead attempt to KILL the flu virus once infected.

Not sure when we'll be able to visit. Zak is going back to WI in January, but I have to work until April, so maybe after that sometime.

That's too long, but nothing I can do about it!! :(

Yes, that is too long; but I certainly understand.

Why is Zak going to WI? (To live or visit?)

He's behind here, so in order to graduate on time, he has to finish there. He'll be living with the pastor up there until June, then coming back here. I have no other choice, as I looked at every option but there just isn't one here.

I'll get the flu shot next Wed (5th) free at work.
I've been getting the shot for about a dozen years. Most of my employers offered it free.
When my daughter was doing her RN studies in college she recommended it and I've done it ever since.
I also always do the extra Vit C.

Can't say never sick, but will say rarely sick.
