...I can't stand this show (on TLC)!

But it is like a sore in your mouth. You know it's there and you know it will hurt if you touch it with your tongue.... but you just can't help it!

And she's pregnant again, it's a girl. And I wonder what name they will pick that starts with the letter J. I did like the episode where they went to New York.

The Duggers were at In n Out in Stockton last night (11/2). They spoke at a church in Stockton. I have a picture but I do not know how to post it on here

I have a love-hate relationship with this show. LOL!!! On one hand, I admire them for defying the secular culture, and embracing a large (VERY large) family. I also love how they seem to work together on everything, and the kids seem very happy.

However. I can't help but wonder if this is really a reality show. I mean, come on. It's like watching "Leave It To Beaver" x 17. I guess I have a hard time believing everything goes SO smoothly, the kids never argue or bicker, there's no yelling, and the Mom is always cool, calm, collected, and never, ever seems to loose her cool.

I'm not saying it's impossible. Nor am I saying I WANT their home to be full of chaos. :D I'm just saying it lacks a measure of normalcy that would make it a lot more fun to watch.

And the homeschooling thing just baffles me. I'm homeschooling three kids right now, and I can BARELY keep up. How does she do it????

I do wish Mrs. Dugger would either grow all her hair long, or cut it all even with what's in front. :D

Oh, yeah...WHEN do Mr. and Mrs. Dugger find the TIME to make new babies??????

I am sure they only need once or twice every 10 1/2 months..... (Assuming the recommended 6 week wait after every birth.)

Part of my "hate" relationship with the show is how much it takes me back to my years growing up in our (very) conservative church. The whole "asking permission for everything" thing. Even going so far as the older son having his girlfriends PARENTS there when he proposed.

I think "Little People Big World" is pretty realistic as well (for a reality show). After watching The Duggers, the thought struck me that The Waltons had more strife in their family then they do!

I heard they do 18 month spacing. She weans the baby at 9 months so she can get pregnant again.

I've watched several episodes and you admire them but still think they're nuts. "17" is nuts.....
But our next door neighbors growing up had 15 children; one set of twins; eight girls, seven boys.
He was a pastor and wanted a large family so they could all be in the ministry. I think one son might have done some ministry and maybe two of the girls. Oh, well!

In the area of Southern WI we lived the past 5 years, there were several families there of 10 or more. Not only is having that many kids nutz in and of itself, but nearly all of them also did the "name every kid with the same letter of the alphabet" thing -like the Duggers.

I could name them (scary thought after all these years) but I'll take pity on all of you and refrain.
Apparently the same first letter game hadn't caught on yet! PTL

Well I think the hardest part for the Duggers was finding biblical names that started with J. Then they just got silly.

I don't think they will go that far. Although they are Christians.

Yes, it will. She does go to the hospital. I had 9 children. I was told it would affect me later on it life. And it has.

My sister only had 4 children. With each one her labor got shorter and shorter. With the last one, the nurse actually held the baby in until the doctor could arrive.

We used to joke that if she ever got pregnant again, she would sneeze and the baby would fly across the room. :D

My last took 20 minutes from labor onset to delivery. Just barely made it to the hospital. Thankfully the hospital was not far away.
