I am trying to find the words to a Lanny Wolfe song and I think the title is "The Party" The first verse started like this
You think life's just a party
?????
You like to play the day away
As if tomorrow won't come
Just as long as friends are around
????????
Cho.
Someday the party will be over
????
Can anyone help or point me to where I may find the rest of this song?
Thanks

I don't have time to listen and transcribe tonight. I'll do it tomorrow, if no on else responds.
I have new hours and start work @ 5AM.
Good Night.

This tread will re-open the old pandora's box for LW.
You think life's just a party
A carosel of fun
You laugh and play the day away
As if tomorrow won't come
Just as long as friends are around
Life is so carefree and gay. (this is the actual lyrics)
So eat, drink be merry today
Life is a game we play.
Cho.
Someday the party will be over
The fun and laughter gone
Your friends will leave you and all go home
And you will be left all alone
Then it will be just you and your soul
To face the long night through
Then you will wish you've known the Lord
And that the Lord knew you.
There is a second verse!!!

I'm in the process of recording a cassette from a 1977 album. I figure it will be easier to replay the cassette to get the words.
And to indicate the top notch equipment I'm using....the stereo came from Sears catalog in 1984 when we were pastoring a Home Missions church in a city of 12.000. The reason it has been kept through 4 moves is the fact that I still have all of these old albums and the stereo has a turntable. So it sits in a dark corner of the family room in the basement. I've used it many times to get the words to songs. Now I just have to listen and write.................................

You think life's just a party
A carousel of fun
You like to play the day away
As if tomorrow won't come
Just as long as friends are around
Life is so carefree and gay
Eat drink be merry today
Life's just a game we play
But someday the party will be over
The fun and laughter gone
Friends will leave and all go home
Then you'll be left alone
That's as far as I can go...

The Party
I
You think life's just a party A carousel of fun
You like to play the days away As if tomorrow won't come
Just as long as friends are around Life is so carefree and gay
So eat, drink, be merry today Life's just a game we play
Chorus:
But someday the party will be over The fun and laughter gone
Your friends will leave and all go home Then you'll be left alone
All of the signs of gaiety You knew just hours before
Will lie so cold and silent just dust upon the floor
Then it will be just you and your soul to spend the long night through
Then how you'll wish you'd known the Lord And that the Lord knew you
II
You live for this life only ignoring the one to come
Forgetting that someday you'll answer For all the deeds you have done
You like to joke about heaven and say it can't be true
So go right on with the party That's whats important to you
Chorus
But someday the party will be over the fun and laughter gone
Your friends will leave and all go home Then you'll be left all alone
All of the signs of gaiety You knew just hours before
Will lie so cold and silent just dust upon the floor
Then it will be just you and your soul to spend the long night through
Then how you'll wish that you knew the Lord and that the Lord knew you
Oh how you'll wish that you knew the Lord and that the Lord knew you
Someday you'll wish that you knew the lord and that the Lord knew you.

The ancient cassette player/recorder portion of stereo failed me ( and it's so new!) I listened to the album several times. I hope I got it right.
It's a neat collection of songs, I hadn't listened to it in years.

Hey, that is terrific! I appreciate your willingness to do this for me. You sound like you have some old equipment. Last I knew, my Mom and Dad still have the stereo that we used when I was a teenager--about 25-30 years ago. It still works and plays records. I remember that album, "An Evening With the Lanny Wolfe Trio". I used to have it, don't know what happened to it. I probably lent it to someone. Thanks again for coming thru for me.:tiphat :tiphat
