View Full Version : Why was Swordman banned????

Steve Epley
04-03-2007, 02:41 PM
I do not know the identity of Swordman but all the he-she(?) ever posted was scripture with NO comment why would they be banned?????????????

If quoting the Bible only on an Apostolic forum is banned maybe the forum should be renamed????? From ultra-lib t0 ultra-con why would just quoting the Bibel offend??????????

Might get banned myself for asking?

It's possible that he was using a proxy server, which is against forum rules. He wouldn't be the first that was banned for that reason-- but I don't know for sure if that was why.

It could have absolutely nothing to do with him posting scriptures.

Now the question let's say Swordman is a regular(again I have NO idea who he or she is) and their posts were ONLY scripture without comment what violence is done? Now y'all have been good to me I can get pointed and needed to apologize and did. I have edited posts when asked and sometimes after reading what I wrote I edited them myself. But banned for quoting the Bible how innocent can you be and what would be the crime. Not trying to be contentious y'all know I know how to do that but I am not understanding this help me?

2. Is it against the rules to use a proxy server????

How is hiding your identity with a proxy server any different than hiding it with an anonymous username?

Yes it is against the rules. Why? Because we can compare the IP addresses of folks that were banned who try to sneak back in and because we can they often resort to proxy servers AND spammers also use proxy servers

No. By virtue of using a proxy server he or she was trying to shield their identity from the forum managers.

The only reason for a proxy server is to not show what server/ip address you are really posting from.

Forum admins cannot tell when someone using a proxy server and were banned would come back on. That is one of the main reasons one of the rules is that you cannot use a proxy server.

One of the admins posted that when this person was emailed or PM'd about using the proxy server they did not even respond. More evidence their intentions are not honorable.

The person in question whose identity I do not know pmed me with a pm he sent to the administrators and said it was not so he was not on a proxy server. So what is the deal??? I said he but I don't know if it is a he or she but they are saying this is NOT so. So adminstration needs to clear this up

The Swordsman did send a PM to me because I was one of the staff online at the time, and I forwarded it to StMatthew. I'm sorry I can't do anything more. I'm just a moderator-- and the technical stuff is left up to those that actually know something about it. They don't want me in there messing around trying to figure out what is going on. I'm sure StMatthew will check into it as soon as he can. :)

Why do bannings of individuals have to become a trial for the moderators and admin of this board? Should we take a poll each and every time that an admin makes a decision to ban someone so that it is acceptable to everyone? It is not like the admin here are on a power trip.

I think that the question could have been asked to Admin via PM.

Ronzo
04-03-2007, 08:50 PM
The people who own the board have set these folks up as admins and moderators. They have confidence in them to make decisions on behalf of the best interests of the board and the owners.

They have the right to make those decisions as they see fit, regardless of whether the posters here agree with those decisions...

If one doesn't agree with those decisions, one has the right to not be a poster here.

That goes for me as much as anyone else...

It usually is, unless the admin team has set up special permissions for the 'banned' usergroup.

There's a reason to deny them the ability to pm others while banned though, so I doubt the admin team has done that.

I think there's some type of serious misunderstanding...
