Hi to all...
I am a new member. I have been lurking for sometime and decided I better get on board. I love the diversity I find here!
A little about me. I am 37. Happily Married with 3 kiddos (two step and one natural). The kids are 16, 12, and 11. My husband and I both were previously married. I have raised my two steps since ages 5 and 18 mos (now 16 and 12) so they are pretty much mine. I have discovered while raising teens that I essentially don't know anything!
My family attends a UPC church but are not hardline "standards" followers. I was not raised in any church (UPC or other) but became a Christian in a UPC church at age 22. My husband on the other hand is a 3rd generation UPCer raised in the same church with the same Pastor all of his life.
There is a great deal of history that has been left out. BUT I essentially decided to join for a number of reasons.
#1) The church environment I am presently a member of is NOT one where questions are welcome. I have questions but I don't necessarily want a one sided view point. It seems this forum offers that.
#2) I like good fun, fellowship and conversation. It seems I can find that here also.
And other reasons... but those are the two main.
