I undertand this to mean ,this means that there are some people not to discuss the things of God with, lest they use it agains't you.

That means don't give the the word to people who will not receive it and walk all over it and you.It's kinda hard to do though if your talking to a groupe of people.If it's one on one you can obey.

I think in the original setting if one in the first century shared things with certain people ,you might get turned in to the roman govt.

I think it means giving precious truths to people whom one knows would be causing them to mock them and treat them like trash.

I think it means giving precious truths to people whom one knows would be causing them to mock them and treat them like trash.Perhaps we can broaden it a bit to not include just truths but also experience and opinion as well.
