Is anyone else on the Daniel Fast? This is a 3 week fast. It is not only good spiritually but I find that the weight is really coming off me too.
Bro Klinedinst has a group that started this fast which started on January 2 and ends on the 23rd. The first couple of days are supposed to be the hardest, but I found that the 6th day was most difficult for me.

I have gone on 2 and 3 days fasts without any food, but this one is just fruit and veggies with no fats, sugar or dairy.

I was just curious if anyone has done this or not.

Why don't you turn around? In your avatar you look pretty fit.

That is not me. I'm no preacher... and I'm not Caucasian.

LOL. My bad. http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com/images/icons/icon11.gif

What's the story behind the avatar? Just curious, don't answer if I'm being too nosey.

It represents where I should have been a long time ago. :(

And with that said, I'm going to submit a new thread in a few minutes.

I have done the Daniel Fast several times. The beginning of the fast is hard for me. I find that I feel much healthier while doing the Daniel Fast. I don't think God intended for us to consume as much sugar, fat, etc as we do.

I feel much healthier too and more energetic. I haven't had indigestion since I started this fast. Around day 6, I could have robbed a McDonald's for a greasy sausage and biscuit and I don't even care that much for sausage. The hardest thing at first was giving up my Pepsi One and sweets.

I'm hoping to start this Monday. I've got some ready to do on it and a cookbook, then I'll go shopping to get the GOOD stuff in my kitchen and get started on it.

I've eaten all the snacks and bad things I had in the house trying to clear it all out, so now I have to lose more than I did before I decided to go on the diet.... dumb.

I took most all of the BAD stuff (which left my cupboards bare!) and gave it away or just tossed it out.

As far as shopping for food, my grocery bill is not as much since I haven't spent all the money on meat. You'll make it girl!

Can diabetics use this diet?

I tried the Daniel Fast once, and my stomach got SO upset, I had to go off of it. Not sure what I did wrong.

Anyway, our church started a 21 day fast Monday, so I'm still in the "hard" part. I felt like the Lord told me to give up meat and sweets. So I'm living on salads, bean soup, oatmeal, things like that. It's not too awfully, except I'm CRAVING chocolate, and I love desserts! After the first week, it will be easier.

I'm trying to stay away from all refined sugar and flour too. Basically eat much healthier. I've already lost about five pounds since Monday, so there will be those much needed advantages too.

Did a search and it said with a few modification you should be able to - but, of course, ask your doctor first.

I don't know Cindy, but Google the Daniel Fast and you'll probably find what you are looking for. Are you diabetic?

as you start any fast, whether it's a partial fast or a complete fast - any deprivation to your body will cause withdrawals and detox like symptoms.

But it's good for you to get that mess out of your system.

I had to do a 14 day CLEAR liquid diet a few months back to prepare for surgery - it ws so hard at first but I got used to it soon enough and actually felt great. It cut the cravings, totally gave up soda, coffee, fats, sugars...all that.

I highly recommend a fast of some sort not only for spiritual reasons but for health and to kick start any diet.

We are fasting *entertainment* next week. This week is sweets, last week was red meat.

While reading in Daniel on Dec 3th, God began to deal with me...it was about meat and sweets too!! I went 21 days and ended on Christmas eve with the Daniel's fast. I lost about 5lbs through Christmas season which was amazing for me as I love to bake and eat what I bake!!

Jan 5th, I started back on some what of a Daniel's fast.... only thing is I allow one serving of fish a day if I want...and also am eating Ezekial bread...

usually have to buy it at an organic healthfood store...but our Kroger store has a wife variety of wholesome foods....and they have it in their freezer section of the health foods dept...it is frozen because of no preservatives..and it is $4.99 a loaf.

I had to have something with more protein since I am exercising.

I'm on a modified version of it now. I am just not eating meat such as beef, chicken and pork. I do allow myself fish.

Hey, Lisa, I bought Ezekial Bread last week for the first time. It was frozen at Kroger, and I'm keeping it in the fridge, because I only eat it toasted anyway. It's pretty good - the one I bought has a strong flavor. It's expensive though; mine was actually over $5.00.
