Praying
1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
If you have ANY sin in your life that you want God to forgive, just confess (admit) it to Him. That verse says that God is faithful and will forgive any sin and will cleanse from unrighteousness.
If you sincerely ask God, "God, be merciful to me and forgive all my sins," He will. That's really all there is to it. Then ask Him to help you live for Him.
P.S. When God forgives, He also forgets.

Maybell,
Just so you will know... you aren't alone in your struggle. Many of us here have been, at some point in our Christian walk, where you right now. We were out of fellowship with God and needed someone to pray with us, and, just as importantly, to listen to us. I know this because I am one of those people. Until just recent;y, I was where you are, apart from God, needing someone to pray with and for me. So, I did just what you are doing. I asked people to pray, and they did. And God answered. Over the past few weeks, I have seen the Lord move in my life in remarkable ways. The people here on AFF know how to pray... and to love. Almost a year ago, right after the death of my wife in Feb., I needed people to pray and they did. If they hadn't have prayed for me then, I doubt that I would be here to type this. But they prayed, and there have been some drastic changes for the better in my spititual life the last few months.
Be encouraged, Maybel. People are praying. And remember this, God is still your Father. He still loves you, and wants to renew fellowship with you. If there is anything I can do to help, please post here or send a Private Message. In the mean time, please know I am taking your request seriously and am praying for you.

For some reason, I can't get "maybell" off my mind. I am not sure if this person is a male or female or where he or she is located. All I know is that this dear person needs prayer. God is keeping her (I am thinking maybell is a her) on my mind for some reason.
Please continue to pray for her.
Maybell, people here do pray for others. I know. I have requested prayer and received it several times. God loves you and cares about all of your needs.

Maybell, there is NOTHING that God will not forgive you for. Peter was forgiven after He denied Christ not once, but three times!
Where sin abounds, His grace does MUCH MORE ABOUND!!!!!
If you have backslid, don't assume God has moved away from you in the same manner--He is still right where He always was, and better yet, you aren't required to do all the work of getting back to Him! He said that if you will draw near to Him, He will draw near to you!
I have three children, and there is no way I would ever refuse them, if they were to ask forgiveness of some wrong! I love them no matter what. If I feel that way about my own children, being just a woman, how much more does God love you and care about you?
Don't let the devil lie to you and tell you it's "too late", you've done "too much", or you've gone "too far." There's NO SUCH THING. Praying for you!!!!!!!!!
Jas 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Jas 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Jas 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
Jas 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
I suggest following this scripture...it's a great path back to God for someone who has lost their way. My take:
Find a prayer closet somewhere and submit your heart and mind to God. Resist the devil and his lies!
Draw near to God, and don't worry--He'll draw near to you.
Get up, dust yourself off, cleanse your hands (from wrongdoing), and purify your mind!
Pour everything out before God, humble yourself in His sight, and He will lift you up!!! :thumbsup

I don't know who Maybell is, but she sounds like someone who struggles with forgiveness as I do. There are people who can carry on after asking God's forgiveness as if nothing happened, but I'm not one of those people. I self-condemn to the point where I can't accept God's forgiveness because I can't forgive myself. This is such a major struggle in my life that it's hard to move on, even when my will is to accept God's love and forgiveness and move forward.
I'm a weak, carnal person. I try to behave myself but my spirit is much weaker than my flesh. The solution to that problem seems so simple, but for me, it's not. I long for the heart of David, but I'm no David. There are times it seems that giving up would be so much better than continuing to struggle, but I've given up before, and that road isn't a smooth one.
I need deliverance. I know this, but getting it scares me to death. I don't know why either, but it does. I have thought in the past that I could be possessed. I still think that from time to time and if you could see me, you'd understand why I think that.
Anyway, I didn't want to make this thread about me, but I hope that Maybell isn't going through this same thing as I am and I hope she's found what she was seeking.

I don't think maybell will mind my bumping this post to the top of the Prayer Closet section. She answered a private message I sent her and she is still in great need of prayer. Admittedly, sometimes it's difficult to pray for someone we don't know but all of us who read this post need to take her on your heart and pray for her daily.
Please continue to remember to pray for maybell. We've all been in dire need of prayer from time to time.
maybell, I know there are people here who pray. Falla39 is one of the best!

I love this song. I finally found it many years ago on cassette. I searched at youtube and never found it there by The Greenes.
I did find the lyrics. I pray they will encourage you Maybell.
WHEN HE SEES ME
Recorded by The Greenes WHEN HE SEES ME
@1986 The Greenes @1986 Riversong Records
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Looking down through the ages God beheld the dying soul,
Sin had brought separation, nevermore could man be whole.
There must come a Lamb, one who's blood alone redeems,
Bringing gifts to the Father of our souls made white and clean.
CHORUS:
And when He sees me, He sees the blood of the Lamb.
He sees me as worthy and not as I am.
He views me in garments as white as the snow,
For the Lamb of God is worthy and He washed me, this I know.
2. So He left that holy city, travelin' on to the cross.
Just to bridge the gulf to glory and to rescue all the lost.
By His blood He entered into the throne room of our God,
And on the mercy seat He placed it, salvation for us all.
CHORUS:

Dear Maybelle,
Jesus saves to the utmost! Jesus forgives us our sins as far as the east is from the west...no matter how grievous we think they were/are. It is often times easier to believe God forgives us than for us to forgive ourselves. It is the devil's business to shame us into staying bound when Christ has already paid the debt in full and cancelled the penalty for our sin.
When the devil comes in against your mind...do as Christ did in the wilderness - use the word to say, "Get thee behind me satan, this is what Jesus says about me..." . Isaiah would tell us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God made us in His image and has invested alot in us...His Son to be exact. He wants us to have LIFE, and have it more abundantly!
Be blessed, and know that many are praying for you. Prayer changes things that appear hopeless. I know many on this forum who are prayer warriors and they are praying for you.
Love & Blessings, Rhoni

I want to tell everyone on here that I am so grateful for all of your encouraging words and for all of your prayers. I have been wanting to say this for a while but I’ve been kind of embarrassed to do so since it has been so long since I first posted my original message. After I wrote my first post I didn’t even return to AFF for a while. I had never been on a forum too much before and I didn't know what I was doing. Private messages that were being sent to me were going to my Spam folder on my email and I didn’t even know that people were writing things here. When I came back on here and looked around I was so surprised to find all of my messages and all of these kind words here. Like I said before, I was embarrassed to write back then because of the amount of time that had gone by. Hopefully you will all understand and accept my belated thanks.
I did pray back through a while back and even though I’ve had a few set backs I’m still going on. I might even make it out of the prayer closet some day. :)
Thanks again!

I saw thuis thread and thought of something I wrote some time ago. I hope it is a blessing....
Jesus gives the broken and crushed a promise of hope. The Psalmist said: The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalms 34:18 ESV).
David knew all too well what it’s like to be heartbroken and crushed in spirit. He felt the stings of rejection from his father, his brothers, his king, his men, his people, his children, and his wife. He knew that sometimes a man can strive to be his best, and yet still be rejected by those he cares for the most.
Jesus said this: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3 ESV).
“Poor in spirit” is not about physical poverty, but speaks of man’s impoverished soul crying out for Jesus. Those who recognize this need, Jesus said, inherit the kingdom of heaven.
John the Baptist was chosen to be the forerunner of Jesus Christ. Like Jesus, John’s ministry was foretold though the mouth of the prophets. He was given the task to baptize Jesus, thus inaugurating Jesus’ earthly ministry. John’s life was anointed of God and yet toward the close of John’s calling he was plagued with rejection and doubt. While in prison, John began to question his life’s calling. Fears and doubts began to gnaw at his mind. He might have wondering whether he spent his time preaching about the correct man. He might have thought he had the right man, but believed that Jesus was not doing enough. Maybe he wondered if Jesus was the One, or was there yet to be another one to come. Regardless, in desperation he sent his disciples to ask Jesus whether He was the one to which they awaited. Jesus never questioned John’s inquiry. He did not rebuke John for his doubt. What He did do was answer John’s question and heal his doubt by saying: "Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is the one who is not offended by me" (Luke 7:22-23 ESV).
Notice Jesus’ care for the broken and crushed of this world are the evidences of He said proved He is mankind’s savior. Jesus told those disciples to go back and tell John that He not only notices men’s needs, but He also takes action that brings them change. Jesus then did something to embolden John. He told those men to tell John that there is a blessing that comes with not being offended by Jesus. In context, Jesus is saying that there is a blessing awaiting those in the midst of test and trial if they won’t allow their distress to turn them away from Jesus.
Jesus knows what it is like to be broken and crushed. Isaiah prophesied: He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:3-5 ESV).
Jesus experienced the distresses of life firsthand. He felt rejection and the stinging comments some men ignorantly make against those who are tested and tried. Yet during Jesus’ times of brokenness and crushing, He showed men the way in which they should maintain their faith in God.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15 ESV).
Once a year the High Priest approached God with man’s sin offering. Jesus also took care of man’s sin offering, but what's more He ministers to man’s weakness and brokenness with a sympathy birthed from experiences He had like their own. Jesus has not only “been there and done that,” but He also has the ripped and bloodied tee-shirt to prove it!
Jesus calls us to embrace our brokenness and our crushed spirit. In God’s kingdom, pain is designed to lead us to Jesus’ healing. He said if we will look to Him, He would always there in our time of need. Jesus promises He is near the brokenhearted and that He saves the crushed in spirit. This means there is a blessing awaiting those who are broken and crushed in spirit. Don’t allow offense to deprive you of the blessed rest found in Jesus’ presence.
Grace and peace,
