Praying. This is a serious and painful disease, but there is a lot of reason not to despair. First of all, our God is able!

Secondly, there was an outbreak in Rio a few years back where over 1 million people were infected. Of that number, just 16 individuals died as a result. The profiles seem to indicate that most of these tragic cases were among the elderly and people with weakened systems.

Your granddaughter's youth is a big plus in her favor. Hang in there and be encouraged! We're all praying.

Sherri it is very remote..she is in the hospital..the hospital has one attending doctor and he also is responsible for other villages..right now he is not even at the hospital.

Things don[t look good but GOD IS MORE THAN ABLE. I have not told my daughter in law how dangerous it really is because she is scared to death already...We are trying to see about renting a car to go up there...however it is a long ways...

Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a severe, potentially deadly infection spread by certain species of mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti).

Dengue fever and hemorrhagic is different...

I didn't realize there were actually two different infections. I just read about them online - very sad that there is no cure available, with as much knowledge as man has now.

We will definitely continue to pray for Sabrina. Keep us informed! And if you go, please drive carefully.

Agreeing in prayer right now with these. Lord, we need a miracle. This is a child whose body you formed in her mother's womb. You know every tiny detail. And you know better than anyone else how to make her whole again. Please, God, we humbly come before you right now, asking for you to show your Power and your Might. We will give you honor and glory whatever the outcome. But we are asking. You said that we have not because we ask not. So we are asking. Thank you, Jesus. In your name.AMEN

Sis. Alvear, I am continuing to pray. I've been in some pretty grim hospitals. I lived in Africa for a while and while there, contracted the strain of malaria that causes the brain to swell and usually leads to death if not treated quickly and properly. The hospital I was taken to was one that if you weren't sick when you went in, you sure would be when you left. It was a place that if you wanted a pillow or covers on your hospital bed, or broth or safe drinking water, your family had to provide them. I remember my husband and a friend standing over my bed shooing away the bugs and mosquitos. There were no glass or screens on the windows - just open cutouts. But, God was with me. A doctor from Miami happened to be doing some volunteer work there. Someone had donated i.v. fluids and boxes of new tubing and needles. We were able to get the other medicines I needed. Everything that I needed, God provided in the midst of the African bush.

My point is this - it doesn't matter if it is the Mayo clinic or a mud clinic, when God is the healer on duty, it is the best medical care in the world.

We will continue to pray that God will touch your granddaughter and be with you and your family through this.

Thank you precious folks she has recieved a very strong touch from the Lord. They did exams this morning and will have the results this afternoon.
I just talked to my daughter in law and the fever is down, she is medicated....they have taken her home because they can do at home what the hospital cannot do. The hospital is very limited. She is taking IVīs, medicine for fever and at this moment my son has gone to the jungle to get a special kind of coconut that is used for strength. It is the yellow type and not real common, the green kind is about everywhere but not the yellow kind.

This morning the hosptal run tests and we will know something after 5 today...We believe the Miracle has happened...I will keep you folks informed...and please keep praying in the meantime. thanks...

Great Lord God,
We know You SEE and KNOW all that is going on in this situation. We do not always
understand Your ways but know they are so much higher than our ways. When things
take a turn for the worse, we MUST TRUST YOU regardless of how it goes. In the night
time, Praise Your Name, in the Good Times, do the same. In everything give thanks!
Lord, we just HOPE and PRAY that You will see fit to touch and raise up this young girl,
IN JESUS NAME!

I know we often think we are having it rough but I WAS STUDYING LATE LAST NIGHT AND READ THIS...

Roman imprisonment was preceded by being stripped naked and then flogged, a humiliating, painful, and bloody ordeal. The bleeding wounds went untreated; prisoners sat in painful leg or wrist chains. Mutilated, blood-stained clothing was not replaced, even in the cold of winter . …
Most cells were dark, especially the inner cells of a prison, like the one Paul and Silas inhabited in Philippi. Unbearable cold, lack of water, cramped quarters, and sickening stench from few toilets made sleeping difficult and waking hours miserable . …Because of the miserable conditions, many prisoners begged for a speedy death. Others simply committed suicide.
In settings like this, Paul wrote encouraging—even joyful—letters and continued to speak of Jesus. Paul was eventually executed during Emperor Nero's sadistic reign(Christian history by E. Coffman)

Reading these things and more..our trials and sufferings are so light...

Thank you folks. Brother Alvear is in town trying to get things together for us to head up that way tomorrow...

Later today I will have more news...will keep you praying folks informed.
