For oldtime sake, I had to make a return to share the BIG NEWS with all the AFFers

Did yall hear that Renda has found a boyfriend and he's proposed to her???

She met him on Facebook! sources tell me he's not of a Pentecostal background??? She can set the record straight on that one.

Also, It's not confirmed as to whether they are officially engaged or not as I did not hear whether she accepted his marriage proposal.

Okay - Mark wanted to break the news that I actually have a guy in my life. At this time we are just getting to know each other better (we didn't meet on FB either).

No proposals yet, however, in our discussions he did say that if I did this one certain thing that he might ask me to marry him. He asked if I could make strawberry crepes. Not a problem - I've been making strawberry crepes for about 30 years.

He is American and since there's no wedding bells ringing I won't be moving any time soon. As for kids -- NO! He has two grown boys and I have two grown kids.

I wasn't posting because I had a meeting and the whole time I was worrying about what St. Mark was posting!!!

A couple of things...
1. Your approach seems thoughtful, admirable, and generally a solid witness that you are benefitted by the wisdom learned over your years of life and the difficulties that teach us so well.

2. The Strawberry Crepe thing is cute but I am confident you are not elevating it to either a wet or a dry fleece.

3. Solid call the whole kid thing....the emotional volitily of blending families (at any child's age) should never be taken lightly.

4. Whatever makes you happy and God is able to confirm in your heart --makes me happy for you!

warmest regards,
tbpew

1. Yes, I'm trying to use all that wisdom and experience learned over my life time.

2. Strawberry crepe thing was just cute and not a wet or dry fleece (whatever that means), but of all the things he could have asked if I made this was a shocker. It's my kids favorite thing I make!

3. Kids - not EVEN an option at my age.

4. That's nice and thank you. I am asking for God's guidance all the way. The beauty of my situation is that I'm for the most part content - happy with my life. If God sees fit to bring someone into my life to make it even happier, then I'm all for it. If not, I'll still be happy.

Great post as I know Renda's thoughts are the same. :thumbsup

I will go on record to say that I, for one, am only encouraging her to a degree as it does involve a "MAN" (:D) and she is also using wisdom in the matter.

AND there are some instructions I would give her to follow, but I am more cold hearted than she could ever be, therefore, she uses discretion. :toofunny

I just think that someone of your experience does not need "signs" when one-on-one communication with the wonderful counselor is just a "prayer away".

My caution was not even remotely considering "new" children....strictly the existing ones! It is so difficult to enter into the proper perspective to consider how these things weigh in our children's lives and their emotional expression of family. They (our children) certainly do not have veto power but it is far better for them to share their concerns "pre-vows" rather than "post".

tbpew,
The Strawberry Crepe reference was just a neat thing because it's something that she likes to make and always has and he mentioned it was something he really likes without knowing that about her. That's all that was about.

Lol - - just having fun with ya on the fleece. I prefer non-fleece (I'm hot natured) :ursofunny

You are so right about the children - - I was anxious about telling them, so I started with my daughter first and she said - - "well, it's about time" and when she saw his picture she said, "aw, mom, he's cute"!

I approached my son more cautiously thinking he'd show the most resistance. I asked if he was okay with it and he said, "why wouldn't I be?" LOL - - you just never know. Of course, we are just talking about meeting someone and getting to know them. Might be different if it ever gets more serious.

Hey...you know what....can you imagine the distributed information-gathering capability represented right in Happytown AFF!

How many virtually-intellegent search engines are represented here. We could cross-reference each and every "hit" and start a thread for each one. Then with the combined craziness represented by the AFF membership, our analysis could generate vast speculations from any little snip and then add 200 pages of speculation from silence.

Let's see if that effort pegs rgcraig's nosey meter!

well i'll be nosey, where did you meet and what religion is he?

I just met an old flame through facebook that is baptized in jesus name but attends a trinnie church. we are both about 40 and single. I am not as strict as I used to be but I prefer an apostolic church. any advice?

Hey, I think that's great! You need to meet up with this person! We attended a trinny church for a while just because there wasn't any other option - - they don't jump on you and suck your brain out along with your Jesus name baptism.

I'll explain more if the relationship continues to bloom.

After school I noticed Ryan's fingernails were a little long & I can't stand long fingernails on a man, so I started to trim them on Ryan.
One finger I got a little to close & nicked a bit of the skin, I was reAl popular with my wife, you would thought I was trying to kill him.
Nothing that a band adi won't fix.
So last night he goes at washes his hands & his band aid comes off.

"Come here Ryan I will put a new one on!"
My wife says, "Ryan, give daddy the finger!" She didn't reali8ze what she said, nor I did as well.
"Come on Ryan, give me the finger!" I sad.
"Ryan, daddy wants you to give him the finger!"
Guess which finger was needing a bandage?? Yup, the middle finger.
He gives me the finger & when he did I realized what I had been saying & my wife realized & we were both rolling on the floor in tears with laughter & all the while Ryan thought we were laughing at him!

He didn't understand.:ursofunny

A few questions:

Height?
Weight?
Does he have hair?
Is he rich?
Is he oneitarian?
Does he know about AFF?
What state is he from?
Is he in his 40's?

5' 11"
I'm not going to ask his weight - he might ask mine!
He has a full head of hair
Not rich
Didn't know there was an oneitarian.
He doesn't know about AFF
KY
He is 5 yrs older than me.

Hmm...sounds like there are some secrets in this relationship.:sad:sad

I think you need to confess your online addiction to him. I think he needs to provide you his W2 from last year.

I am most concerned about his state of residence.

Kentucky? RENDA!!!!!! Kentucky? Seriously?

Are you sure you're not related to him somehow?

Renda has tried to keep this whole thing on the down low.

In fact, she PMed me and asked me not to disclose any more info.

If she goes into denial mode, it's because she doesn't want too much info made public right now such as details of the engagment, wedding plans and pastoral advice from Eddie C and Brother Keith.

Great advice on the kids.. I totally agree with you...especially in cases like mine when kids are still at home. I've given a lot of thought to the fact that it wouldn't be a good thing to blend families. I'm sure Renda is glad she doesn't have to deal with that. :) *whew* perk to being a little older. ;)

Little off topic (sorry Renda) The reference to Gideon was interesting...and I agree again... I'm not sure why people use that in the dating realm... (but they do...and not saying Renda was at all) Gideon already knew the will of God...as God had spoken to him... he just was unsure and doubtful at times he was still in the will of God. Every time I hear of someone wanting to fleece for the will of God.... I want to say "pray for the will of God"

The whole thing on Gideon and fleecing got my whole post and thread deleted on singles site I was discussing this on once before... can you believe that?? :D

On page 207 she shows a wedding cake made from "CREPES"!!!

They are ordered from www.ladymconfections.com

http://www.ladymconfections.com/images/millecrepe-top.jpg

Of course, they were made to look like a tiered cake and you add whatever filling you want. They suggested: chestnut, espresso, chocolate or vanilla.

Well, I am glad that if he can't be a benefit and a positive involvement in your life - that's he's gone!

We all know YOU, but we don't know HIM, so I can only be happy, knowing God is watching over you, that someone who isn't and possibly could not be a benefit to your life is gone! I'm sure he'll pop in to say hi, from time to time.

Here's how smart men are!

"One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old.. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water.

After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up.

Then she says, (as only a mother would know...) 'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?'"
