As many of you know, Ryan my 7 year old son called 911 & hung up while my oldest was baby sitting.
I was gone for a half hour & when I got back I found out that the officer who came by made an 8unsubstantiated claim that we as parents were guilty of neglect!!

I got a call from a social worker that there is still an open file open at Social Services in regards to this claim!

I contacted a Lawyer & he said that it would be in my best interests to cooperate with them lest they cause problems for our family!
I will be out of pocket about 400 bucks to pay the lawyer for this one meeting.

Please pray that this will "GO AWAY!"

BTW, Ryan almost got the Holy Ghost on Sunday & in prayer I heard him whisper, "Jesus, forgive me for calli9ng 911!":thumbsup

Thanks & God Bless!

Cute prayer! Seriously, it is very beneficial for him to see what pranks can do at an early age, since he is a Dennis the Menace - of sorts! Gotta love him!!! :toofunny

Thanks PO!
For sure there are ramifications for pranks & when I got off the phone from the Social Workers Ryan overheard my wife & I discussing this & he became dead quite--totally serious!

Why, oh why did my children end up acting like my wife's side of the family?:foottap

LOL!

Well, my daughter ran away, once, and Social Services became involved. I was furious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I told her that if they took her away that, at least, I knew where I would be sleeping - every night -for the rest of my life. She, on the other hand, would not. :toofunny

Anyway, a little time went by and the case was dropped.

I can understand the furious part, however I think that the Social Services over extend thier mandate & go on "fishing expeditions!":foottap

We have a wife of a minister in our Church who is a Settlement worker for the Vancouver School Board helping new immigrant families in the school system.
She has dealt with the Ministry Of Social Services & agrees they are a pain &
have too much power!:sad

Good for you everything worked out!

Great and ALMIGHTY LORD GOD!
You see this whole situation regarding this child calling 911. Lord, we've all been
children at one time and did foolish things. We did foolish things because we WERE
children. LORD, it is You that has made us and not we ourselves. We are Your people,
the sheep of YOUR pasture.
Now, LORD GOD, You know that these social workers have become involved and You
know why they have become involved. GREAT and ALMIGHTY LORD GOD, if You would
see fit, deliver Bro. Ron and his family from any further problems regarding this matter.
You are our Father and we depend on You for the things we cannot handle. In JESUS
NAME, we humbly ask these things. Thank You for what You WILL DO regarding this
matter!

Ron,

Your situation reminds me of those situations you read about where some goofy school expels some student for giving a friend a tylonel because they have a "zero tolerance" policy regarding drugs or the elementary school that makes a huge deal about a six year old boy hugging a little girl. This politically correct.....er...feces....drives me crazy.

How old is your oldest who was babysitting while you left the house? You might want to check if your state has an age limit for children being home alone. It varies by state and some states don't give an age. You could possibly have the law on your side. I think in our state a child can be left it there is someone 12 or older in the house.

been there seen that, because of an anonymous call saying our daughters were locked out of the house in the daytime, if you could imagine that , also that their noses were runny , im not making this up, and the last one that one of our daughters wore the same dress for several days in a row ,guilty, it was her fave and you couldnt pry it off .so two dhs workers showed up and interviewed us and the kids in our little trailer we lived in and it was neat as a pin, the girls were all dressed up, it was pretty obvious there wasnt a problem. they apologized for taking our time and left. never heard from them again. ps one of my daughters is a deacons wife, the other is an evangelizing ministers wife. im sure it will be ok ron , that cop was an stuck on stupid!

Good for you! Do you have to tell them that you have it turned on to use the recording, if you need it?

I believe the law in Canada states that as long as one party knows that recording is taking place it is okay.
It is similar to nanny cams, elder cams, & undercover investigations by news & such.

Admissibility in court may depend on the judge!

She just met with my wife & I and I was surprised that she informed us of a B.C. Law that says while corporal punishment is allowed, using a spatula, or spoon is not & a parent could be charged with assault if we do.
We have used a spatula & a spoon in the past.

We usually withdraw thier privileges from Nintendo, or Computer!

Much more effective!

Ron, glad for you it's over for now. I stopped by to check on my grand kids a few years ago. When I went to the door my 10 year old grandson (he's a pastor now) came to the door and asked who's there. I changed my voice and said "ME" It got very quiet and I said Rustin it's grandpa. He opened the door and informed me that he had just called 911. About that time the phone rang and I answered and it was 911 wanting to know if everything was OK. I told them I was the grandfather and everything was OK. She said thanks and hung up. I wondered what would happened if I wasn't the grandfather and was there to kidnap the kids. It seemed very strange to me.

Ron, I am glad to hear that this has turned out ok so far.

I honestly believe that at some point in the future, God will use this experience in your life to help you minister to someone who needs it. I don't know how or when. I just "feel it", you know what I mean? Plus I don't believe that anything we go thru is for nothing. God HAS a reason. He doesn't always tell us what that reason is, but He does have one.

We are not out of the woods totally yet, the social worker said the final step is to call the school or Doctor & then it will close.

We do have a permanent record with social services though, & that Vacuums!!

They just passed a bill through here in TX that allows CPS to take the children without a search warrant. If they get a call from anyone and feel they have just cause can come in a take the children, search your home, look up medical records, and strip search the children all without your consent.

We are praying the Governor will veto this bill. CPS isn't anything to play with.

We used corporal punishment raising our kids but it was spankings with a belt instead of kitchen utinsels!

The school and TV had so indoctrinated the kids against possible child abuse that one time when my oldest son was about 10 and had gotten a spanking he threatened to call the police on me. That did not go over very well.

When my daughter tells people she plans on spanking her daughter when she gets older if she needs it they tell her that she won't really do it. She tells them that they don't know her family. We don't put up with bratty kids.

My kids had a great life growing up and got to do lots of things but they were well behaved 99.5% of the time because they knew there were consequences to not behaving.

My three kids are two years apart between each one and they were so well behaved in elementary school and such good students that the teachers fought over who would get the younger ones as they came up.

When my daughter was little, I went to spank her with a kitchen utensil and she twisted and started to bolt and I accidentally hit her above the eye with it! She did get a bruise and I was terrified!! I thought for sure they were going to be knocking on my door!! They never came, thank God!!

When I was working at the Domestic Abuse Shelter, I saw some horror stories involving kids and social services. Social Services is needed in some cases and in others they are like a stick of dynamite blowing an already negative situation to bits.

After my dad died my mom had three kids to raise. She found it hard to cope & turned to alcohol for a crutch.
I still got my share of wallops from a wooden spoon, wooden ruler, or those old slippers that slip on.
Mom actually broke a few rulers & spoons on ,me (I told you I was hardheaded PO) & while I hated it at the time, I understand it now.
My kids never got a spanking like I got.

I just dislike the practice of Social Services & thier policy of, "you are guilty--prove you are innocent!"

Neither have mine!

Ever been hit with a clothes hanger or a starch can?!!! I didn't turn my mother in, but sometimes I didn't like her very much!

My husband has been beaten by his father until his father could hardly breath. He thanks the Lord that he didn't carry that over into his family life now, although, when his eyes glaze over, I'm out of there. :toofunny

Our parents might have stepped over to extremes at times but I was never the worse for wear.
She never left a mark except for a redness at the site of the spanking.

We as a society have swung the pendulum to the other end of the spectrum.

I always look at it this way, God in his infinite wisdom gave my wife & I the distinct priviidge of raising "our" kids & we will answer for it.
He didn't give it to the State to raise.

I see some parents in the action of raising thier kids take actions I personally may disagree with but unless a crime is being committed, It is none of my business!:thumbsup

Many years ago I worked for a short time with a nice young man who it turned out had been a full time Baptist Youth pastor before leaving the ministry.

I don't know what the whole story was but one of the proverbial "straw" that broke the camels back was when a teenage girl who was being raised by a single parent, her mom, duped him into turning in the mother for child abuse when she was really just mad at her mother and trying to at her.

The mom had lost her temper with her previously and had gone to anger management training and everything else the state required of her to do to keep her daugther. She was trying as hard as she could to be a good mom and then this Youth Pastor turned her in on a lie. When the daughter finally admitted she had made the abuse up to hurt her mom it was almost impossible to undo the damage done.

Sadly the very systems set up in place to protect children can themselves be abused to hurt innocent parents.
