View Full Version : Pastor Announces a "Bring Your Gun to Church" day
From the Associated Press:
Louisville, Ky. — A Kentucky pastor is inviting his flock to bring guns to church to celebrate the Fourth of July and the Second Amendment.
New Bethel Church is welcoming “responsible handgun owners” to wear their firearms inside the church June 27, a Saturday. An ad says there will be a handgun raffle, patriotic music and information on gun safety.
“We’re just going to celebrate the upcoming theme of the birth of our nation,” said pastor Ken Pagano. “And we’re not ashamed to say that there was a strong belief in God and firearms—without that this country wouldn’t be here.”
The guns must be unloaded and private security will check visitors at the door, Pagano said.
He said recent church shootings, including the killing Sunday of a late-term abortion provider in Kansas, which he condemned, highlight the need to promote safe gun ownership. The New Bethel Church event was planned months before Dr. George Tiller was shot to death in a Wichita church.

I once fell in love with guns also. It can be very addictive. Yes I do still have my CCW but trimmed down to just one handgun. For the record I would not sanction what the Louisville Church is doing. We need to be known for our love.

I have heard the phrase, "Let's everyone bring your swords (Bibles) to church,
but this is a new one on me! I don't feel as good about this one!
My late father and brother would not even carry a gun on the battlefield.
But they did what they could. Treated the wounded and bound up their
wounds.:thumbsup

They're not coming to shoot people or show any kind of hate.
I would imagine that this event probably bodes well with the community or they wouldn't be doing it.
There are towns this would go over in... and there are towns where it would not go over well.

Actually they will be ensuring that none of the guns are loaded.
This would be a great day to show up and steal a couple hundred unloaded guns. LOL

Sounds goofy to me. I have my CHL, but I think this is a little over-the-top.

Well that is different. I would expect that from a "Cowboy Church".
Not against the notion. Somebody needs to show the Gov that the 2nd amendment is still part of the constitution. For what that document is worth these days...

I would not show up for church that Sunday.
Come on...preach Christ and do the gun safety promotion on a Saturday as a separate function!

I know they mean no harm. I am all for guns. I also live in KY and I carry when hiking or camping. And carrying guns does not mean you hate instead of love. HOWEVER we are on the Earth to be disciples of Yeshua and to reveal HIM. I personally went to far in the direction this Church is going. It hurt my ministry in the end and I regret it. Would not want to see others make the same mistake thats all.

Why not the guns will be unloaded or so they say? My personal opinion is this guy is a nut.

Every Sunday is a "packin" Sunday at NLC. I do not have a sign forbidding concealed carry. I always have someone in a service who is packing. We have law enforcement and former law enforcement officers as well. They've got me covered.....for when I'm not packing! :D

One of our Elders is a City Detective and we have had several law officers as part of our congregation at New Life.
With all the wacko's that are out there it's comforting to know someone 'properly" trained is packing an ankle holster.
