Evangelist A.A. Allen, known as "God's Man of Faith and Power", died on this date in 1970.
His "worlds largest Gospel Tent" was erected in Wheeling, WVA at this time. Bro. Allen left the meeting in the hands of his associate evangelists , Don Stewart (who later "inherited" the ministry and H. Kent Rogers. Bro Allen travelled to CA to take care of some ministry business, according to reports. A few days before Bro. Allens passing, rumors began to circulate that Bro. Allen had died. Bro Allen found it necessary to squash those rumors. He prepared a special taped radio broadcast to be aired on radio stations across the nation on June 11, 1970. Bro Allen unmistakable voice: "Hello, friends... this is Bro. Allen. There are rumors going around that I am a dead man. Now...do I sound like a dead man"? While that broadcast aired on many stations, Bro. Allens body was being removed from the Jack Tarr Hotel in San Francisco.
Bro Asa Alonzo Allen was born Mar. 27, 1911, ar Sulphur Springs, Ark. and is buried in the Miracle Valley Cemetary at his now defunct ministry headquarters near Sierra Vista, AZ.
