View Full Version : Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage
Have any of you seen the 4 DVD set "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage" by Mark Gungor? It's really good and I would recommend it. I had to order it through Inter-Library loan at my library. At the library I work, the staff gets to recommend things to the public and I recommended this.

I have the DVD's too - they are awesome. We went to his seminar - it was really great and I highly recommend that if he is in an area where you live go to the seminar - he is great.

I am only sorry there are only 4 DVD's! My husband and I watched these together. At first I was a little put off by Mark Gungor's personality, but he definately grew on me!! I think the content is excellent.

Are you expected to laugh WITH your spouse? Or AT them?
I laughed at my wife once--it was horrible sleeping in the car!:foottap

I've seen a few clips on youtube, and my sister keeps begging me to buy them!!! :) I wouldn't mind having them--they're just a bit expensive.

ILG,
I'm listening to "Men's Sex Drive" and he is saying that a man's sexual drive peaks at 18 and goes down from there. I'm sorry, but that is just not true.

That's the thing!!! The sources don't make sense. My husband and I have been married for 22 years, this August. We haven't changed since we were 16 years old.
I keep reading about the flipping out hot flashes and all the downhill stuff - it just doesn't make sense! I'm sitting here waiting to fall apart, though. :D The statistics are against me. :tissue

Wellllll...I doubt if Mark Gungor just pulled that figure out of thin air. He seems like a pretty intelligent guy who has done his research. I'm sure there are exceptions to every statistic, though.
I've read other books that stated men have their sexual peak in their late teens, early 20's, and women have theirs around their 30's. I didn't personally do the research--that's just what I've read.
Regardless, I think the point is understanding that men and women are generally different, and have different sexual needs and peaks. Ergo, to have a healthy marriage, you have to understand how your spouse differs from you.
Sounds like everything's working great for you and your husband, so no need to worry about it!!!! :thumbsup
I have a friend who is already going through menopause in her 20's. She and her husband took the advice of her doctor, and had a baby sooner than they had planned, because she may not be able to conceive much longer. So obviously there are people who "fall apart" earlier--and some a lot earlier--than others.

All that stuff is just depressing. I don't want that in my life. I'd run out in front of a bus or something. :toofunny
I think some people just want to have problems and so they do.
What was that stupid book my mother was reading when I was growing up? Oh, I'm Okay, You're Okay
Just live and forget about it! That's my motto! :thumbsup

I'm not sure what video it's in anymore but he starts drawing showing a man at 18
*
And then shows his sex drive drop off with a line that you expect to look like this:
*\
But instead looks like this *--------
It's hilarious because although he says it drops off, on the chart if it drops at all, you'd need a magnifying glass to see it! LOL!!

One thing I really like about this guy is he infuses reality into both sexes. He says women need to learn to take and not just expect the guy to give her whatever she needs. He is not a mind reader and she can't live in fantasy-land. And guys need to realize that this porn-induced society has them expecting things out of their wives that are unrealistic. He reminds men that the women on TV and other places are getting PAID to do the things they do and that if they have gotten ideas from the secular media or worse, porn, and they are "bored" with their wives that it is their problem and they should not make it their wife's problem. Now, reading during intimacy?? That's just WRONG!!! :nah:ursofunny
