Since this is one of AFF favorite topics, I had to post this! Full "deliverance" service can be watched here (http://thepopeofpentecost.wordpress.com/2009/06/25/gay-exorcism-would-jesus-do-this-what-say-you/).

actually everything she has said ive heard in UPC churches from traveling evangelists, in various rallys/meetings, and at pastoral dinner tables. Other than she says it in a somewhat unsophisticated way and in front of a global audience... she would fit in just fine.... i mean we still put up with our top level single male evangelist (who everyone knows about on here) and the stuff he says on a regular basis is right in line with this... heck hes headlining the largest upc singles conference this weekend in Memphis. And of course lets not start a pie fight over the Holy Hair/Angelic Covering folks...

Exactly.

For anyone on AFF not to realize that there are abundance of threads concerning homosexuality is just in denial.

From jokes to prayer requests, homosexuality is discussed on here, a lot.
Did someone deny Homosexuality is discussed here?

i just said i never seen it discussed here prax but i also qualified it by saying i havent been here for years either and i also dont go on every forum only the felowship hall. and i dont even view every topic i didnt think it was all that popular as someone said was the reason they posted it but whatever !!! i still dont know why you would post either way or why makes no sense to me. or people who dont even believe it exists im sure they just consider it religious wackiness good for laughs cause they dont know any better so why give them a chance to ridicule jmho

I don't think that anyone should have recorded this because the world wouldn't understand this stuff.

I think there could be value to this exercise of faith-- the alleged gay guy was complicit and the Chrisitans were willing to pray for him.

The fact that law enforcement is even considering to get involved irritates me. It's just a matter of time before casting out devils will be outlawed too.

I have ONE thing to say about this video:

If an evil spirit does not come out the first time you issue the command, please see Mark 9 -

Mark 9:17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
Mark 9:18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

Mark 9:25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
Mark 9:26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
Mark 9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
Mark 9:28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

honestly, do you think this UPC star evangelist is just as ignorant as the preacher in the video? Do you think he really believes that stuff about HMH or is he just preaching what HQ wants him to promote to keep the unquestioning sheep in line?

ahem, that part about "fasting" does not appear in the newer Bible versions based on "older" manuscripts.

Its current events for heavens sake. Everything else is discussed here. Why not this? Perhaps I should have started a standards thread (or are people in denial that standards are not discussed here). Or perhaps even a "why I am no longer apostolic" thread (of which 200 pages of post instantly appear with most people in favor of the person leaving the traditional apostolic church). You can say that Michael Jackson has died (of which did not even believe in the same God that WE serve) Farrah Fawcett - the founder of immodest short pants for women can be discussed here yet because a CNN current events thread was started, you get all jumpy? Spare me please......just like a remote for a television, if you dont want to read/see something, dont click on it.

In all honesty, the real reason I posted it was not because of the homosexual theme, I posted it because this so called Pentecostal woman (and her congregants) dont know the first thing about a "deliverance" service. Further more, it was the church who posted it on youtube for all eyes to see. If youtube had existed back in the day when my old church was started out, you would have saw the same thing. An unscriptural form of attempting to make someone get delivered (white sheets??? find me one scripture! Elders chanting the Name of Jesus over and over while an individual rolled on the floor??????? find me one scripture! A woman usurping the authority of a man by telling an entire church to keep quiet and dont speak???? find me one scripture).

The post was for mere discussion sake.

P.S. A simple search of the word gay or homosexual on this message board will bring up plenty of posts.

I think Sam was referring to the people who FIRST posted the video--not your starting of the thread. :)

Anyway, I think its silly to wrestle with people, trying to cast demons out of them. In scripture, Jesus just commanded the demons to leave, and when the disciples couldn't handle the matter, He told them what the trouble was.

Further, scripture says that casting out devils in the name of Jesus is a sign following those who believe--it doesn't say they shall cast out devils by the sweat of their brow, but simply in the name of Jesus. It also mentions laying hands on the SICK, but says nothing of laying hands on the demon-possessed.

I think this mess came from the Catholic church and physically involved exorcisms, and has NO place in an Apostolic service, or Apostolic ministry.

How many pastors --both men and women--- have a meek and quiet spirit?

AMEN AND AMEN.

This was totally unwise for this church to post this video on the net. Homosexuality is sinful and from the pit. But doing this with a video is simply unwise.

The man wanted to be delivered, but broadcasting this is silly as well as many things that occurred in the video.

The woman did not know proper English. She said "denominal" instead of "denominational" ( a common error many make) and in the video she said "My homosexuality" had to come out. lol. There's simply too many rednecks out there who cannot talk correctly and are trying to preach and pastor.

She's clearly against "homosexuality", but she actually meant she is not hating the homosexual people.

Also, she probably meant all sinful activities involve spirits to a degree.

Elders and deacons are not instructed to be "quiet", whereas the sisters are instructed in this way. Elders and deacons can also not be sisters...

I honestly HATE the whole "sister" thing. The only time I refer to someone as a "sister" is when speaking of my biological ones -as well as the occasional "elder" woman as a sign of respect.

I'm a little more lenient with the term "brother" because it conveys the term "close fellow member" which is why it used in lodges. "Greetings brothers Kramden and Norton!"

It really wasn't very wise to even record this for a number of reasons. 1. This is evidence that can possibly be used at a later time. 2. What happened to protecting this person's identitiy. He probably didn't want the world to see this. 3. The world doesn't understand spiritual matters.

Next, this pastor could have benefited from a prepared statement by someone other than herself. She wasn't prepared to speak in a fashion that was good for her image on CNN. The press is ruthless enough without giving them the bullets to shoot you with. She really didn't know any better. I found this to be sad.

My pastor doesn't wrestle anyone down on the floor. He lays hands on them and speaks the words. That is what is wise, in my opinion.

Very good words. When wrestling occurs, I have found that true repentance has not occurred. Where repentance is, there is no battle in these instances.
