With Open Office and so many other apps available...

Is there an open code app for editing Microsoft FrontPage websites?

Why do you need a special editor to edit the HTML? Snip out the useless FP coding if it's present and just recode the HTML to your liking. There are tons of good HTML editors out there.

Here is a few.

This one is not free, but inexpensive with a visual editor. You can try it free for a while

They do have a free editor too and a free menu builder

Evrsoft is a nifty HTML editor with a huge help file and some jscripts too

BTW I used to use the evrsoft editor when it first came out years ago. I liked it though it was buggy. The new one is much better

I use Notepad 5.1+ (if that is current version).

I've used notepad too, but an HTML editor is a lot faster and easier to check to see how it looks

bump

BTW if you want to pay, expression MS's new replacement for frontpage, is pretty nifty

You notepad users should check out Notepad++. Open source, color coding for many languages, lots of plugins. Great stuff.

These days, I agree it would be easier to start from scratch vs editing a FP site. Check out some of the online web builders like weebly.com. They make it very easy- even to add shopping carts and such. I have decided to use Wordpress as my platform for almost site I need to build. There are plugins that allow it to be configured more like a site and less like a blog.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys...

I have edited before with Notepad but would prefer not having to fight with all that fp code.

I saw a link to expressions from our web service provider but it said that I could save $200.00. I don't click on things that tell me I can save more than I can afford. LOL Generally if I save $200.00 I won't be spending $15.

:)

I will look into Coffeecup... it seems like I might have used that years ago.

what FP code? There is very little FP code. You got the themes thing but that points to something on the server doesn't it? I used to use FP and I never made a web site that was not pure HTML,CSS etc using some sort of non-stardard FP code.

You should be able to preserve the basic HTML code of the site. I think the main thing that does not work is the themes

BTw try the other one I posted too, It should be fine.

If you want to build from scratch, there are many simple options like what was said about WordPress....though all WP sites I have seen made into webpages still have that blog feel/look

Also if you are Oneness UPCI.NET looks nifty

I bought a template from i3dthemes.com. I edit it from there.
