Eddie is preaching on the Holy Ghost today in all three services. We are right now between the 2nd & 3rd, with a 4th going on simultaneously by video. So far, we've had about ten receive it. I'm excited to hear what the final count is! God is SO awesome.

Final count this morning - 21!!!! Praise God! I actually think there was at least 22 because I was praying for one lady who was speaking in tongues clearly, but she didn't think she received it, so we didn't count her. I just told her to keep praying and she would get what she is wanting.

Eddie just has a knack for explaining it and making it something so desirable. I love the way he does that!

TICWe have found out (again today!) that the ones who have the hardest time receiving it are the ones from any kind of Pentecostal background. They have it built into their brains that they have to "tarry" or beg. That's the way I was taught too, and it took me forever. People who don't have a clue just hear about it and come up there and get it!!

That is unfortunately true.

Were I am from "tarrying" was only for something like an answer from God to a situation or a healing, etc.

People don't tarry for the Holy Ghost. It is not the norm. Visitors have received Him during song service. There was no one there laying hands on them and yelling in their ears.

Other times people received Him as soon as hands were layed upon them. And others it takes a few minutes.... very few.

I heard about it on a Wednesday at bible study, and received Him four days later in a red hot altar call on a Sunday evening.

There are only two cases that I know of personally where people have tarried.
One born and raised in church. We heard him speak in tongues at youth conference, but apparently he didn't hear himself. That happened to me upon initial reception. All the noise around me was gone. I could not hear the people who were surrounding me in prayer. All I could hear was myself crying out to God in English.
And next thing I know I hear myself speaking words that were not English... then all of the background noise came back in the split of a second... people rejoicing with me.
Anyway, the other case were a man "tarried," this took place for a year or a year and a half. We were in revival and the evangelist walked up to were the man was sitting. He took the man by his tattoo'd hand and said something like "how long are you going to allow your past to keep you from receiving smething from God." I'm probably telling it better than it happened LoL, anyway, that man with a history of drug abuse and dealing, gang affiliation, etc. received the Holy Ghost that night!

Other than those two, I don't know anyone else who has had to "tarry."

My Dad's church had tarrying services every Sunday afternoon before Sunday evening service.

We had many receive the Holy Ghost in those services.

However, I received the Holy Ghost at a fellowship service at another church where my Dad had preached the sermon, but another preacher and my Mom were the ones that helped me pray through.

I think tarrying services are very valuable and it is a shame that most churches don't do this any more-- including my Dad's church.

I know, I know. LoL. I don't have all the time in the world. Finally took on adult responsibility at the late age of however old I am. :)

Stability... not something that I am accustomed to, but I like it, I like it a whole lot! :)

Didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Keep the praise reports coming in! ( sherri has yet to make a copy available of the last youth service.. )

God is great! This is my heart's desire for Cordova L&T - We heard Eddie's message on baptism yesterday! The simplicity of the gospel is just that. God has gifted him with the ability to preach it just that way!!!! Praying for safe keeping til all are back home from missions trip!!!

What on earth could there be legalistic about tarrying services?

In fact, I was always so thrilled to see the Holy Ghost being poured out on the seekers and the established Saints, every Sunday afternoon.

It happened during the services to, sometimes. But in tarry service, people always experienced God in some demonstrative way or another.

We'd get to singing one song, and we'd sing that one song and variations of that one song as the Holy Ghost moved on folks who were on their knees calling out, "Hallelujah", "Thank You Jesus" and other praises!

It was a good time!

Didn't mean to minimize what God did, it was great! Two weeks ago, we had four receive the baptism during a Sunday morning service!

Any time God does something, it is great!

The reason the disciple had to tarry for the Holy Ghost was because the Holy Ghost could not have fallen till the Day Of Pentecost.
Now believers receive the baptism of The Holy Ghost by faith, the Holy Ghost is a present reality a penetant person receives it by faith.
