He and a female were found shot to death in a Nashville, TN apartment.
I heard on ESPN radio that McNair had a single bullet wound to the head and the woman was either a current girlfriend or ex-girlfriend.
Police say they don't know, or at least aren't saying, what they believe happened.
Sad thing... McNair was a great team player in a sport where so many players are selfish and demanding.

I saw that. I think murder is up in 2009... seems an inordinate amount lately.

Sounds like a murder suicide to me.

They are now saying that Steve was shot multiple times while the girl has a single shot to her head and the gun laying next to her. Sounds like a murder suicide. The girl was only 20 years old!

That is sad, there are so many sad and pitiful people in this world.

Isn't that the truth! A neighboring city to us had a triple homicide last month. The city has never had a murder in it's 150 year history prior to this event. A relative has been arrested and charged with murder and theft.

I am sure Gene Simmons will be saying something soon. Just like Kurt Cobain, he has a low opinion of the rich and famous living in the dark bowls of depression. He thinks they should give their "evil" money to him (Gene) where at least it will be owned by someone who appreciates it.

Oh my goodness, how horrible. :(

I'm thinking it was a murder-suicide. And yes, he was married and having an affair and even had a car registered in his name as well as her's. She was arrested two days ago while driving it drunk.

This worlds society today breeds such contemptous
young spoiled brat folks that can't imagine not having things always go
their way., they DEMAND at any/all costs, what they imagine to be rightfully
theirs., I've seen it even within todays churches; its sad beyond words.

I live in the city of Forest Park which is about 20 miles north of the city of Cincinnati, Ohio. It seems that there are several shootings and killings in Cincinnati every week.
But, just a week ago, in our city of about 20,000 a man shot his parents and himself about a block from where we live. The man was 50. His parents were in their 80's and 70's. I haven't heard anything about a motive.

I don't think this was a murder-suicide.
I think this was a double homicide, dressed to look like a murder-suicide.
The gun was found under the woman-- not typical for suicide situations.

By most accounts, this statement would not be true about Steve McNair.
Not only was he an outstanding sportsman, but he apparently contributed a great deal of his time and money to his city and tried to positively impact his neighborhood.

So McNair's wife finds out she's about to be replaced by some 20-y.o. thang, so she hires some hitman to off both of them and make it look like a murder-suicide.
I'm thinking it is what it was called ... murder-suicide. I haven't read how the body was positioned ... it's possible for a suicide to have the gun fall under the body, depending on positioning of the gun and body.

He may have been generous with time and money to charities. But apparently he was just another married man, fooling around with a young woman. Public and private faces a lot different. Sad and pitiful.

It's very difficult to set up a hit to make it look like a murder-suicide. The forensics would sniff it out in an instant.

Indeed, very sad.
I heard today that he was still married and the father of four young children.

It's been determined that he was shot in his sleep and that the girlfriend did it, then turned the gun on herself.
She told a friend that she was upset because of financial problems and that she thought he'd been seeing someone else.

Besides her and his wife?
I am watching Steve's Nashville memorial service live. It is at the church he attended, a big black church "Mt. Zion Baptist Church". Their choir sang and then a soloist. I was very disappointed. A big choir but not near as good as a big black choir should be!
As much as I admired Steve McNair's work on a football field and his great work in the community you can't ignore the circumstances of his death.
The things people said and the scriptures that were read at the beginning of service amazed me. They painted him as an absolute saint, walking the straight and narrow path, close to God ,etc.
There are ways to be classy and not condemn somebody at their funeral but to just ignore the adulterous situation that was a key component of his death is just nuts. Don't mention it but don't act like it didn't exist and try to paint him as a saint.
You could say he was a good man and talk about the good things he did and that would be enough. Then read some scriptures about God's mercy, man's weakness, failures, etc.

Speaking of Nashville,I'm headed there in August to see my sister.
Coach Fisher just did a great job talking about Steve. Made me cry.
The Mt. Zion pastor just preached a great funeral message. One of the best I have ever heard.

Actually I had the young girl in mind when I wrote that. ;)
Im sure that he may have just been trying to help her out, and she just wanted something else, something more.
Very sad for his wife and family.
Seems there are always conspiracies floating about when a celebrity is killed and or involved in something
possibly scandalous.
