View Full Version : Strange Prayer Request

I have a prayer request for something seemingly simple but because of a prior medical condition could have serious consequences.

About a dozen years ago I pricked my finger while removing thorns / burrs from my dogs fur. It only bled a few drops and I thought nothing about it. The next day my finger was stiff and difficult to bend. To make a long story short I developed RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) that caused me to almost have my finger amputated.

After months of very painful physical therapy we saved the finger and after about 5 more years of physical therapy on my own I got it back to about 95%usage.

The Doctor warned me that people who have RSD once are susceptible to have it again so I have to be very careful not to injure my extremities (fingers and toes) and to let doctors know I had RSD if I am going to have any invasive surgeries.

A couple of days ago I accidently got stuck in a finger by a small needle from one of my wife's cactus plants. I tried to pull it out and it broke off. Subsequent attempts to get it out with tweezers has failed and now the finger is swollen, sore, and looks like it is the beginning of infection.

I am aggravated beyond belief that Iam going to have to go to the doctor and spend a hundred bucks or more to get something this simple taken care of. I had both my wife and daughter torture me trying to get it out with no luck.

Tonight I am worried because this newly injured finger is right next to the one I almost lost to RSD and now I feel a stiffness in the finger I worked so many years to get unstiff and back to normal.

I don't want a $1000 hospital bill from going to the emergency room on a weekend so please pray for healing or at least healing until Monday when I can go to a regular doctor. Most of all pray that RSD does not present itself. I have pricked my fingers over the years to the point of drawing blood and have had no problems but this is swollen, sore, etc.

Prayed!

As to the stiffness in your finger; it could be that you are using it more due to the hurt finger and it's just reacting to over use........

Praying more.....:thumbsup

CC1, I'll pray too.

Do you have insurance?

Margie, I do have insurance. It is one of those deals with a $2500 deductible and the comopany gives me $1500 of that upfront at the beg. of the year. we are in that spot where we have to pay the next $1,000 of medical bills to satisfy the deductible then the insurance will start paying again. With today's office visit I am now within just a few dollars of the insurance picking up again.

Well after playing Dr. myself for a week with no luck I finally went to my GP today. I have been having to sterelize a needle and lance the infected area to drain it every couple of days. Hoping that I was also squeezing out the tiny cactus needle that has caused all of this trouble.

After a week I decided I had better open up my wallet and get professional help. The Dr. said I should have come sooner even without my prior problem with RSD. He said anytime there is an infection in a finger you need to get it checked ASAP.

He dug around and said he could not go any deeper without it being a surgical procedure. He couldn't find anything to remove so gave me a antibiotic shot, prescribed antibiotics, sent me for X rays and made an appointment for me to take those X rays to a hand specialist on Monday. Please pray that all goes well Monday as my finger hurts like the dickens and it is hard to work or play since my work involves typing on the computer a lot and so does AFF!!!
