I would appreciate your continued prayers for my dad, Don Graham. We were to go to Indiana to pick him up yesterday morning, and before we got there, he passed out and quit breathing. They rushed him by ambulance back to the ER and then they had us transport him by car to the ER here in Jackson. About midnight last night, they got him into the Neuro ICU here.

He seems much better and more responsive today, but there has been some mid-line shifting in his brain from swelling on the left side. So it causes some confusion at times, extreme fatigue, and other things. They are hoping it will self-correct so they don't have to do surgery.

Thanks for your prayers!!

My prayers are with your dad!

I was in Jackson yesterday moving my mother into Forrest Cove Manor, which is right across the street from the hospital. We'll connect sometime when I come to visit her!

Sherri, know this is very hard for your family - praying the peace of God covers your mind and hearts as you wait on God's will for your Dad. I pray that he'll recover completely from this.

They are doing another CAT scan in the morning to see if the brain has shifted any more to the right, or if it's improving. If it's still the same or worse, they are talking about drilling holes in his skull to release the blood that has gathered there. Sounds yukky, but I know he needs relief from the pressure.

Thanks again, everyone, for praying!!! Today they did the scan, which really didn't show any changes, but the doctor for now has decided NOT to do the surgery and see if it will correct on its own over time. Thank the Lord! I just hated the thought of him being put to sleep again at 80 years old.

They did move him to a regular room, mainly because the Neuro ICU was full and there were people more critical than him. Last night we had "Nurse Helga", but today we got a good one. LOL

Changes are abounding! Now they ARE going to do the surgery - going in Thursday morning and drilling two holes in his skull to let the fluid out. Please pray that he will do okay with the anesthesia. That's my biggest concern right now.

He definitely is getting worse though from the swelling. Yesterday he walked down the hall, pretty fast, with the aid of PT people. Today, he is really dragging his right side/foot and even can't sit on the side of the bed without leaning. So I know they HAVE to get that blood out that is causing the pressure.

My mom is totally exhausted - sleeping only a few hours a night. I think five hours is her record in the past 16 days.

Praying for your dad-- and for strength for your whole family as you're going through this. I know it's exhausting on the family. God can bring him through this-- He is our healer.

Praying for your mom - and for sleep to come - peace of mind to overwhelm her - and rest to you all. We're holding you up before God during this trial. Pray whatever doctors do will bring results that give God the glory!

Her Friday FB status:

Sherri Graham Cupples - Dad is doing great. Sat up for a hour today and walked down the hall and back with the PT person. They still have the drainage tube in his head, but hope to remove that tomorrow and possibly release him Sunday. We are not sure yet whether he will go home or back to Rehab for a while. Actually we think a little more Rehab would do him good, but he would NOT be happy with that idea.on Friday
