Being out here on the East Coast, it is a real bummer not to be able to see real college football very often, the PAC 10!!
Hoping the little quiz dude from Oregon State can keep it up.
And then there is my 49ers, I am beginning to wonder if the will ever compete again. I guess it is not as bad as being a Lions or a Raiders fan. Raiders will never compete unto old Al gives up the team.

Titans play the Steelers on Thursday to kick-off the NFL season! The Steelers were the beneficiaries of a fluke loss by the Titans in the playoffs last year!

The rest of the country just hasn't figured it out yet. I guess nearly half the PAC 10 being in the top 25 means they stink. You folks in Texas are limited by your inability to enjoy anything from the other 49 states.

Baron, I would be surprised (impressed but surprised) if the PAC 10 preseason positions hold up once they play the tougher season games. Incidentally, I do live in Texas but still maintain that the SEC is by far the toughest conference season in and out. From top to bottom they stack up better than any other in my opinion....and I will be right there with you in cheering against the Cowboys :)

3 of the 4 Pac 10 teams in the top 25 ended the year in the top 25. SEC is a media favorite, they get all the hype. Except the absolutely awful Notre Dame teams that always get coverage. Am I wrong or was the only team to beat the trojans for the last 2 years in the PAc 10? That means of the 3 Losses that USC has had in 3 years 2 of them have been at the hands of the Pac 10.

Outside of USC, how many Pac10 teams have won the national championship in the last 20 years?
Compare that to how many teams from the SEC have won the national championship in the last 20 years. I won't count Auburn, which went undefeated but didn't get a chance to play USC for the title. I don't know if Auburn would have won, but I'm sure they would have done better than Oklahoma did! :)
If USC were in the SEC, they would have lost a lot more than 3 games in 3 years! I'm just sayin'! :)

Concur. The SEC teams have draconian schedules. They essentially play 8-9bowl games during the regular season. USC usually has a good program, but they do not play in a competitive conference. They maybe, maybe play (4) bowl-bound teams then 6-7 marginal teams with losing records. Which is helpful for making them appear to be better than they really are. Sort of like sending Ohio State down south to play. They cannot seem to match up either LOL.

USC hasn't had too much problem in recent years with BCS games now have they? Not a big problem for them to match up after their "easy" schedule.
Maybe it is you SEC folks that are afraid of a playoff system, they might have had to play USC last year instead of overrated Oklahoma. SEC gets too many poll points for strength of schedule in the stupid BCS system.

Nobody is denying that USC is a great football program! They are the power of the PAC10.
The SEC has 4 or 5 schools that in any given year are on par with USC. They have to play each other which pulls them down the top 25 list.

It's a year in and year out thing in the SEC. That's the point. Every year in recent history SEC teams have had to face legitimate National Champion contenders within their own conference. They usually end up knocking each other out of contention because obviously somebody has to win. Year in and year out, facing Florida, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and some of the other schools that at times field great teams (Arkansas with Mcfadden and company, Ole Miss the past few years and in the Eli years). I just don't see how from top to bottom, anyone can argue that the SEC is generally the toughest conference year in and year out.

LOL. I was hoping that maybe the second time you read it, it would sink in. Every conference has to play each other...not every team has to face multiple legitimate National Championship contenders in order to make it out of the conference every year. Technically I guess the SWAC beats up on each other.
I'm not a Titans fan, but I guess I may root for them over the Steelers.

Not a Titans fan either, just prefer them to win against the Steelers. College football needs a playoff system I hate the BCS. There are too many times when a team loses one game on a freak play or their opposition isn't deemed tough enough and therefore they get no shot at the championship. It is ludicrous to think that there will only be two teams each year that are worthy of that big game based on computer standings. Have I mentioned I hate the BCS?

I hope my Titans don't get embarrassed! They were the best team in the NFL last year, and lost in the playoffs because of two fumbles inside the ten yard line when they were about to score!
The Titans beat the Steelers last year 31-17, so I think the Steelers may be seeking revenge! Also...a few Titans players stomped on a terrible towel after last year's game!

Baron, you're a lawyer, so I won't try to debate you too much :)
...but you're missing my point. Nobody is saying that every time every PAC 10 school plays every SEC school, they will lose. The point is that from top to bottom, you play tougher games in the SEC. I didn't watch the game, but I can say with certainty that even if you win, 19-15 is a tough game....and Tennessee is very much a rebuilding team in the SEC...it just doesn't take long for those schools :)
UCLA played a team that is so underachieving by SEC standards that they replaced their head coach just this off season...and beat them 19-15...not an easy game which was my whole point.

Well, I'm not about to defend OSU in the big games :)
I'm just using a clearly rebuilding TN with a brand new coaching staff etc, as an example of how most teams in the SEC will play you tough most years regardless.
I think most people, however, do recognize USC as a legit national powerhouse...maybe not as good as ESPN makes them out to be but I don't think it's possible for any group of mere mortals to be that good.

What I think USC has to address is that at times in the game, it didn't appear that the QB was the problem. He actually looked good for a great part of the game to me. For long stretches it seemed that USC was getting outplayed in other areas. They did buckle down and seem to want it more at the end though.

I thought the QB was lacking they didn't trust him to make the big throw and when he had to he usually missed. This allowed OH to play the run all night.

Your faith is not weak...it's just that your common sense is so strong :) I think Gators win with or without Tebow. The backup is a very good qb...translation: the gators have at least two qbs better than anyone in purple LOL

Should be a good game. Looking forward to it. My son is at homecoming tonight so I get to watch my TV in the living room, which he seems to think is his. Football in Hi def on a big screen, life is good.
