View Full Version : Cast Not Your Pearls Before Swine
Allright you Theologians, can anyone take a stab at this verse?
Mat 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
It's the back up verse to Acts 2:38???

Yeah, it's the one they throw at you after you tell them you believe someone can make it to heaven if they don't speak in tongues...

oops, I guess If I have bling, hmmm, I'm the liberal..gotta re-think this thing.
Okay, okay Ron, just funnin' ya man.
We have things that are Holy. Give them a highest regard. Don't even let them near things that will destroy them. I think you have to decide what is the "holy" thing that you possess. There certain things in my life that I regard dear and given to me by my God...and even though some have tried, they will never possess them.
HMMM, seeing where this thread is headed, I may need to rethink this!:tease

Not sure of the Analogy here. All I know is Jesus cast the legion of demons into the Swine. The meaning has to be hidden in the character of the pig.
Probaly why the Jews and the Arabs will not eat Ham.

Actually, the reason the Jews, orthodox ones at least, don't eat pork is because God told them not to.

neither cast ye your pearls before swine. But since the subject Christ is upon is reproof, it seems rather to be the design of these expressions, that men should be cautious, and prudent, in rebuking and admonishing such persons for their sins, in whom there is no appearance or hope of success; yea, where there is danger of sustaining loss;
lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you: that is, despise the admonitions and reproofs given, and hurt the persons who give them, either by words or deeds; see Pro_9:7. The Jews have some sayings much like these, and will serve to illustrate them

Not sure of the Analogy here. Jesus did cast the legion of demons into the swine. So it must speak to the nature of the pig.
Maybe that is why the Jews and Arabs will not eat ham.

I just preached on this Sunday night. These Jews choose the unclean swine over Jesus. they ask Him to leave, because all they could thing about was the hogs that they lose. their only concern was the unclean things that they lost. they could have seen many miracles but the ask Jesus to leave. they loved the swine the unclean thing more. More than healing and deliverance for their loved ones

Luk 15:11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
Luk 15:12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
Luk 15:13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
Luk 15:14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
Luk 15:15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
Luk 15:16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
See where the prodigal ended up?

Oh no they got it. We ever more had church Sunday night.
Pigs have a bad rap ....
Pigs do not have functional sweat glands [2], so pigs cool themselves using water or mud during hot weather. They also use mud as a form of sunscreen to protect their skin from sunburn. Mud also provides protection against flies and parasites.
Pigs are generally considered to be one of the more intelligent animals on the planet, being compared to dogs [3]. In one study conducted by a Pennsylvania State University professor, two pigs were taught to play rudimentary video games by manipulating a joy stick with their snouts while being rewarded with sweets [4].
It has been shown that a pig's mood can be determined by its tail, if the tail is tightly coiled, the pig is happy. If the tail is hanging limp however, the pig is unhappy

We did too! Everyone was Dancing all over the place, and we had one backslider praay back through-in seconds tears streaming down her face.
She is 19 and my wife and I were picking her up for Sunday School when she was six!
We even had a new visitor who was so excited by what she saw, that when people got to dancing she danced too! Out of what she was feeling.

Allright you Theologians, can anyone take a stab at this verse?
Mat 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
I think that you have to deal with people from the worldview they live in. If you are humble, sweet, and giving to those who are just trying to take advantage of your Christianity [those who would abuse you physically, spiritually, emotionally, or sexually] then you are casting your pearl before swine.
God does not mean that you should let your Godliness be taken advantage of to the point you are misused , used, and taken advantage of.
This is my thoughts on this scripture.
