The Sec Championship game has already decided the national champion. Alabama is one complete football team. I can't find one weakness in them. The same thing that happened to everyone else this year is going to happen to Texas. Bama will outscore them in the 4th because Texas' defense will have been on the field for so long that they will be too tired to stop them.
One other interesting fact. No SEC team has ever lost the BCS championship game...

You're right I forgot about Oklahoma. I wouldn't put the other two up there anywhere near as high though... Texas will score at most two touchdowns in the Alabama game (maybe an added field goal or two if they are really lucky). And from the looks of Alabama's offense against Florida which has as good of a defense if not much better than anything Texas played, Alabama is looking to score about 30-35 on Texas.

Oh yes, I watched the game......we had a houseful of crazed Husker fans.
But, keep in mind, Nebraska was a 14 point underdog, so this should be a wake up call for Texas. And, when you only have 106 yards of total offense as Nebraska did, you can't expect to win a football game! If we had any kind of offense whatsoever, we would be heading to a BCS championship game. However, even with our wimpy offense, our defense kept us within a play of winning the entire game.
Pelini has turned this team around, and hopefully within the next couple years of recruiting, we'll be able to pick up some offensive power.

Our defense has pretty much won every game for us this year. In fact, a local sportswriter asked if it was against NCAA rules to keep your defense in the game for the entire time, lol.

The state is definitely in dire straits, but I can only hope things are starting to turn around. I think the automotive companies are making some slow recoveries, and maybe a new governor will help the cause.

True, and Bama could get complacent, but this will be their first championship game in many many years. I see them working just as hard because of that. In fact that is better motivation than being an underdog ever could. It's when a team is used to winning championships and big games that it can get complacent and the underdog can work hard and overcome the gap. Just my opinion.

But, most of my friends envision Omaha as a hayseed town in the middle of a corn field filled state. But, I was pretty happy to come across this article in Forbes entitled "Best Bang for your Buck American Cities"........
Omaha, our No. 1 bang-for-the-buck city (also rated the city best surviving the recession), joins a number of Great Plains metros near the top of our list. These include Wichita, Kan. (No. 6) and Tulsa, Okla. (No. 19). This swath of prairie in the center of the country was somewhat buffered from the disastrous effect on coastal markets of the housing crisis, enabling it to emerge solidly from the recession. Housing sales here kept a steady, if slow, pace during the boom.

About the game ...
I wasn't much impressed with Texas or Colt McCoy before the game, I'm even less impressed with them after watching them win with help of the UT Graduate Referee and other officials.
Everyone knew NU had a terrible offense, but people seemed also to forget that Texas chokes against a defense with a pulse - OU and NU.
Think of this, if OU had a healthy Bradford, UT would have lost the game.
If NU had any kind of offense, if they could've scored a TD instead of settling for a FG after being inside UT's 10yd line, if UT isn't gift-wrapped a TD and FG set up by incredibly bad "pass interference" calls, or if the review booth reviews the tackle in the end zone by NU which should've given them a safety and two points ... any one of those things happen, UT loses again.
I cannot believe the Big XII allowed an officiating crew from Texas with the head referee being a UT graduate. Both pass interference calls were terrible. One was completely uncatchable - way overthrown and out of bounds. McCoy was just throwing it away in a desperate attempt to keep from getting sacked. Even the TV announcers who were whining about McCoy needing a Heisman moment all game long were confused and couldn't understand why the flag was thrown. That gave UT field position in which 3 plays later they made a FG. The other call was in the end zone and the NU defender didn't even touch the receiver.
I don't want to get into the call at the end where the UT graduate gave his alma mater one second to kick the winning field goal. They keep talking about the rules and how the play was correct, but according to the rulebook, the play is over when the whistle is blown, not when a player is tackled or ball hits the ground. The whistle stops the play.
The whistle blew after the clock showed 00.
But it's over and done with. Bottom line is NU needed a productive offense, and they don't have one.
Alabama will beat Texas because they have a great offense and a smothering defense. Ingram should win the Heisman, although I'd love to see Suh win, I don't think the voters are willing to let the trophy go to a defensive player. McCoy doesn't deserve it, neither does Tebow.

Thanks for the article! It was very interesting - home of 30 insurance companies, growing in the biofuel industry, strong agriculture sector - a strong base! And I also read that Nebraska didn't specialize in the types of institutions that took big risks and chased exotic financial structures.

The replay officials had a clear view, provided by TV cameras, that showed the incomplete pass hitting the ground with one second remaining. So, they followed Rule 12, Section 3, Article 6 - "The replay official may correct egregious errors, including those involving the game clock, whether or not a play is reviewable." :bigbaby

I understand the ball hit the ground with a second remaining. That doesn't change the fact the whistle didn't blow until after the clock hit double-0's.
I agree that there was a second remaining. However, in the past there have been games when there was a second or two remaining but the whistle hadn't blown until after 00 and the game was called. In those times, it wasn't reviewed and the game was over.
Again, NU shouldn't have let it come to that. McCoy and UT's offense was overwhelmed by the NU defense and couldn't do much of anything without the help of a penalty.
NU shot itself in the foot. After getting a turnover around the UT 45 or 40 yd line, the first play they throw a bomb into the end zone into double coverage ... it was intercepted. Had they not done that and just either threw mid-range passes or run the ball, they might have had a chance to kick a FG .... which would've been enough to win the game.
That was poor play-calling, and a terrible decision to throw the ball into double coverage by a QB who really isn't very good.

Had they not done that and just either threw mid-range passes or run the ball, they might have had a chance to kick a FG .... which would've been enough to win the game.
That was poor play-calling, and a terrible decision to throw the ball into double coverage by a QB who really isn't very good.

Can I take this opportunity to complain yet again about the BCS? No matter what happens now there will be two undefeated teams when it is all said and done. I don't either Boise State or TCU can stand up to Texas or Alabama, but shouldn't they get a shot at it?
I didn't get a chance to watch the Texas game but I did see the Alabama v. Florida game. Alabama is looking like they might just walk away with it, but anytime two teams have this much time to prepare I wouldn't think that it would be an easy win.
The voice of sanity and reason!!!!! Baron wins!!! :thumbsup

Maybe it's like miracles, if theres not enough faith then it can't happen, but if there is enough faith then it will. So maybe PO is just trying to keep faith up to see a miracle happen.

UT will not win. 'Bama has both a good offense and defense ... plus UT will not be able to rely on their friendly Big XII officials to help them out.
Roll Tide - Beat Texas!

Can't believe Choke McCoy won the Walter Camp award. He was only good against bad defenses. If it had to be an offensive player to win the award, Gerhard and Ingram deserve it way more than McCoy. At least they played well against ranked teams and good defenses.
Enjoy the moment now, PO, McCoy is going to choke again when the Tide beat UT. I don't think it'll be much of a contest.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will eviscerate the texas cows, just as they did tebow and the little lizards of florida. The only question is, who will cry louder mccoy or timmy????
